ORDINANCESFACULTY OF LAW

BACHELOR OF LAWS (LL.B.) (3 YEAR COURSE)

1. The course is a three year programme for professional decree

in Law.

2. The Examination for the degree of Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) shall consist of Part 1, Part II, and Part III examination spread over a period of three years. The examination of Part I, Part II and Part III will be held separately and yearly at the end of respective academic session.

3. The 3 years course of Law is offered to the students who have obtained their degree in graduation from any University within the territory of India or from any University situated outside India duly established by law and recognized as an equivalent by this University.

4. The students who have obtained their degree in graduation through a single sitting examination shall not be eligible for the admission in tins course in LL.B. I.

5. No candidate shall be eligible to pursue his/her studies in LL.B., Part II, or Part III unless he/she has cleared LL.B. Part I or Part II examinations respectively. A candidate who has passed Part I examination of another recognized University may also be admitted to LL.B. Part II examination provided that he/she had offered for Part I examination courses of equivalent standard with almost identical syllabus as is required for LL.B. Part-I examination of this University and has attended a regular course of study for one academic year in an affiliated college of the University.

Note : A candidate who has passed LL.B. Part I/Part II from another University as a private candidate or through correspondence courses shall not be allowed in LL.B. Part II or Part III..

6. No candidate shall be eligible for the award of LL.B. degree unless he/she has passed LL.B. Part I, Part II, and Part III examinations separately. The marks of LL.B. Part I, Part II, and Part III examinations shall be added together for the purpose of award of division.

7. No candidate shall be declared to have passed LL.B. Part Ior Part II or Part III examinations unless he/she has secured48 marks in aggregate of all theory courses subject to aminimum of 36% marks in each course of the concerned Partand 48% marks in Practical courses separately.

8. The division shall be determined on the basis of the aggregate of marks of all the courses prescribed for the LL.B. Degree as under:

First Division — 60% or above

Second Division — 48% or above but below 60%

9. After appearing in Part I or Part II or Part III examination, if a candidate fails to secure 36% marks in not more than two Courses and/or fails to secure the minimum aggregate of 48% marks in the concerned examination, he/she may be allowed to appear again at ensuing Back-Paper examination at the most in two theory courses.

10. A candidate shall be required to offer nine courses each in LL.B. Part I and Part II, and ten course (including four Practical Training Courses) in Part III examination, as prescribed in the syllabus. Each course will carry 100 marks.

11. That the Course of study in law shall be by regular attendance and a candidate appearing at any exam. Part I or II or III is required to put in a minimum attendance of 66% of the lectures on each of the

subject as also at Moot Courts & Practical Training Courses.

12. After Completing the required percentage of attendances, it a candidate does not

appear or does not pass in the main examination or if he is eligible to appear in

the Back-paper examination, he/she shall be declared to have failed at the

examination and shall have to re-appear in all the courses of examination

concerned in subsequent years as an Ex-student without attending further regular

classes.

13. A candidate who does not earn the LL.B. (3 years Course) degree in Six Years,

shall cease to be candidate for the degree. The period of six years shall be

reckoned from the academic session in which he started his candidature.

14. A candidate who has failed in Part I/Part II/Part III examination conducted by any

other University shall not be allowed to appear in LL.B. Part II, and Part III

examination conducted by this University as a regular or as an Ex-student.

15. Any candidate who has passed LL.B. examination of this University, may be

allowed to present himself for examination in any one course prescribed for

LL.B. examination and not taken by him at the earlier examination. Candidates

securing minimum 48% marks will be given a certificate to that effect.

16. A candidate who desires to appear at the examination under this ordinance 15 shall

get himself registered in a college affiliated to the University and submit his

application form to the college along with prescribed fee by the date fixed for

regular students appearing at the examination. All such application forms shall be

forwarded by the Principal of the affiliated College to the University. The

candidate will appear as an Ex-student.

17. No student shall be permitted to offer any other degree or diploma course either of this university or of any other University or Institution along with LLB course.

18. For each paper/course there shall be lecture classes of at 3 hours per week.

19. The library of the college or University Department shall remain open for at least 8 hours on every working day.

20. That the University Institute of Legal Studies and the Law Departments of Law College affiliated to the University shall be deemed to be the Professional Law Colleges for the purpose of Bar Council of India.

21. That the Dean Faculty of Law, Convener of the Board of Studies in Law and the Convener of Research Degree Committee in Law shall be a teacher of Law discipline only and from the traditional law college which are not self-finance law College/Institutions or Departments.

22. The admission to LL.B. Part I shall be made on the basis of guidelines provided by the University and Bar Council of India.
