Proposed Actions

1.Request that Mayor Jacobs send a letter on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners to the Lake County Board of County Commissioners requesting that it continue the March 24th Public Hearing for the CEMEX Mining Conditional Use Permit (MCUP) to allow Orange County additional time to assess the impacts this CEMEX project would have on Orange County land use and transportation facilities.

Proposed Actions Cont.

2.Request that Mayor Jacobs’ letter also express the Board’s opposition to allowing truck traffic from the MCUP to access the Orange County road network, including Schofield Road and County Road 545, based on but not limited to, adverse impacts on Horizon West land uses, existing residences in west Orange County, and the Orange County road system.

Proposed Actions Cont.

3.Direct the Public Works Director to appear before the Board in the near future to explain strategies (such as signage and tonnage limitations) to protect the County road network, including Schofield Road, from adverse impacts of truck traffic from the CEMEX project in the event the project is ultimately approved by the Lake County Board of County Commissioners.
