Drafting a review of its environmental policy and objectives.
Establishing a register of their activities that cause pollution plus an action plan.
Regulatory monitoring and audit. Setting up performance indicators (waste management and recovery, harmonisation of lighting, staff training, better use of consumables, etc.).
Setting up an effluent management system (careening water management, stormwater treatment, control of pollution incidents).
The initiative will help the teams in the port of Calais give greater consideration to the environmental and sustainable development issues involved in the “Calais Port 2015” extension scheme.

After being involved for several years in various environmental initiatives, the Port of Calais joined the ECOPORTS* association in January 2008 to benefit from the feedback from other ports involved in the initiative and to reduce the environmental impacts of its activities.

and long-term projects.

In parallel to its membership, the Port of Calais undertook PERS certification (Port Environmental Review System), which was awarded to the port by Lloyd’s Register on 30 August 2010.
The certification, which integrates certain features of the ISO 14001 standard, is based on the principle of continuous improvement in the following areas: environmental policy, personnel management, training, communication, operational management, contingency planning, monitoring, tracking and recording of information, environmental audit and review.
