l Opening the LCD Monitor

The LCD monitor can be used to check an image during shooting, toplay back recorded images or to adjust menu settings. It can beopened to the following range of positions.

! = Opened right to left 180degrees.

Tilted forward 180 degreestoward the lens or backward

90 degrees.

When tilted forward 180 degreestoward the lens, the image shownon the LCD monitor is automaticallyflipped and reversed so that itappears correctly from in front of the lens.

Close the LCD monitor with

the LCD monitor facing out.

When the LCD monitor clicks intoplace against the camera body, theimage will return to its original,nonreversed orientation.

_] hen not using the camera, close the LCD monitor with themonitor facing in to protect it. The LCD monitor willautomatically turn off when it clicks shut against the camerabody.

The Date/Time settings menu will appear the first time the power isturned on. Set the date and time as shown in Step 3 and 4.

I_] • You can imprint the date and time you have set onto images(p. 69).• A rechargeable lithium battery is built into the camera to

save such settings as the date/time. Install the batteries intothe camera at time of purchase, or recharge batteries forabout 4 hours using the separately-sold AC Adapter KitACK600. tt will charge even if the camera is turned off.

• The date/time settings may be lost after approximately threeweeks if you remove the main batteries. Reset the date/timesettings if this occurs.

• When the camera focuses, itbeeps twice and the indicatorlights green (orange when theflash fires).

Mute Setting

Pressing the DISP. button while turning the camera power on will setthe mute setting to [On] to silence all camera sounds except forwarning sounds. The setting can be changed with the [Mute] option inthe Set up Menu.

Reviewing an Image Right After

Shooting (Rec. Review)

Recorded images are displayed on the LCD monitor for approximately2 seconds immediately after shooting.

You can also use the following methods to continue displaying theimage immediately after shooting so that you can check it.

o Keep the shutter button pressed fully.

o Press the _ button while the recorded image displays until itbeeps.

You can shoot by pressing the shutter button even when an imageis being displayed.

Night Display

When shooting at dusk or during the evening when the darksurroundings make it difficult to view the LCD monitor, the camera's"night view" option* displays the subject brightly in the LCD monitor.This will allow you to compose a shot even in dark environments (thissetting cannot be turned off).* Although noise may appear and the movement of the subject shown on the LCD

Histogram Function

The histogram is a graph that allows you to check the brightness ofthe image. The greater the bias toward the left in the graph, thedarker the image. The greater the bias toward the right, the brighterthe image, tf the image is too dark, adjust the exposurecompensation to a positive value. Similarly, adjust the exposurecompensation to a negative value if the image is too bright (p. 108).

Resetting Settings to Their Default Values[][]

Changing the Delay Time and Number of Shots

[_] f the [Shots] option is set to 2 or more shots, the followingOccurs.

- The exposure and white balance are locked at the settingsselected for the first shot.

- If the flash is used, the interval between shots lengthensbecause the flash must charge.

- The interval between shots may lengthen when the built-inmemory of the camera fills.

- Shooting will automatically cease if the memory cardbecomes full.
