Shri Singh urged the cooperative sector to adopt cashless methods to ensure transparency on a daily basis. He said that the Cooperative Sector with 8 lakh societies has covered 97% of villages in the country and such a large movement should not distance itself from the cashless initiatives. He also called upon that the people working in Cooperative Sector to change themselves to the rapidly changing competitive scenario.

Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management celebrated its Foundation Day on 15th January, 2017 in its campus. Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Hon'ble Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare inaugurated the Foundation Day. Presidential Address was given by Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, M.P. (Rajya Sabha), Chairman, NCCT. Shri Anil Shirole, Member of Parliament, Pune graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. The Calendar of Programmes of VAMNICOM for the year 2017-18 was released by Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Hon'ble Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare during the occasion.

An MoU was signed on 18th Janaury, 2017 between Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM) and National Institute of Cooperative Entrepreneurship, Mauritius to identify fields of mutual interest and create opportunities to develop Programmes for cooperation in training, education and other knowledge-based activities. The Hon'ble Minister Soomilduth Bholah, Minister of Business Enterprise and Cooperatives of the Republic of Mauritius along with Mr. D. Gaoneadry, Acting Permanent Secretary of the Minister & Mr. G. Seechurn, Director, National Institute for Cooperative Entrepreneurship, Mauritius visited VAMNICOM for signing of MoU between VAMNICOM and NICE, Mauritius. The team visited various successful cooperatives in Maharashtra such as Satara DCCB, Gokul Dairy, Shrivardhan Bio-Tech, Datta Sugar Factory etc.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY PROGRAMME

The Centre for Gender studies conducted an International Women's Day Programme on 8th March 2017 in the Institute's Jubilee Hall. The Programme was inaugurated by Smt. Rashmi Shulka, IPS-Commissioner of Police, Pune City was the Chief Guest. She said that women should feel empowered & stand up to their rights. Dr. Nandini Azad, President, India Cooperative Network for Women & Vice Chairperson Women's Committee, ICA, New Delhi, was the Guest of Honour of the programme. Dr. Azad also reiterated that women should be conscious of their health & their rights.

TH7 ALL INDIA CONFERENCE OF PRINCIPALS AND DIRECTORS OF COOPERATIVE TRAINING INSTITUTIONS AT GOA

NCCT in collaboration with Centre for Professional Excellence in Cooperative (C-PEC) BIRD, Lucknow convened 7th All India Conference of Principals and Directors of Cooperative Training Institutions (CTIs) at Goa on 25-26th March, 2017. The Conference was inaugurated by Shri R.G.N. Mule, Chairman, Goa State Cooperative Union. Shri Ulhas Baban Phal Dessai, Chairman, Goa State Cooperative Bank Ltd., Smt. Meena H Naik Goltekar, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Government of Goa, Mrs. Meenakshi Gad, Deputy General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Goa were the Guests of Honour in the Conference. Shri Nilay Kapoor, General Manager, NABARD Head Office, Mumbai, Dr. D.V. Deshpande, Director, BIRD, Lucknow, Smt. Shikha, DGM, C-PEC, BIRD, Shri Mohan Kumar Mishra, Secretary, NCCT were also present in the Conference. The Conference deliberated on the issues such as Professionalization of Cooperative Training Institutions, Accreditation of Cooperative Training Institutions, Use of Operational & Technical Manual for Cooperative Training etc. for enhancing the performance of the Cooperative Training Institutions. The Participants of the Conference were the Directors of Regional Institutes of Cooperative Management/ Institutes of Cooperative Management, Principals of Agriculture Cooperative Staff Training Institutes (ASCTIs), Directors/Principals of other Cooperative Training Institutions.

Students of MBA (Cooperative Management) from Gandhigram Rural Institute, Tamil Nadu along with Dr. C. Pitchai, Associate Professor and Dr. K. Dhevan, Assistant Professor visited NCCT on 15th March, 2017 for a study visit. NCCT officials interacted with the students and explained about the activities of NCCT and its training units. A brief presentation about NCCT and its activities was made before the students.

TECHNICAL TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR FISHERIES FARMERS

The Institute organised a 10-Day Technical Training Programme for Fisheries Farmers at the Institute from 05.01.2017 to 14.01.2017. Sh. Nishat Ahmed, Director, Fisheries, Govt. of Bihar attended the valedictory session as chief guest. While addressing the participants he detailed the govt. scheme for fish farmers and modalities to be benefited by the scheme. Shri Suman Kumar, Deputy Director, Fisheries, Govt. of Bihar elaborated the idea behind this training programme and Government's mission of skill and entrepreneurial development. Shri H.N. Thakur, Sr. Div. Manager (Retd.), Fish Development Corporation, Bihar outlined the need to generate self employment through establishment of hatcheries and fish land. Dr. K.P.Ranjan, Director of the Institute highlighted the role of Directorate of Fisheries, Govt. of Bihar in organizing series of these programmes at this institute and told the participants to utilize the skill and knowledge of fish technology and techniques in becoming a true entrepreneur.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

The Institute organised Orientation Programme for the Newly Recruited Officers/ Personnel of BSCB/DCCBs on 02.01.2017. Sh. Ramesh Chandra Choubey, Chairman, The Bihar State Cooperative Bank while inaugurating the Orientation Programme emphasized the need of training in changed scenario of Banking

Industry and to adapt the technological intervention which are taking at a very rapid pace. Sh. Mahesh Rai, Chairman, DCCB, Gopalganj & Director BSCB outlined the need of Cooperative Banks to compete with commercial and private sector banks. Shri Suresh Das, M.D., The Bihar State Cooperative Bank while congratulating the Newly Recruited Officers/Personnel of highlighted the role of cooperatives in the development of socio-economic conditions of downtrodden people of the society. He exhorted the participants to accept challenges lying before cooperative banks and vow to overpower the gaps in cooperative banking.

The Institute organised a four days Training programme on Financial Management, Cost Accounting and Audit for Primary Weavers' Cooperative Societies from 7.03.2017 to 10.03.2017 sponsored by Directorate of Textiles, Government of Odisha. The Institute has received the request to conduct 136 programmes for Directorate of Textiles.

The Valedictory Function of the 5 weeks training programme for newly recruited Inspectors of Cooperative Department, Government of Manipur was held on 14th February 2017 in the Conference Hall of ICM, Imphal. Shri L. Nabakishwar Singh, IAS, Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Government of Manipur graced the occasion as Chief Guest. PROGRAMME ON BUSINESS MODELS AND PROJECT PREPARTION FOR THE SECRETRARIES OF SCBs

ICM, Kannur conducted programme on new business model and project preparation during 23-25 January, under the financial assistance of NABARD. Programme kick started with the inauguration by Shri.Santhosh Kumar, the Lead Bank Manager, Kannur. The programme was a replication of lab to land programme. The in-house discussions were mainly concentrated on the replication of Business Correspondent model for credit business and promotion of capital investment for ensuring value addition to the Agricultural producers. A field visit to Anjarakandy Farmers Service Coop Bank enables the participants to observe various socio economic security schemes which has given members loyalty to the organization. The coconut processing sector and organic vegetable market benefited by participants to know the wider scope of agro processing ventures for Service Cooperative Banks.

EXPOSURE VISIT

The newly recruited 68 Auditors of Bihar who are undergoing Audit Diploma programme at RICM, Patna visited the Institute along with Dr. M.K Jha, Senior Faculty as part of their study visit to various Cooperative Institutions in Kannur Dist. from 24.02.2017 to 05.03.2017 . The team visited Dinesh Apparels, Dinesh Foods, Dinesh IT, Dinesh Umbrella etc which play a significant role in the development of Cooperative sector in Kerala.. Shri. ENTREPRENURSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

The Institute conducted 20 days Entrepreneurship Development Programme and Soft Skill Development Programme for the Women Entrepreneurs with the support and sponsorship of Lakshadweep District Panchayath. PROGRAMME ON CASHLESS ECONOMY

The Institute organised programme on Cashless Economy for the final year UG students of various colleges in and around Madurai on 15-04-2017. Shri.G.Suresh, Director explained the various modes of cashless transactions & faculty members Dr.V.Jayamohanan & Shri.S.Dharmaraj handled sessions on employability skills. Forty Four (44) students got benefitted by this programme.
