Utilize the reading time. Shortlist what you know the best in the choice-based questions. The reading time may also be utilized to read the passages forcomprehension

Answer the comprehension questions precisely. Be accurate in choosing the correct words for vocabulary. Do not give two options for the words

Draft notes with a proper title and construct short sentences. Give sub-headings and indent to indicate paragraph change

Use abbreviations restricting the number as specified in the question

Draw a proper box for the key

For writing, follow the correct format and adhere to the word limit. Be relevant and answer the questions using grammatically correct expressions. You maymake a rough column but ensure this is not at the cost of time. Knowledge of current topics from various f ields is of immense help in this section

Thorough reading of the text is imperative. Never follow the selective-study strategy

In case of reference-tocontext questions, ensure that there is no repetition of answers while attempting the various sub parts

Long answer questions Dont write in general terms mentioning merely the story line. While writing a character sketch, mention the qualities and support itwith evidence from the textbook

Value-based question This emphasizes the value and key messages intermingled with the textual content. It is a 5 mark question which is evaluated onthe basis of content and expression. Students must adhere to the word limit 100 words

Legible handwriting, neat work, leaving space between the answers and underlining value points has a positive impact on the examiner

Never allocate time inappropriately to the various sections

It is imperative to solve at least 5 sample papers

Attempt the question paper in a sequence

Know the marks each chapter carries. For example, Pblock elements alone have a weightage of more than 11%. It includes preparation of substances likechlorine, hydrogen chloride, sulphuric acid, nitric acid, oxides & oxoacids of nit rogen, phosphorus, sulphur and halogens. At the last minute, focus on oxidizing,

In organic chemistry, stress must be laid on the following name reactions. Brown Hydroboration, Carbylamine Reaction (Isocyanide Test), CannizzaroReaction, Clemmensen Reduction, Coupling Reaction, Rosenmunds Reaction, Riemer-Tiemann Reaction, Fries Rearrangement, Friedel-Crafts Acylation

Reaction, Gabriel Phthalimide Reaction, Hinsbergs Test, Hoffmann Bromamide Reaction, Sandmeyers Reaction, Diazotization. These not only help in organicconversions but also in solving word problems. Distinction between pair of compounds and mechanism of organic reactions for one or two marks is generallyasked in the examination

Revisit Class XI concepts like hyperconlugation, inductive effect & resonance or mesomeric effect with reference to organic compounds to master reasoningquestions. This helps in understanding the basic character of amines, acidity of carboxylic acids relative stability of molecules and reactivity of molecules

Learning formulae is not as difficult as applying them at the right place, eg, in integration-by-parts, students have to be able to identify the first function and thesecond. Application comes easily only with practice

For a word problem, first read the question and make sure you comprehend it. Get an idea of what is being asked. First write down the information given, then

work out what is to be found. Convert problem into a mathematical relationship

Marketing management and financial management both commanding 14 and 12 marks, respectively are best done early

Practise last two years board papers plus CBSE sample papers

Stick to the NCERT textbook and leave no chapter. There is internal choice only in 6-mark questions

FOR EXAM

Preferably start by answering 6-mark questions. Write them in 200-250 words by properly highlighting your points. Unless otherwise instructed, write at least 6points for a 6-mark question with requisite explanation

Supplement answers with diagrams and examples where possible

Difference between two terms should be presented in tabular form giving basis of difference

Questions should be attempted in descending order of their weightage. For questions with 1, 3 & 4 marks, students write too much and lose track of time,leaving insufficient time for questions with 5 & 6 marks

Use the 15 minutes given before the paper starts to recollect answers to one-mark questions

Try not to leave any question unanswered
