Last Sunday marked the third week of Advent. The Joy candle is now alight and reminds us of

the joy that comes through Jesus’ arrival, and through the salvation he has gifted us. The

Shepherd’s Candle as it is sometimes referred to draws us even closer to the coming of Christ.

At Sacred Heart we have had many joyous occasions of late. Class excursions to celebrate our

time together, our Year 6 Graduation Assembly, our Kinder Nativity performances, our

Graduation Mass and Leavers Dinner to name a few. To see the joy on our students' faces, as

they anticipate the excitement of the end of the school year, summer holidays and Christmas is

so welcomed. May we all share in the Joy of the coming of Christ this week forward.

Throughout 2020 our students have grown in their understanding of the Good News and

continued their own faith journeys. We have endeavoured to not only learn in our Religion time,

but through all we do to be models of Jesus. Our students offer such wise words when I asked

them what they have learned about their faith this year. Here are some of their responses.

“I learned that God is everywhere and he will help me with anything.”

“I know that I can be like Jesus by helping people and loving them.”

“By doing MJR I can make a difference to others.”

“I learnt that we can help others less fortunate by fundraising, praying

and raising awareness.”

“I love God and God loves me. He thinks I am perfect.”

It is so easy to love our vocation when working with such wise young people.

May you all have a happy, safe and Holy Christmas. In Peace, Love and Happiness, Anna Davie (REC)
