THE CBSE-TERI GREEN OLYMPIAD 2019

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) has been conducting GREEN Olympiad in India and abroad for students. This Olympiad checks the environment quotient of students and is aligned with the current school curriculum. This unique initiative also enhances their appreciation of sustainability issues. About GREEN Olympiad Conducted by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi since

1999 Students of classes IV to X can participate at their respective levels, given

below: Level 1 (for students from classes IV and V) Level 2 (for students from classes VI, VII and VIII) Level 3 (for students from classes IX and X)

Questions are woven around environmental issues, and assess environment-related sensitivity of the students.

Questions on a range of issues related to water, waste, energy, air, agriculture, urban landscapes, biodiversity, climate change, and sustainable development are included in the examination.

Medium : English and Hindi (schools can opt for any one medium) Schedule : 18 September, 2019 and 16 October, 2019 (Schools can opt for any one date) Duration : 1 Hour (10:00 am to 11:00 am IST) Registration fee : Rs. 75/- per student, payable through school only

Certification

All participants are eligible to receive Certificate of Distinction / Merit / Participation according to their individual performance

All School Heads are requested to motivate their students to participate in ‘GREEN Olympiad 2019’.

GREEN Olympiad is a written examination comprising objective questions that test environment awareness and analytical skills of students. Questions on a range of issues related to water, waste, energy, air, agriculture, urban landscapes, biodiversity, climate change, and sustainable development are included in the examination.

Schools affiliated to a recognized education board /trust can register for this Olympiad.

Individual registration will not be accepted from students, and they can register only through their school.

Students from classes IV – X can participate in this Olympiad through three levels (Level 1- IV & V; Level 2- VI, VII & VIII; Level 3- IX & X). Schools can either fill in the attached form and mail to TERI, or register ‘Online’ through the project website - www.teriin.org/olympiad*.

School will be a center for its registered students, and can nominate any number of stu dents for this examination at each level. However, participation of a minimum number of 10 students per level is mandatory. Examination material will be delivered directly to schools closer to the date of examination.

Results will be posted to schools and also available online. All participants will receive a ‘Certificate of Participation/Merit or Distinction ’ depending on their individual performance. Coordinating teachers will receive a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ from TERI. Information related to awards and incentives are available on the project website*. Schools are encouraged to check the website regularly for updates. Schools are also requested to remember the code issued to them to access online results.

Each participating student has to pay Rs 75/- ‘Registration Fee’ to his/her school. After deducting Rs. 5/- per student (towards expenditure for conducting examination in their school premises), school has to pay total registration fee ( i. e. Rs. 70/- × number of participating students) through a Bank Draft drawn in favour of TERI, payable at New Delhi. Cash/ cheque will not be accepted.
