This volume developed by the Machine Tool AdvancedSkill Technology (MAST) program contains key administrative documentsand provides additional sources for machine tool and precisionmanufacturing information and important points of contact in theindustry. The document contains the following sections: a foreword;grant award letter; timeline for progress for the period October 1995to September 1996; record of industrial assessment, including anindustry-wide assessment of skills; dissemination/contacts forinformation and review, including a list of 47 industrialmanufacturing associations and their addresses and a chart ofStandard Industrial Classification and Dictionary of OccupationalTitles codes that serve as an index to an industrial listing ofindustries, addresses, and telephone numbers; minutes of key meetingsthat provide insights into the skills standards development andcurriculum update business; quarterly and annual reports of theprogram; and Internet applications and examples from the Internetthat deal with MAST. A discussion of the partner occupationalspecialty assignments breaks out the primary and secondaryresponsibilities by center and specialty. FOREWORD
This volume contains key administrative documents and is included in the deliverables to providethe reader additional sources for machine tool and precision manufacturing information andimportant points of contact in the industry. For example, this volume contains information onhow to use the MAST Home Page (http://machinetool.tstc.edu). It also contains StandardIndustrial Codes (SIC) listings of over 3,000 companies in the machine tool and metals relatedbusiness. These listings were used in the national survey.
This volume also contains useful information for current or future grant administrators,specifically those doing industrial skills standards research. It outlines some practical evaluationmodels/tools and provides information on how to track industrial assessment efforts. In addition,the minutes of key meetings provide insights into the skills standards development and curriculumupdate business.
This volume does not contain all the administrative documentation for the MAST Program. Thiscomplete set of information is voluminous. However, this information is available on CD-ROMby contacting:
