A QUESTIONNAIRE ON CCM TRAINING #2

    1. What is the difference between pump flow rate and flow rate?

This is defined as the total flow rate of 8 strands in addition with 10 %

    of the flow rate.

    2. Why is inlet pressure more in open water circuit than that in closed

    water circuit?

Inlet pressure is kept higher in case of open water circuit because

there is no resistance which can provide the spontaneous pressure to

the fluid. On the other hand, in case of closed water circuit, the

spontaneous resistance is provided to achieve the required flow

    pressure.

    3. What is the area of fuel gas consumption?

Ans. Fuel gas is used for

    a. Preheating the tundish

    b. Preheating the tundish nozzle

    c. Tundish drier

    4. Write the approx. Calorific Value of the fuel GASES used in CCM.

    5. What are the Anchor Holes?

These holes are used for hooking up for giving support to the sections.

    6. What are the following terms?

    Relevent Trenches:

These are used for the wiring of cables, pipeline networking etc. It is

made like a drain into which the wires and pipeline etc. are sent to the

    required places.

    7. At what places the civil structure will be provided?

    Live load: movable load

Dead Load: fixed load, Unmovable equipments and machines

Material load: Structures, beam, column, floor, concrete, roofing

    material etc.

    8. What are the shuttering drawings?

This is the temporary support to the constructed design like floors,

columns etc. This is removed after a certain period when required

reinforcement is achieved. So the drawings related to the shuttering is

known as shuttering drawing which will be provided by SMS CONCAST.

    9. What are the reinforcement drawings?

These are the drawings related to the reinforcement of floors with

concrete. Drawings include different reinforcement points so that

    structures can be designed properly.

    10. What are the Excavation Drawings?

For setting- up of any equipment, the load baring capacity is defined

accordingly and for which excavation is done at different depths so up

to what extent the excavation should be done, is shown through these

designs. These will also be provided by SMS Concast.

    11. Write down the names of different structural units and their

    application.

    1. Ladle Slide Gate connection platform: platform to connect the

media hoses and cylinder to ladle slide gate.

    2. Steel Structure for rigid dummy bar storage unit: To support

connection between concrete foundation and machine base plates

of the rigid dummy bar storage units.

    3. Torch cutting steel structure: To support connection between

concrete foundation and machine base plates of the Torch Cutting

    units.

    4. Machine Support Structure: To support connection between

concrete foundation and machine base plates.

    5. Support structure in cross transfer structure: To support the

discharge equipment in cross transfer area.

    6. Mechanical Erection Material: For fixation material are as follows

    7. Mould Operating Panel Mounting Structure: To support the fixedmounted, mould operation panel.

    8. Cooling Chamber: The cooling chamber surrounds the secondary

    cooling zone.

    9. Duct Work for steam exhauster: Extraction of steam generated in

cooling chamber. It is located between the walls of cooling chamber

    within machine boundary.

10.Steam Exhauster for cooling chamber: Extraction of steam

    generated in cooling chamber.
