US 27 North and South will remain open to vehicular traffic. This year, we are excited to announce that Center City will be partnering with the United Way for our Annual Picnic. This year the Annual Celebrity Bake-Off that United Way puts on will be a part of the Main Street Picnic. In the past, the United Way has gathered community leaders to parcipate in the annual Celebrity Bake-off, baking sweets and treats and creang a cookbook for the community. This year, community leaders will assist in helping with the picnic as well as parcipang in the Celebrity Bake-off, all in the same two-block secon of Main Street! Not only will there be a United Way Celebrity Bake-off, Celebrity picnic volunteers, and great food, September 13 is another day in the series of Main Street Sidewalk Sales! The Annual Center City Picnic this year will be Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 11:00am-1:30pm on Main Street. Two blocks, the 700 and 800 blocks of Main Street, will be blocked off to vehicles in order to accommodate seating for the picnic during this time period. US 27 North and South will remain open to vehicular traffic.

This year, we are excited to announce that Center City will be partnering with the United Way for our Annual Picnic. This year the Annual Celebrity Bake-Off that United Way puts on will be a part of the Main Street Picnic.

The 2011 Picnic yielded over 400 members of the community in attendance. We are looking to have even more this year. So mark your calendars for September 13, for a day of community fun on Main Street and a great, affordable meal!

The Starr-Gennett Walk of Fame Music Festival 2012 will be held this year on Friday, September 7th and Saturday, September 8th. The annual Festival highlights Richmond’s legacy as “The Cradle of Recorded Jazz”.

There will be a concert Friday evening after the VIP at Murray Theatre at 7:30pm by the Faux Frenchmen (a Gypsy Swing Quartet). Tickets will be sold to the public for $15.

All concerts and daytime events on Saturday are FREE to the public (Donations Accepted) and will take

Music & Arts Vendors will be open 12pm-6pm, the Food and Beer Garden will be open 12pm-6pm, there will be Free Kids Game & Activity booths from 12pm-4pm, and blow up rides will be there until 4:00pm. FREE concerts include the Jonny Hazard Band with Randy Baker, Brian Keith Whalen, Direct Contact Latin Jazz with Pavel, and featured performer, Duke Tumatoe & The Power Trio!

They will also be inducting one artist into the Walk of Fame, Scrapper Blackwell, and recognizing one featured artist, Jelly Roll Morton. There will also be a Post Party at Firehouse BBQ & Blues.

The ever-popular Rubber Duck Regatta will take place on the Whitewater River at 3:30pm.
