To protect the CWB tunnel structure from damage by fire incidents more effectively, thermal barrier system was introduced to CWB which is its first application in road tunnels of Hong Kong.

項目之一。工程團隊非常重視安全,

並精益求精,力求進一步提升繞道的

安全設備。因此,為了更有效保護

繞道的隧道結構免受火警損害,工程

團隊為繞道引入了首次應用於香港

行車隧道的隔熱塗層系統。

The Central - Wan Chai Bypass and Island Eastern Corridor Link (“CWB”) is one of the mega-size infrastructure projects in Hong Kong. 繞道內的隔熱塗層

Thermal Barrier in CWB

特性

隔熱塗層是噴置於結構混凝土表面的

堅硬、結實及高穩定性的防火塗料,

而隧道結構會噴置兩層總厚度達到

35毫米的塗料,並具2小時防火作用,

最高可抵禦攝氏 1350度的高溫。

整條隧道共噴置了7千立方米的隔熱

塗層,以提供一個更安全的駕駛

環境。

FeaturesThermal barrier is a tough, hard and highly stable fire resisting coating applied to the surface of structural concrete. Two layers with total thickness of 35mm are sprayed on the tunnel structure to achieve 2 hour fire protection, with the maximum temperature up to 1350oC. A total of 7000m3 of thermal barrier would be sprayed to the tunnel surface for providing a safer driving environment.

概覽

繞道的主幹道隧道長3.7公里。主幹道隧道及連接路均於

天花及離地2.5米以上的牆身表面噴置隔熱塗層。

為了確保隔熱塗層的效用,工程團隊

在不同等級的混凝土樣本噴置了不同

厚度的隔熱塗層,並將樣本送往荷蘭

的獨立測試實驗室進行防火測試。

OverviewThe tunnel section of trunk road of CWB is 3.7km long. Thermal barrier is applied on the surface of the ceiling and the side walls 2.5m above the ground for both trunk road tunnel and the slip roads.

To ensure the effectiveness of the thermal barrier, fire tests were carried out for specimens with different concrete grades and thicknesses at independent testing laboratories in the Netherlands.

噴置工序

工人會將噴灑式帽貝蛭石 (Sprayed Limpet Vermiculite) 與水混合製成塗料,並檢查塗料的質量。確定塗料質量

適合使用後,工人會按照建築圖則將塗料噴置在已清洗的

混凝土表面。

工程團隊須嚴格控制噴置時間、角度、噴槍與混凝土表面

的距離,以及塗料的厚度等各種因素,以確保隔熱塗層

符合規格。

完成噴置隔熱塗層後,工程團隊會為隔熱塗層進行檢查及

測試以確保塗層的厚度達到35毫米及質量符合標準要求。

Application ProcessThe workers would mix the Sprayed Limpet Vermiculite with water to form the coating and check the quality of the mixture. Having checked the mixture adequate for use, the workers would apply it on the cleaned surface of the concrete structure in accordance with the construction drawings.

To ensure the quality of thermal barrier, various factors such as timing of application, spray angle, spray distance as well as the thickness applied, etc have to be carefully controlled.

Upon completion of application, inspections and tests would be carried out by the project team to ensure that the applied thickness reached 35mm and the quality of thermal barrier met the standard requirements.
