Welcome back and I hope you all had a fantastic half term break!

We’ve had a busy start to the term with lots of events and activities to enhance your learning experience here at the College.

In this edition of ‘Future’, you’ll see highlights from this year’s FE Awards Ceremony, HE Fair, Love Our College’s campaign and more.

With that said, we have lots of fun enrichment activities this term including Safer Learner Week on 11th – 15th November. I would like to encourage all students to participate in the sessions organised by the BeSafe Team.

Media students experienced the FUTURE at Samsung KX this October. Create, Make and Innovate is the theme and students did just that with virtual reality driving experiences, gaming on the latest 8K TVs and testing their DJ skills on the

latest sound systems.

Public ServicesAdventuresStudents enjoyed a day out at Gilwell Park as part of their Public Services course induction showing off their outdoor skills. Who knew they could be so sportive?

HEART DAYRESTART AWaltham Forest College actively participated in Restart a Heart Day on the 16th October, supported by trained staff members. Students and staff members were introduced to new life-

saving skills of CPR.

The Prince’s Trust Team Programme students were in their element while fundraising for the redevelopment of the William Morris Community Centre

building.

They have been working on the project in October to help give back to local communities. Overall, they succeeded by

raising £220 during their bakery sale.

It was all fun and games as the Senior Management Team engaged in a bidding war for the prized chocolate cake, which resulted in Principal Dr. Joy Kettyle, outbidding everyone during the sale! They also shared their support for the ‘Love Our

Colleges’ campaign!

FairThe College’s Annual HE

Fair was hosted in October with approximately 30

universities in attendance. During the fair, students

were given the opportunity to speak with universities and organisations to find

out more information about courses and career

opportunities that are available to them at their

institution.

Public Services students march to the Labour Party’s Walthamstow office to

deliver Love Our Colleges pledge cards.

Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP speaking with Digital Media, Health & Social Care

and Motorcycle Engineering students.During the ‘Love Our Colleges’ week, the College hosted

various activities and events to highlight the contribution that colleges make in transforming lives and communities

further education.

The Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith visited the College in support

around funding cuts and its implications to further education institutions.

The College held its 4th Annual FE Ceremony on the 17th October where students were awarded with certificates in

acknowledgement of their achievements.

Awards were given for ‘Most Improved’, ‘Highest Achiever’ and for the ‘Best Team Player’. During the ceremony, entertainment was provided as the audience enjoyed both

a song and a dance performance!
