This free local monthly guide to (traditional and original) live acoustic roots music is assembled by Larry Bruner and Wanda Finley, with various venue schedules collected by guitarist Joe Rollin Porter; Lake County and beyond from Ed Ollick; dance details by Heidi Nemeth; THANKS EVERYONE!

These pages of selected calendar items are incomplete, only a start. We urge you to support the growing number of other local events which also feature live acoustic roots music. We also are reminded these are future items subject to change.

Legend 3”x3” pictures are cover art of a brand new CD from the artist

please note that links to Facebook or ReverbNation do appear active, but their text often must be entered manually in your browser

outdoor music event = seating may or may not be provided

house/small hall concert = an informal, up close and personal listening experience, often in someone’s home by invitation

dance opportunity = contra, English country, swing, polka

participatory event = open mike (take turns), jam (play with others), community sing

Asterisks * = Some of these once-recurring events no longer exist. Your persistent feedback is essential. We need your help - - please, let us know corrections by email. ** = At “all ages” Beachland, Grog Shop and Musica shows, an additional $2 fee will be charged at the door for patrons younger than the age of 21. *** = A Wilbert’s show that is “Free admission, pay as you go” no door charge: when the basket is passed, or when you leave, pay what you think the music deserves.

If it's beginning to sound a lot like…well, yes –we are being bombarded with Christmas spirit.

According to Nielsen ratings, in 2015, Cleveland ranked number one in the nation in holiday

music on the radio.

A repeat performance seems likely this year, because, since mid-November,

the 3 stations that generated all those song spins have again switched to all-

Christmas all-the-time formats: "The Fish" WFHM FM 95.5, "New" WDOK

FM 102.1, "Majic" WMJI FM 105.7; now joined by Canton’s “My” WHOF

FM 101.7 and Youngstown’s “Mix” WMXY FM 98.9.

The most-played song was "Feliz Navidad," released in 1970 by Jose Feliciano, followed by

"Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee (1958), "Jingle Bell Rock" by Bobby

Helms (1957), "A Holly Jolly Christmas" by Burl Ives (1964) and "All I Want for Christmas Is

You" by Mariah Carey (1994).
