Since time immemorial, the official feast day of St. Roche has never been celebrated in the parish. His memory is

marked only on the day following the feast of St. Anthony of Padua, the principal patron. The parish centennial isan opportune time to recognize his unsung heavenly protection especially for the infirm members of the communi-ty.

Thus, on August 12, 13 and 14, a solemn triduum of Masses was held in honor of St. Roche. Fr. John E. del Valle, associate pastor of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, San Andres, celebrated the Eucharist on the first day and deliv-ered a homily on the topic, The Holy Spirit and the Work of Creation. Fr. Gary Q. Uchi, associate pastor of OurLady of Salvation, Palta, Virac, came on the second day and talked on The Holy Spirit and the Act of Redemp-tion. The third day was graced by the presence of Fr. Raymond Francis A. Aldave, associate pastor of the Immacu-late Conception Cathedral Parish, Virac and gave a homily on The Holy Spirit and the Birth of the Church.

The daily topics revolved on the Holy Spirit, who descended on the day of the Pentecost, purposely to accentuatethe theme of the centennial celebration: Cabugao Parish, 100 years: A New Pentecost. The opening of the centen-nial year was set on 15 August 2011, solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

On 16 August, feast of St. Roche, a procession was held at 4:00 in the morning, followed by a solemn High Mass at5:30, and a breakfast-fellowship at the parish formation center immediately after the Eucharistic celebration.

THIS YEARS YOUTH FESTIVAL had a double significance: it was an integralpart of the centennial year celebrations and a joyful commemoration of the 20th an-niversary of the foundation of the Parish Youth Movement (PYM). Born in 1991,during the fruitful tenure of Fr. Rene O. Tapel as Cabugao pastor, the PYM is nowthe longest-surviving youth ministry in the whole diocese. It takes charge of theannual youth festival which extends from December 26 to 30 every year. This yearsevent commenced with a torch parade, opening Mass, and Youth Jam on the firstday; and academic contests, sports tournament, motorcade and search for Miss

PYM, parlor games and outing on the succeeding days. A colorful Pista sa Nayon and awarding ceremonies capped the event. The PYM is currently underthe dynamic leadership of Mr. Allan Diaz.
