50th Anniversary Events:

Saturday, September 26• Village Walk for Cancer Research Opening Ceremony 7:30-8 a.m. at Balboa/Hernando Trail This is the opening of the virtual walk. Walkers have five days to compete their walking commitment independently. Registration is $30 with additional add-ons available. For information and registration, go to walkforcancerresearch.org.

• Shoot for the Stars Golf/Mini-Golf Tournament 8:30 a.m.-noon at DeSoto Recreation Area (mini golf) and DeSoto Golf Club Two-person teams will play 18 holes of mini-golf (alternate shot) and real golf (scramble). The deadline for entry is September 18. Entry fee is $30 per team plus applicable green fees at DeSoto Golf Club. No extra fees for mini-golf. Winners will be announced in the Village Digest the following Friday. You must sign up in advance with Dawn Johnson in the Golf Department (501-922-5549).

• Family Fun Day & Ice Cream Social 11 a.m.-2p.m. at Balboa Beach Come for the ice cream and stay for the fun. There will be inflatable bounce houses and a trackless train for kids. Music will be provided by Shannon Hushaw. Justin Chastant will entertain kids. Trademark Realty (Bob Sweeten)-ice cream; Balboa Baptist Church-train; Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Taylor Realty Group (David and Kimberly Taylor), Mount Carmel at the Village-children’s attractions; HSV Democrats Club-complimentary Mountain Valley Water. Music-Big Red Realty; 50th Anniversary merchandise available for purchase.

• Beach Party 5-9 p.m. at Balboa Beach Sponsors: Sacred Heart Catholic Church-complimentary Mountain Valley Water; HSV Breakfast Lions Club-ice cream; Hot Springs Village Realty (Sandy Carle), KVRE and The Village Voice-Treasure Hunt. Bubba Smith’s Chuck Wagon will sell barbecue with proceeds benefiting Promise for Haiti. Edward D. Jones will hand out gift bags. 50th Anniversary merchandise will be available for purchase.

• Colt & the Old 45s 6-8:30 p.m. at Balboa Beach Come and enjoy some classic tunes from a local favorite. Event Sponsored by Taylor Realty Group (David and Kimberly Taylor) and Boomers Rock.

Sunday, September 27• Anglers Club Team Fishing Tournament 7 a.m.-noon at Lake Balboa Beach This team tournament is open to POA Members and Guests. It costs $20 to join and fees will be collected at Lake Balboa. The event is sponsored by the Hot Springs Village Anglers Club.

• Wine & Cheese Paddle 3:30-6:30 p.m. at Cortez Pavilion Join us for our first ever wine and cheese paddle. The event is sponsored by Basecamp and the Hot Springs Village Recreation Department. It costs $12 to participate. Tickets are available at HSVTicketSales.com
