PROJECT TITLE:
The Construction of Suspension Bridge that will connect Baranggay Bonbon and Macabalan in Cagayan de Oro
City.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The people of Bonbon and Macabalan are fishermen who make their living from selling their produce in the
market. Unfortunately, the transporting of goods is hindered by the river of Cagayan de Oro, you have to travel far to
reach each other’s destination. To reach the market, you must travel many kilometers out of their way.
PROJECT GOAL:

The solution is to construct a bridge over the River so that the villages will have direct access to the main road
leading to the market.
RIVER DESCRIPTION:
Cagayan River, often called the Cagayan de Oro River, is one of the rivers draining the northern central part of
the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. The river has its headwaters in the Kalatungan Mountain Range and Kitanglad
Mountain Range found in the central part of the province of Bukidnon. It traverses the municipalities of Talakag,
Baungon and Libona, connecting tributaries along the way. It finally empties into the Macajalar Bay at Cagayan de Oro in
the province of Misamis Oriental. The river serves as the natural boundary between the province of Bukidnon and Iligan
and between Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro, based on the administrative order issued by the defunct Department of
Mindanao and Sulu during the American occupation of the Philippines. In Cagayan de Oro, it is the dividing line between
its two Congressional districts. The river drains an area of approximately 1,521 square kilometers. About 80% of the
drainage basin is located in the Province of Bukidnon and the rest is in Iligan and Cagayan de Oro.
BRIDGE DESCRIPTION:
A suspension bridge is a type of bridge in which the deck (the load-bearing portion) is hung below suspension
cables on vertical suspenders. This will be the first suspension bridge in the Region X and the 7 th bridge along the
