STRUCTURAL REPORT: ARALUEN COUNTRY CLUB ESTATE (WA)

SUMMARY OF RESULTS OF STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS

TOWER STRUCTURE

• The proposed antenna support structure is a steel lattice, triangular cross section, exo-skeleton type free standing tower, nominally 24m in height. The structure is a Special Tower as per Structel drawing STD-4493, Issue 1, and surrounds the existing Southern Cross KVD Type tower.

• All steelwork, including connections, is presumed to be in good condition and fabricated as specified, effectively allowing consideration of full theoretical member capacity.

• The equipment loading arrangement considered in the assessment is as listed above.

• The existing structure has been assessed and has been found to have adequate capacity to support all listed equipment loading arrangement.

• Maximum expected member stress level is < 100 % of capacity.

• This report shall not be taken as certification or other authority to install future antenna reservations. It is possible that overstressing could occur with some configurations of future antennas and feeders. Therefore, assessment for actual future addition of antennas and design of mounting steelwork shall be undertaken and certified when such requirements are confirmed and proposed for installation.

• The above comments relating to the state of the structure are those uniquely determined by Structel for this assessment only, and shall not be used by any other design authority as a basis for ongoing certifications, assessments or comparisons for this or other sites.

• Please note that the above loading level is a global result and may or may not include local loading effects due to ancillary loads - which have been included in the analysis when known. Consideration of local loading effects can significantly alter member stress levels.

TOWER FOOTING

• The applicable geotechnical report that describes the sub-soil profile for the site is as per that prepared by Civiltest (Ref: 1160863). The sub-soil is reported to be a 0.5m deep layer of firm silty clay fill, overlying stiff silty clay continuing to at least 6.0m in depth.

• File documentation provided by Telstra, Radio Design (WA) on 8 September 2003, indicates that the footing for the existing Southern Cross KVD tower is a concrete stub type with a column diameter of 600mm, underlain by a base pad of 450mm depth/ 2000mm square and founded at a depth of 1800mm.

• It is understood that the footing has been augmented as per Structel drawing STD-0927, Sheet 5, which includes a triangular (plan view) shaped reinforced concrete pad of 5m width and 0.35m depth. The primary purpose of this pad is to provide both stiffening (upgrade) leg anchorage and to enhance overturning resistance.

• It is proposed to augment the footing further by enlarging to 6.0m square in plan and 0.75m in depth.

• Based on the above, the capacity of the footing and foundation system has been assessed for the listed equipment loading and has been found to be satisfactory in relation to both overturning (uplift) and thrust (bearing).

STRUCTURAL REPORT: ARALUEN COUNTRY CLUB ESTATE (WA)

• It is proposed to recover 3 x existing ARGUS CNPX308R-2P panel antennas (A4, A5, A6) at R.L. 22m on the existing Southern Cross KVD Tower and install 3 x HUAWEI APE4517R0 panel antennas (A27; A28, A29) at R.L. 22m, with azimuth bearings 60°, 150° and 290° respectively on the proposed exo-skeleton tower structure.

• It is further proposed to install a total of 3 x MHA, 12 x COMBINER and 18 x RRU adjacent the proposed panel antennas.

• The proposed equipment mounting steelwork is as per Sructel drawing STD-4549, Issue 1, comprising 'across-face' type mount arrangements.

• Structel certifies that the proposed equipment mounting steelwork, as depicted on the above stated drawing, can safely accommodate the proposed equipment loading arrangement specified, when assessed in accordance with the relevant Australian Standards.

REPORT FOR METHOD OF PROCEDURE 23.8m TOWER STRENGTHENING,

ARALUEN COUNTRY CLUB ESTATE, WA

GENERAL

The work requirement on the structure is as typically depicted on Structel drawing STD-4493, Issue 1. The extent of the work includes the installation of and augmented footing and erection of a exo-skeleton structure to approximate height R.L. 23.8m.

During construction the contractor shall be responsible for maintaining the structure in a stable condition and ensuring no part shall be overstressed under construction activities.

The contractor should familiarize the location of the proposed works in the RCSMB to identify areas of high RF radiation levels.

Any damaged galvanizing finish should be re-instated by the application of two coats of a zinc rich paint to all damaged steel surfaces.

The wo-ks shall not be performed if current and or forecast wind speeds exceed 15m/s (~55 km/h) at ground evel.

This MOP does not identify specific tools or mechanical aids that may be used to perform the works.

STEP BY STEP METHOD OF PROCEDURE

• Document site works for As-Built verification.

• Select suitable area for storage and assembly of materials. Section off work area with suitable barrier at ground level.

• Perform underground service location search in immediate surrounds of existing and augmented footing works location. Re-locate services if necessary.

• Conduct overhead search to confirm most suitable location(s) of construction plant, mechanical aids and lifting equipment (crane) if required.

• Sort and check all steelwork for footing and exo-skeleton tower installation.

• Remove existing tower compound fencing.

• Excavate around existing footing as required.

• Locate, position, and install all starter bar steelwork in the existing triangular pad footing.

• Scabble and clean all top and side surface of the existing pad footing.

• Photograph site works to verify as-built details.

• Complete installation of the new pad footing reinforcement, including suitable formwork as required and assembly of control-steelwork to maintain position of hold-down bolt arrangement.

ATTACHMENT A: METHOD OF PROCEDURE (MOP) - ARALUEN COUNTRY CLUB ESTATE (WA)

Pour concrete as specified for the new augmented footing. A minimum of five days should be provided from placement of concrete to commencement of exo-skeleton erection.

Identify work area on structure and any obstructions that may require re-location/temporary fixing. This includes feeder brackets and/or antenna mounting steelwork.

Erect exo-skeleton structure up to most suitable position below height of existing Optus equipment.

Remove existing Optus equipment from existing tower structure. (Installation of new Optus equipment is not covered in this MOP).

Complete erection of new exo-skeleton tower to R.L. 23.8m.

Remove all waste material and clean site.

Erect new compound fencing.

Take photographic evidence and prepare as-built sign off documentation.
