The following pages include all relevant conference information available to date, including venue details, workshops, conference registration form and cost, as well as information about the AGM.

The Conference and AGM will be held at the Theo Notaras Multicultural Centre. The Centre is located in downtown Canberra, above the Canberra Museum and Gallery and adjacent to the Canberra Theatre Centre and ACT Legislative Assembly. Details are on the right and a map is on the next page.

The conference will open with an official reception on Friday evening. All conference participants, as well as local ethnic community broadcasters from the ACT, are invited to attend. The plenary session will commence on Saturday morning with a full day of seminars and workshops.

The conference workshops will address issues about new media technologies, immigration and population policies/trends and their impact on ethnic radio, as well as a review of the Ethnic Grant Guidelines and training issues.

The Gala Dinner will be held on the evening of Saturday, the 6th of November. Tickets are $45 per head. Please indicate your attendance on the conference registration form.

We suggest you make your conference plans quite soon, as the conference date is drawing closer. We invite members and non-members of the NEMBC alike to attend. There are many accommodation options within walking distance of the conference venue and downtown Civic shops and restaurants – see the following page for our suggestions.

The NEMBC AGMThe NEMBC AGM will be held on Sunday, the 7th of November, starting at 9:00 am at the Theo Notaras Multicultural Centre. Please make sure your membership fees are paid so that you can vote on issues at the AGM.

The NEMBC Constitution and procedures require that, for the purpose of attendance and voting, members:

(b) Must represent a program broadcasting regularly, in a language other than English, or a multicultural program that is under the control of an ethnic broadcaster.

(c) Are entitled to one vote for every five financial members, or part thereof; to be eligible for voting rights a station must have at least three financial members of the NEMBC.

In order to vote at the AGM, radio stations or umbrella organisations must forward a letter of appointment of voting delegates to the NEMBC — the NEMBC Constitution states that “Delegates representing full-time ethnic and multicultural stations are appointed by the governing bodies of these stations.” A Letter of Appointment signed by the relevant President, Secretary or Manager, stating the names and number of votes for each delegate. This letter must be delivered by 5:00 pm on 6 November 2010 to the NEMBC Secretary either in person (at the conference) or via mail to PO Box 1144, Collingwood VIC 3066, fax to (03) 9486 9547, or email to [email protected]. For any assistance you may contact the NEMBC office on (03) 9486 9549.

We hope that you will be able to participate in our conference and AGM.

NEMBC Constitutional Amendments at the AGMFor some time now there has been a Constitutional Sub-Committee looking at improving the constitution and it will be hoping to present some proposed changes at this AGM. The proposed changes will be sent out to all members 28 days prior to the AGM. For more information please visit our website or call the Secretariat on 03 9486 9549.
