Dear Students, This program handbook has been prepared for your general information and guidance as a student of Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) in Information Security, to familiarize you with the program structure and information related to the program throughout your study at the college. It is important that you read through and understand the contents of this book as a source of reference. Knowledge oriented student is vital in ensuring all students and staff of the college fulfil the mission and vision of the college to produce graduates who are proactive, progressive and professional. SECTION 1
PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
INTRODUCTION
The Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) in Information Security is a homegrown
degree program specifically designed to deliver a suitable level of theoretical and
practical understanding in information technology and cyber security that is useful in the
workplace. Its first intake was in September 2015 and has achieved full accreditation
from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) starting from 4th January 2018.
This programme consists of various Body of Knowledge in Information Technology and
offers courses such as information system security, cryptography, ethical hacking,
mobile application security, management information security, network security, security
assurance, digital forensic, entrepreneurship, final year project and industrial training.
Students learn to design, implement, integrate and manage various security
infrastructure components through a mix of theoretical and hands-on activities.
At the end of the program, graduates should be able to demonstrate specific skills in the
areas of information technology and cyber security as well as apply their knowledge and
skills to solve problems and make decisions in fast growing cybersecurity field.
This programme is suitable for those who are interested in working with the government
and private sectors as security engineer, security analyst, network security engineer,
network security specialist, data security analyst, security administrator, information
security architect, application security tester, information security consultant or senior IT
auditor.
Graduates can also further their study at master level in local higher institutions in
specific field such as Computer Security, Network, Software Engineering or Information
Science.

PROGRAMME INFORMATION
1. Programme Title : BACHELOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (HONS) IN IFORMATION SECURITY 2. Programme Code : CT 205 3. Duration : 3 years 4. Total Credit Hours : 120 5. Medium of Instruction : English and B. Melayu (for MPU courses)
6. Entry Requirement : i. A pass in Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia
(STPM) or its equivalent with a minimum
Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in any two (2) subjects,
and credits in Mathematics at SPM level;
OR
ii. A pass in Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM)
or its equivalent with a minimum Grade Jayyid
and minimum Jayyid in any two (2) subjects,
credits in Mathematics and at SPM level;
OR
iii. A pass in Matriculation / Foundation or its
equivalent with a minimum CGPA 2.00 and
credits in Mathematics at SPM level;
OR
iv. A Diploma in Computer Science OR Software Engineering OR Information Technology OR Information System OR equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and credits in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent;
OR
v. Any other Diploma in Science and Technology
or Business Studies with a minimum CGPA of
2.50 maybe admitted subject to a rigorous
internal assessment process and credits in
Mathematics at SPM level or equivalent;
AND
For international students, a candidate must achieve a score of Test of English As A Foreign Language (TOEFL) Minimum 500 or International Language Testing System (IELTS) minimum Band 5.0.

7. Programme Educational Objectives:
PEO1 possess the theoretical and technical knowledge of key elements in network and information security with strong analytical and critical thinking skills in computing
PEO2 apply skills in information technology and information security to address business opportunities and challenges which concentrates on the concepts and principles of securing and protecting the information assets of the organization
PEO3 are responsive to changing environment, and able to continue learning independently in the acquisition of new knowledge and skills
PEO4 have communication, team, leadership and interpersonal skills, and aware of the social, ethical and legal responsibilities
PEO5 have managerial and entrepreneurial skills with broad business and real world perspective.

9. Awarding Body: Kolej Universiti Poly-Tech MARA 10. Programme Standards: The programme has been developed based on the
requirement of Malaysian Qualification Framework (MQF). MQA is a statutory body in Malaysia set up under the Malaysian Qualifications Act 2007 to accredit academic programs provided by educational institutions providing post-secondary or higher education and facilitate the accreditation and articulation of qualifications. This curriculum for this programme has been designed based on the MQA Computing Programme Standards 2015.

Kursus ini akan mendedahkan kepada pelajar perkara-perkara asas dalam bahasa Arab seperti huruf-huruf hijaiyyah, tatabahasa dan empat kemahiran bahasa (mendengar, membaca, menulis dan bertutur) berdasarkan situasi yang telah ditetapkan. ARB302 ARABIC 2 Prerequisite: ARB301
Kursus ini merupakan lanjutan kepada kursus Bahasa Arab 1. Pada peringkat ini, insya Allah para pelajar akan dibimbing untuk meneruskan kemahiran Bahasa Arab berdasarkan peringkat asas yang telah dipelajari. Pertambahan silibus yang bersesuaian diharap dapat memberi pengukuhan bahasa kepada para pelajar dalam menguasai empat kemahiran bahasa di tahap sederhana. The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of knowledge related to politics and world civilization. The main purpose of this course is to ensure the students are able to understand current issues globally. This subject will expose the students with theoretical knowledge of entrepreneur and entrepreneurship, the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs and the common types of new business venture. This subject provides students with the basic knowledge and process on how to prepare a business plan. Students will learn basic areas that are related to entrepreneurship disciplines such as management, marketing, operation, human resource management and accounting. It also requires students to do research and consultation with their respective lecturers in preparing the business plan. The Academic Calendar for KUPTM has the following features:
KUPTM uses a 3 three semester system in which a short semester is sandwiched between two long semesters.
The first semester of the academic year normally begins in January.
For the long semester, a 7-1-7 split of instruction weeks and semester break followed by 1 week study leave and 2 weeks of final examination.
The second semester of the academic year normally begins in middle of the year which is a short semester with 7 instruction weeks followed by 1 week of revision week and 1 week of final examination.
The third semester of the academic year begins in September which is another long semester.
Class replacement will be done in cases where public holidays disrupt the accumulation of 14 instruction weeks within a long semester or 7 instruction weeks of the short semester.
The semester break may be adjusted whenever possible to coincide with major public holidays (such as Hari Raya and Chinese New Year Celebrations) to minimize class replacement.
