“Be a Channel of Blessings”

Some of the most provocative insights in the Edgar Cayce readings are indexed under the heading: “Quotes and Similes.” The readings are filled with reiterated expressions and sayings. Some of these expressions are widely known such as: “Why worry when you can pray” and “Actions speak louder than words.” Other sayings are unexpected and less widely known, such as: “the extremes meet in the Christ” and “we are co-creators with God.” In the use of these in the readings we find not the ordinary and the trite but rather deep and delightful insights. Some of these may even be called universal laws. This series of circulating files contains the best of these “sayings” used by Edgar Cayce. When apropos, related topics are presented in the same file. These files may be useful in a number of ways. They serve as a unique approach to the readings. They will be useful to the speaker or writer who wants to make a point or present a specific slant. Study groups will find tools for applicable disciplines. And for all of us, these “quotes and similes” provide an unexpected gold mine of inspiration and guidance for daily living.

Acting as a “Channel of Blessings” is shown in this file to be the soul’s purpose for entering materiality. Practical suggestions are given for individuals and groups to assist in finding effective channels for attaining this goal. The promise is that in the application of that we know to do, He will direct us in the ways we should go.

PART I

The Soul’s Purpose for Entering Materiality

To be a channel of blessing to others is that purpose for which each soul has come

into conscious activity in a material world. [3161-1, Female 66, 8/17/43]

For, experience or sojourns in the earth are not by chance, but that each soul may

- in finding itself - contribute to that welfare of its fellow man in such a manner as to make the world better for the entity having lived therein. This might be truly said of this entity, as to its purpose, its intent.

Then, to assist the entity in finding those channels, those outlets through which it

may give the better expression, and thus be the greater channel of blessing to others, is the import hoped to be imparted here. [2618-1, Female 40, 11/15/41]

Life itself is a manifestation of that called God in the earth. Give thanks for the

very fact that ye are conscious of yourself, even with the frailties of the body; that thy mind and thy purposes and thy hands may do much to show the appreciation in self of the opportunity in this experience to be a channel of blessings to others, in making known to others the love of the Christ for those who are weak in body, who are hindered from the activities of a normal physical world. For know, there is that awareness that should be in self, that the very fact ye are

conscious of thy activity in the material plane should be evidence that thy Father-God hath need of thy service in the earth, and that through the present activity ye are given the opportunity to be a channel of blessing to someone. [5177-1, Female 65, 5/24/44]

As to the appearances in the earth, these, as may be gathered from that indicated,

have been quite varied. Not all may be given here, but the pattern of that which is, has been and may be, the awareness of the individual. Use them as stepping-stones for self becoming a greater channel of blessing and understanding to others.

Hence the entity in the present finds itself as one loving freedom, yet latent within

self there is somewhat of a resentment when there are not agreements. Be more in accord with not necessarily the times or the day, but know that others can think as well as yourself, and it’s worth listening to. (continued on the next page)

Use that ye may apply in thyself, not selfishly, nor yet that ye may lord over others, but that ye may in the greater measure be a channel of blessings to others; spiritually, mentally, materially; not attempting to control others’ thoughts but offering opportunities. [5118-1, Male 58, 4/19/44]

Thus may the self be worthy of the hire, in giving honest labors - not of chance, not of foreknowledge, not of other than as He hath given - even to the ox that treadeth the corn is there the deserving of those influences that maketh life to him but the satisfying of the needs of the body. Then how much greater in the eyes of the Maker is the soul that seeks to do good, not for glory, not for fame, but that the knowledge of the Lord in its associations with its fellow man may make for this greater channel of blessings to others. [417-8, Male 42, 12/2/36]

These experiences in the earth are not that one may glory in self, whether by fame

or fortune or a wonderful accomplishment to the detriment of other souls, but that each shall ever be a channel through which blessings and help may come to others. [2509-2, Female 48, 9/12/43]

For the purpose of each soul’s entrance into materiality is to be a channel of blessings to others. Not for self, but losing sight of self and giving that which is the greater concept of the relationships that souls bear to the Creative Forces - and the MANNER in which these may be expressed, manifested or experienced by individuals in their dealings with their fellow men. [1604-1, Female 70, 6/2/38]

For, each sojourn is of a purposeful nature; not by chance, but that there may be

the fulfilling of that purpose for which each soul enters into a material experience, - that is, to be a channel of blessings to others in the ways and manners that the soul may take hold upon eternal life, in those manners that have been exemplified through Him, - who is the way and the life in the earth, in the heavens, in all forces of same. [2072-1, Female 29, 1/3/4]

This, then, is the purpose of the entity in the earth: To be a channel of blessing to

someone today, now; to be a living example of that He gave, “Come unto me, all that are weak and heavy laden - take my Cross upon you and learn of me.” [2794-3, Female 34, 11/19/43]

….Be mindful that there are not habits formed, or activities, that would desecrate

the body; but rather let it still remain as the temple of the living God. For this is what it is meant to be, that ye may indeed be a channel through which many of thy brethren may come to know the love that passeth understanding, and the peace and harmony that comes only through the closer walk with the man of Galilee. [3651-1, Male 20, 1/15/44]

….True, as the entity has experienced from its appearances, as well as its training and influences in the present, those that would aid must follow in a very DEFINITE line or channel of activity, as must the entity for itself lay its plans well and hew to the line - as all must in their activities, to the ENTITY’S own understanding; yet with these lessons gained, that each in their OWN way must be the channel of blessings to others, may the entity - with the APPLICATION of that gained in self’s OWN experience - give to others a greater understanding, bring a greater development for self in the years to come - and these, as we find, will be many in this experience, are these kept much in the manner or the channel as has been laid out FOR the entity by itself. Many are the virtues, many are the faults; but we would give that as would

magnify the virtues and minimize the faults. This is one of the greater virtues in the entity minimizing the faults of others; though the entity also passes judgments on those that it would minimize and magnify those whom it would condemn. Hast thou not read, forgive as ye would be forgiven, condemn not that ye be not condemned? This applies to all. For the Father-God is not a respector of persons as individuals, and if one would come to be the greater channel of blessings to others it is less and less expressive of self and more and more for others. Thus ye will find that such activities and attitudes will bring into thy experience the greater peace. Not by “Don’t do this - Don’t do that! I won’t have this - I won’t have that!” Rather in that same manner in which ye have held and do hold in thy own heart and mind the love not of self, not of desire as to satisfying of physical relationships or activities, but in the singleness of purpose that each day, each activity may be a manifestation of being a channel of blessing to someone day by day!

But with the awakening as to its faults and fancies, as well as its virtues, the entity

may apply itself in such a manner that it may take advantage of the greater opportunities presented in a material and mental manner for being a greater channel of blessings to others….

For this experience of every soul in the material plane is not mere chance, but the fulfilling of that as was set in motion from the entrance of Spirit into matter; that man may know his true relationship to the Creative Forces.

And that exemplified in the life and experience of the Master is the only manner in which such may be known; for only in the manner in which an individual applies self in his relationships to his fellow man is there materially manifested one’s concept or one’s glorifying of the Maker.

For, “Inasmuch as ye do it unto the least, ye do it unto thy Maker.”

Then use that thou hast in hand. Not to thine own glory but that there may be, through thy GIVING of thyself as a channel, a blessing to others, in every phase of their experience, in HIS name! [1246-4, Female 53, 5/16/38]

Let thy yeas be yea, yes - but self-effacement is the better part of valor, for the

attaining - not of that as desired for self but of that necessary for being a channel of blessings to others. [2468-1, Female 22, 3/20/41]

Be patient; be consistent; be loving in thine relationships to those that are seeking.

For He, thy Lord, may use thee as a channel of blessings to many. [982-4, Female 35, 10/24/35] YE CAN be a channel of blessings to others, whatever may be thy physical state,

- provided there is the application of that which is known within self of the divine manifesting through a material chamber. [2968-1, Female 19, 4/21/43]

As to the material sojourns, - these also have their urges latent and manifested in

the experience of the entity in its earthly experiences, - through the emotions of the body. Here we find warnings as well as great virtues to be pointed out to the entity, in the varied experiences through which it has passed and does pass in its search for, in its desire to become a greater channel of blessings to others. [2402-2, Female 56, 11/16/40]

There are varied attributes of the physical body, as habits, desires, hopes, activities, that may come from what one sees, hears, smells or entertains in the inner self - or what the body is aware of. Then there are the habits of the body itself. All of these, too, may be taken into consideration, as to whether these will conform to the ideals attained from spiritual and mental choices, which will enable the entity to apply self in those directions such that it may ever be a contribution to the welfare not only of self - physically, mentally and spiritually but also a help to others. For this, too, is a part of the whole. For these are the immutable laws. For thy Father-God is within self and without. Then as ye treat thy fellow man, ye are treating thy Maker. These are immutable, unchangeable laws of divine origin - not of man’s concept. What ye sow in body, in mind, in purpose, ye must one day in the physical being, reap. That, too, is immutable, unchangeable. Thus what ye do to others, ye are doing to thyself, whether it is in abuse of privileges, abuse of body, abuse of mind, or just the opposite in adding to the abilities in any direction.

These are the manners in which the entity may apply its mental and spiritual attributes all to make a greater contribution to life and to the material things about the entity. (continued)

Do that. In patience, persistence, brotherly love, kindness, gentleness, do these things. And ye will come to mean much to others, ye will be a channel of blessings to others - the purposes for which ye entered this material sojourn. [3198-3, Male 26, 1/20/44]

Become, then, a channel of blessings to others, and thus may the beauties of the HEAVENLY forces - as may be expressed in such - be thine very own. Beauty for Beauty’s sake. Love that it may be the manifestations of not bodily emotions but rather those that show forth HIS activity in and among men. [1189-1, Female 22, 4/28/36]

Hold to the Ideal

Ye are limited only by how close ye observe thy ideal in relationships of thy fellow man in mental and material activities, guided and directed by and through thy spiritual desire to be a channel of blessings to others today. [2031-1, Male 31, 10/28/39]

As to the abilities of the entity in the present, - these depend upon the ideal and purpose of the entity, and the willingness to submerge self, the willingness to consider self in body and in mind - as to care for, to be physically, mentally, spiritually a channel of blessings to, others. [3179-1, Female 53, 8/26/43]

Keep the correct mental attitude; be not only good but good FOR definite, special purposes. For, each soul has its own duty to perform to others. Be a channel of blessing to someone. [3024-1, Female 56, 5/26/43]

…Think not that thine righteousness in the present or the past is deserving of other than that the body mentally AND physically should, MUST, continue to be a channel of blessings to others. [2843-1, Female adult, 8/7/31]

In giving an interpretation of the records here many are the abilities of the entity. These directed with and through an ideal, and self and selfishness eliminated through the desires and purposes to be used as a channel of blessings, will bring real peace and happiness to this particular entity.

For, the activities through the earth have brought helpful influences, even though - judged by man’s point of view, or the yearstick or measurement in materiality - much despair has been apparent. Yet whenever the ideals have been kept we find that these have brought periods of helpful, hopeful influences. [3212-1, Female 46, 9/14/43]

Is that an ideal, is that what ye would practice in thy daily administrations to

others? Not merely in thy conversation, nor merely in the sick room, but in the ballroom as well. In those periods when ye would enjoy a vacation with thy friend, do ye speak of the love of the Christ? Do this oft, ye will be a much greater channel of blessings to thy fellow man. Ye also will find in thine own heart, in thine own conscience, harmony, peace, not as the world knows peace, but only as comes from just being kind, just being patient, just being longsuffering with thy fellow man. BE NOT impelled, but by thy life, thy activity, thy word of mouth, be a channel of blessing in His name to SOMEONE; and ye will find the glories of every nature coming into thy keeping - as OPPORTUNITIES for showing the love He hath shown thee. [1494-1, Female 21, 12/8/37]

Keep a Constructive Attitude

Keep the mental attitude towards CONSTRUCTIVE thinking; that is, the hopes,

the faith, the desires to be used as a channel of blessings to others. Keep these first and foremost in the mind, in the purpose, in the desire; and we will find that these conditions will be eliminated, - and the activities, the environs about the body will show a great deal more of peace and harmony. [2106-1, Male 46, 2/17/40]

The living within self and its own imaginations, if kept in a constructive manner

in which with the studies of the young there may be a lesson, will bring not only material gains but a satisfaction, a contentment, a peace that will bring greater blessings not only to self but to others. For, know that in giving, in being a channel of blessings to others, ye bring the greater joy to thy own self. [2530-1, Female 38, 7/7/41]

It is then in the mind of man, - and it behooves each entity to know in Whom it

has believed, as well as in what it believes; and that in the applying of self there is that desire, that purpose that the activities may be in keeping with that in which self may be a channel through which blessings may flow to others; as well as a greater comprehension of the purposes of the Creative Force, its relationship as to the individual and with that as He has given, “As ye do it unto the least of thy brethren ye do it unto thy Maker.”

…FILL thine mind, thine heart, with those things that make for the attitude, “I am

the Lord’s and He will work in me and through me, guiding my hands and my feet, and my walks in the paths of life, that I may be a channel of blessing to those I contact. And may each that I meet see in mine eye and mine countenance that I walk and talk with JESUS, often!” So may the life be filled with those things in the present. [410-2, Female 42, 4/18/34]

And keep this same attitude that the body has held. Know, deep within self, that

no healing comes to any save from the divine within. Hence hold the attitude of making self useful FOR something; not as a gratifying of self’s desires only, but as a channel to be of blessings, of help to all needing a knowledge of God. [2564-1, Male 39, 5/11/41]

Do these things, then, - keeping the mental attitude correct, of course, in that way

of the body’s being willing, and being a help and a channel of blessings to others. [2885-1, Female 44, 1/26/43]

Choose Thou

Choose thou, ever, then, to be a channel of blessings to someone. For to know love ye must yourself be lovely. To know truth, ye must indeed thyself seek after, hold fast to, BE, truth thyself. For what a man holdeth in his heart, that he becometh. [2021-1, Male 23, 10/7/39]

And as the choice is made, know WHO and what is the author of thy hopes; and

know they must be founded in spiritual things. Not longfacedness, nor that in which one sets self up as a goody-goody individual for the effect or for the fear of this or that, or because of what people will say. But KNOW that the Lord is ONE, and that thy manifestation in the material plane is to be a channel of blessings to others, if ye would attain to the consciousness of peace or harmony within thy inner self in thy associations and dealings with thy fellow man! [1575-1, Male 32, 4/21/38]

In interpreting the records here, we find that, if the entity will apply its own will, the abilities to become a channel of blessings to many are made manifest. Here we have an unusual entity, that has the ability, as would be termed in common parlance (as does each individual within its own self) to “make good”, if it will. [5049-1, Female 23, 5/1/44]

The entity is such an extremist in a manner; and with the abilities to make for

those experiences in which this sojourn may be a GLORIOUS one, - either materially or socially, or in those efforts to become a channel through which a great many blessings may come to many.

The choice as to which course is to be taken must rest with this body. It will NOT

do both, - be a social success and attain material things in a great measure, and be a spiritual channel for creative forces or God’s purpose to manifest through the experience….

Then study, read carefully the messages sent to Titus and Philemon by Paul; and

ye will learn - if ye will meditate upon same - much that has escaped thy understanding. For in such ye may find joy and happiness, - not longfacedness but JOY, - in knowing that thy life, thyself is spent in being a channel through which blessings may come to those ye meet day by day. [1754-1, Female 20, 11/25/38]

As has been seen through the experiences, by first finding self, self’s relations to the Creative Forces in life, that is as being a blessing to others; for we ARE as ambassadors here for Him. Be FAITHFUL, be true, to thine self - and it CANNOT be thou wilt be false to any. No matter what others may say, keep the face to the light - and the shadows will fall behind. [2135-1, Female 48, 10/8/31]

To be sure, there are in self, in associations, in affiliations that will arise, some problems. They are for self’s own development to be met.

Then, the decision would be, are they to be met in an environ that to self offers an

opportunity, a channel that may be helpful in meeting those very problems in self’s development, as well as aiding, in assisting others to find themselves, to fill their purposes, to acquire real desires, aims, that are constructive in their material, physical, mental and spiritual lives.

No matter how valid, how well, how good a condition may be, there must be on

the part of self the desire and the WILL to fill, to find, to do that which WILL enable self to be aroused to that ability of being a channel of blessing to someone. [2733-2, Female 34, 1/13/33]

These conditions in material affairs become very necessary, and at times become

appalling to one’s own consciousness; yet not if there is felt that self may be a channel of blessing to some one.

Hence ever the greater incentive or experience of a soul is to find that ability, that

place, wherein that soul may be the crutch, the cane, the incentive, for another soul to seek its Maker’s face. [274-4, Male 35, 6/29/33]

Keep those tenets, those truths, close to thy consciousness, in thy dealing with and

in thy problems with those influences about you, as well as those ye would influence. And let your light so shine among others that ye may be a channel of blessings to others.

For truth indeed sets one free, in that truth is freeing self of that which is the thought of self and letting every move, every activity be not for the creating of EASE alone but unto the glory of Him; unto the glory of that influence and force that brought, and BRINGS everything into manifestation, into being, from out of the nowhere - the manifestation into which it goes as it cycles in its growth into materiality, and its dissolution into that from which it came.

So in the present there may be given, yea there is the part and parcel of that in the

experience of the entity, the tendency to find fault in or with that which is not pleasing to self’s own comfort and ease.

Beware that such does not become a stumbling block to thee in thy abilities, in

that which is asked of thee in thy experience through this sojourn. For he that hath much, of him is much required. (continued on the next page)

Keep that as not only a covenant but as that which is an opportunity for thee to each day be a channel of blessing, of hope, to someone. And this is accomplished in just being kind to others without thought of self’s material reward. [1580-1, Female 47, 4/25/38]

One that finds in self often that the little rift, the unkind word grows and is

magnified and taken as an individual insult, will become as a separating thing from those with whom there is not only duty, not only obligations because of associations and relations. But do not let ANGER be thy DESTRUCTIVE principle! Be mad, yes - but sin not!

Also from Saturn we find the inclinations for seeking new fields; whether these be for material experiences, a mental emotion, or the seeking for things because they are new or strange. These become a part of the experience.

Then, temper, TEMPER all of these with that thou would set as thy ideal; and ye will find these may be turned from many of the hardships that have been thine - even in the present - to those experiences where life and its joys and sorrows becomes a REAL EXPERIENCE, yes - worthy of making the most of same under EVERY circumstance!

Look upon it as thy opportunity to be a channel of blessings to someone, not for thy glory but for the glory of Him who gives thee life - in whom ye live and move and have thy being.

For HE will take thee up when others desert thee. He will comfort and cheer thee when life and its surroundings appear the darkest. Look then to Him. For He is thy rock, He is thy haven of rest; and ye shall find that peace as He has given. Not as the world knoweth peace but as they alone who walk and talk oft with their God. [1551-2, Female 37, 3/15/38]

Hence we will find in the experience in the present those tendencies for the

neglecting of the spiritual life; yet holding fast to the individual tenets that have appeared and do appear from those experiences. But know that thy God, thy Savior, has promised to meet thee within thine OWN temple. Then turn within, if ye would know Him; for He is the rock of thy salvation; in Him can that trust be - not of self but through self’s being a channel of blessing to thy fellow man. For as ye mete to the least of thy brethren, as ye mete to the least of those about thee, so doth thou in thine heart treat or act or THINK about thy God! For as He gave, “As ye do it unto the least of these, ye do it unto me.” [1233-1, Male 22, 7/31/36]

This done, - direct thy activities and thy life in bringing these to pass, -

WHATEVER may be the disturbances, the disappointments, or the faults even in others. Let them NOT deter thee from thy purpose to be a channel through which blessings and knowledge and understanding may come to others. [1709-3, Female 20, 11/11/39]

Study to Show Self Approved

(Q) Can you give me any assistance in finding my way towards being a channel

of helpfulness, of blessings, and of hope to others? (A) This necessarily must come as an answer of the divine within self; hence

preconcludes the entity’s consciousness of its relationship to the Creator.

For, as He who is the way, the truth and the light, came into the world to teach men, to live in such a manner as to convince men that they as individuals are indeed the sons of God and that they should live like such, - thus it behooves EVERYONE that seeks to be a channel of blessing, of hope to others, to first study and know what His life and His precepts are. They are not past finding out. For He has revealed and does reveal Himself to those who seek to know His biddings.

These are not mere words, then, wherein He says: “Behold I stand at the door and knock; if ye will open I will enter in.”

Thus ye seek to know what He would have thee do, knowing - as He hath given - that in the manner, in the way ye treat thy fellow man, ye are treating thy Lord, thy God.

Thus it may be given: Study to show thyself approved unto that thou hast learned,

thou mayest learn of Him; rightly emphasizing all phases of thy relationships to thy God, to thy fellow man, and keeping self unspotted from condemnation of self or of others. [412-15, Male 41, 9/24/32]

Then, study to show thyself approved unto that thou hast set as thy ideal; not as

material things but as in spiritual things; that the life may be in this experience circumspect before thine own Conscience; showing a purpose, a cause, and activity in keeping with the desires to be a channel of blessings and hope to others.

As has been indicated by the experiences of the entity in that which is innate and

builded within the self, study to show thyself approved unto Him. For if the heart is singing with the beauties and joys that may come in the service to the fellow man, it bespeaks of those things that answer from within as to the life being made as a channel of blessing to the fellow man - and IN the path of glory for the companionship with Him.

Keep thyself unspotted from the world. Study to show thyself approved; not condemning self, not condemning others. For with what judgment ye mete it is measured to thee again. Seek not to justify thyself but rather to glorify God in the earth. Be a channel of blessings to others daily. For it is the little leaven that leaveneth the whole lump; not in the sounding of brass nor the tinkling of cymbals, but rather the still small voice within that convicts, that convinces, that leads the way to truth and light. For ye know that ye are studying to show self approved unto that consciousness,

that awareness, and are keeping self unspotted from that THOU knowest that might, would or could, cause thy brother to be offended. And ye come more and more, by such living, to the awareness of His presence abiding with thee! Not unto vainglorying, not unto self-consciousness; but rather that “Here am I, Lord, use me. Let ME be that channel of blessing to SOMEONE TODAY; that Thy love, Thy glory, Thy oneness, may be the greater manifested in not only my experience but those that I contact day by day.” [601-11, Female 50, 1/17/36]

… Not that the Maker, the Giver of all good and perfect gifts needs any service from anyone; yet that done to these, “the least of my little ones”, shall not go unrewarded. Thus was given, He that IS the light, the life, the way, the water of life, indeed comes through the activities OF an individual; not merely as taking thought, but that done, that accomplished, that desire to BE a CHANNEL of blessing to a little one, those weak - aid those; those in strength counsel with; those in want aid in assisting themselves; those that hunger for righteousness have them, fill them, indeed. The Promise

Destiny then is indeed in the hands of the INDIVIDUAL, for He hath given,

“Though ye be far, if ye call I will hear.” If ye be unto thy brethren, unto thy associates, unto those about thee as a channel of blessings, then He thy Father, thy God, will direct thee in the ways thou should go. [1183-1, Female 55, 6/1/36]

For TODAY is thy day, as He gave then to those about Him. If ye would know thy Father, then TODAY open thyself to be a channel of blessing to thy fellow man, that ye may know Him as thine OWN Father, thine OWN God! [1150-1, Male 39, 4/19/36]

…For, know that His promise is that He will meet thee within thine own temple, not in John Henry or in James Monroe, or in anyone else’s - but thine own!

And these are the things that ye need in thy life to make that pattern which ye

ARE, innately within thyself: To become a messenger for Him and a channel of blessings to others day by day. [2970-1, Female 48, 4/22/43]

For might and power are of the Lord. For no man, no entity, no purpose in the

experience of any soul is existent save by the grace of God that the earth might become His footstool, and the dwelling place of WHO? Those that are righteous, within their own selves? No; they that have humbled themselves and are faithful to the trust and purposes that have been put into their ways, into their opportunities for being that channel of blessings to someone day by day. …Know and seek the Lord while He may be found. Know that His promises are sure, and the world - with all therein - is His. And as ye seek to apply self in the manner as to be a channel of blessings, of help to others He - the Lord - will quicken the way so that conditions and things come to pass….

Make MUSIC - the piano, the organ, song - thy life’s work; as a concert artist, as a teacher, as a director in choir or the like. These will bring to the entity the opportunities for ever being a channel of blessings, and bring peace into the soul of the entity - which brings happiness and gladnesses under every circumstance. Then, “If it were not so, I would have told you.” These mean much. He has

given you the pattern - His pattern, and He has promised “I stand at the door of thy heart - open, I will come in and abide.” And that loneliness, that disappointment which has so oft been thine will disappear, and you will come again (continued on the next page)

to those visions of hope, of having a hope. It must first be created in thine own mind, and then there will come into thy experience again the hopes such that with that companionship there may be brought material, mental and spiritual fulfillment - if the spiritual purposes and ideals are kept in accord with “Lord, use me - my body, my mind, my whole being, as a channel of blessing to someone today.”

Not the whole world. As ye look into the face of some child, see the smile of

hope that ye have lost at times. Then bring to someone a smile again, where you have seen the tear start. The smile is as that look which the Master gave Peter, and he went out and wept - for he found himself.

So may ye, as ye bring - by thy look, into the faces of others - that conviction of

Advice to Groups

EC: Yes, we have the group here, as a whole, as individuals. In seeking to be a channel of blessing to others through such a group, well that individually all self-condemnation be laid aside, that self be wholly free in that source of power as would bring hope, faith, confidence, and HEALING to those who seek through this channel to be made more aware of His love in their lives. Not in arrogance by any one; rather seek through meditation, singleness of purpose, to be guided in that channel in which each may BE a channel of blessing to those who seek.

In this manner may ye know the way; for, as has been given, “I go - and the WAY

ye know.” The manner in which each may know they are IN attune, is the ability to feel that consciousness of the sincere desire WITHIN to BE a blessing, A channel, to someone. [Spiritual Healing Group of the Norfolk Study Group #1, 281-3, 12/3/31]

The preparations, as we find, are as has been outlined. First there must be the

willingness on the part of an individual to be used by those forces, that the body and its activities may be a channel of blessings to others, accepting Him, the Master, as the guide, and relying upon the promises that were made by Him - that are LIVING in the lives of those who accept Him as their counselor, their guide, their brother, in the love that the Father may show THROUGH the activities of self to the glory of the Son in the earth….

(Q) How should I approach individuals to interest them in study group work? (A) As the spirit gives utterance, in the contacts that are made day by day. So

approach those when the urge comes that they need, they may be interested in, that thou has found interest in; for all must be willing to be even thought light of at times for that which will, and does, bring contact with those that are to be called into service.

As to whom, then, would self - in its environs, its surroundings speak: INTEREST self in the various groups of varied natures that are already studying

or reading along lines that are similar, yet must of themselves show the differentiation or difference that may be in the approach; for here the leaders must be in accord with that as HE will guide, HE will call, for there will be added day by day such as WILL be interested IN that THOU hast found interest in, in Him. Knowing, then, that He will guide, He will lead the way.

When that impulse then arises, even to speak to the stranger, SPEAK - as the

spirit gives thee utterance; for, as has been given, “Take no thought of what ye shall say, for know that in the selfsame hour will it be GIVEN thee that thou would say.”

Know, then, the subject, the approach. Be ready ever to give an answer in self for the faith that is in thee, so that every question may be met. Not as of contention, not as of controversial, not as of impellation, but rather that of the seeking to be a channel of blessing to someone TODAY NOW - in His name, in the manner that the Father may be glorified in the earth, through the power of His name IN the earth.

EC: Yes, we have the group as gathered here, as a group, as individuals; with

their desires, their purposes, their aims; with their problems, and their seeking for that which may assist each AS individuals in being a channel of blessings….

In seeking, let it be not for self, rather that there may come in thine experience the greater channel of blessing for thy friend - yea, thine enemy; for the love of God constraineth thee that ye faint not by the way. Condemn not and ye will not be condemned. Love not and ye will not be love. But He that would show forth the love that that the Father hath bestowed upon thee will be LOVELY to every soul!

Then, in making the material application in the daily toils, in the daily activities

and the associations with those through whom there may come the worldly things necessary for meeting the daily obligations that arise in the experience of every individual, know that man - in whatever position he may occupy - may be turned by the influence of the spirit of truth into a channel to bring blessings, experiences, conditions worth while in the lives of those whom the Lord doth succor, and THROUGH such channels meet those needs necessary. …

Then, in making the connections, the associations, the activities that will meet these conditions in the experience, do so in the attitude, “I am thine, O Lord. Use me where, how, and in the manner as Thou seest I have need of, for a better presenting, a better representative and channel of blessings to others in Thy name.” [333-3, Male 50, 11/19/33]

As to how, the ways, the means, the understandings, the approaches: Do what thy hand finds to do today; not of self, for GOD gives the increase. We,

as individuals, are as channels of blessings; we as His disciples, as His brethren. “Who is my brother? Who is my sister? Who is my mother? They that do the will of my Father who is in heaven.”

What is the will of the Father? That all men should know Him, through the acts

of the ones that claim to be, or who are by their natural heritage, the brethren; by the deeds done in the body. Through FAITH are ye healed, through love are ye made free, in

that ye do unto thy neighbor, thy brother, as ye would have them do unto you. For, the whole law, the whole gospel that has been proclaimed from the beginning, (continued) is “Love the Lord thy God with all thine heart,” and, as the Master added, “thy neighbor as thyself.” THIS is the will of the Father. This is that He would have ye do. This is that as is proclaimed through those that are worthy of being in access to those informations or thrones of teaching - and none else but His. (Q) Are we handling our work in the correct manner? Please give any specific

suggestions that would clarify our understanding and help us at this time. (A) Wait ye upon one another. Work ye as a unit. Let ALL be done in order.

Wait ye oft on the Lord before speaking a word that would give an improper relationship of that THOU would present. In this manner may the work be expedited, may it be in unison. Depend not ONE upon another; rather depend upon Him, working together each in their respective sphere. To all are given a portion, a part, in this work. Let each look not upon that that would exalt themselves in any manner; rather that the feeling, the thought, may be better expressed, that those who seek may gain the closer vision of the Master’s face, may have in their hearts, their souls, that peace that comes only from being close to Him; for when He speaks, only peace may abound. Others may make afraid. Others may bring that force that would sound far, yet HE - the PRINCE of Peace - brings cheer, gladness, to the hearts and souls of those who seek to be a channel of blessing THROUGH HIM! Then, as ye are gathered here, let that mind [be in you] NOT of elementals, but of spiritual forces as may come THROUGH thine efforts if they are made in accord with His will. Let thy prayer be continually:

NOT MY WILL BUT THINE, O LORD, BE DONE IN AND THROUGH ME.

LET ME EVER BE A CHANNEL OF BLESSINGS, TODAY, NOW, TO THOSE THAT I CONTACT, IN EVERY WAY. LET MY GOING IN, MINE COMING OUT BE IN ACCORD WITH THAT THOU WOULD HAVE ME DO, AND AS THE CALL COMES, “HERE AM I, SEND ME, USE ME!”…

(Q) How may we have the mind of Christ? (A) As we open our hearts, our minds, our souls, that we may be a channel of

blessings to others, so we have the mind of the Christ, who took upon Himself the burden of the world. So may we, in our OWN little sphere, take upon ourselves the burdens of the world. The JOY, the peace, the happiness, that may be ours is in DOING for the OTHER fellow. For, gaining an understanding of the laws as pertain to right living in all its phases makes the mind in attune with CREATIVE Forces, which ARE of HIS consciousness. (Q) As a group are we doing anything that we should not do, or leaving undone anything that we should be doing in seeking understanding that we may be used in Thy service?

(A) This is a question that each shall answer within their individual lives. Who has been made a judge? Who showeth mercy, patience and understanding? Pray that each may have that light as is necessary for them, as an individual, as an integral part of the whole group, that would give life, light and understanding to others; for he that would be patient must show patience with those even that have a DIFFERENT understanding or concept of life. He that would teach, he that would minister, he that would heal - all likewise must be able to demonstrate in themselves that they would GIVE another; for, as was given, “As I am in the Father and ye in me, so shall ye know the way, for so IS my Father magnified in the world.” Art thou a channel of blessing to SOMEONE today? Then that will answer in thine own behalf, that as will give that understanding that enables individuals, the group, to give to others that light, that awakening, that must be FOUND in Him. As was given of Him, that the AWAKENING may be done by the words and the acts of individuals; the increase, the UNDERSTANDING, is God’s work! Expect NOT that to be THINE work, but bringing the OPPORTUNITIES, the awakening, the light, the knowledge - and GOD gives the increase; for those that are called, those did He predestine. Following those suggestions that have been made, you each should present

yourselves as channels of blessings to others; in that others may receive a better concept of the necessity of presenting their bodies as a living sacrifice, as a living example. Each should understand that sacrifice does not necessarily mean a giving up; rather a glorifying of the body for a definite purpose, for an intermediary, for an ideal, for a love. Along this line should the idea be, rather than that there should be a refraining from this or that. The choice must be made as to the purposefulness for which the activity is to be; and in keeping with what has been presented, that the bodies ARE the temples of the living God. So, the activity should be such that the self, the ego, the I AM would present same to the God, the Father, the Universal Influence, the Creative Energy, the I AM THAT I AM, in such measures and manners as to be a glorifying of that the body, the entity, the soul would present as its portion of the whole.

Thus may you each of this group, in presenting your experiences through the

application of that which has been given, make for those ways, means and manners in which others, seeing, knowing, hearing, may take the initiative necessary for the awakening of THEIR own purposefulness in any given experience; that may make for the turning of hate to love, the turning from strife to a purposefulness towards peacefulness that may bring to all mankind - at THIS time - that necessary in the influence of all.

For thoughts as they run have their activity in the experiences of all, and thus

create the environ, the atmosphere of thought upon which those who are active in their various spheres of experience and of expression must draw for that which will be a portion of the motivative influence in their experience.

Then, as ye approach this glorified Savior, this glorified Christ, GLORY in thine OWN experience that ye as individuals are BEING a channel of blessing to others; that ye are serving in such a manner that the service is no longer as a servitude but rather as that which brings JOY in the activity, a longing for the association, the opportunity, the manner in which self may be in some measure or some manner a channel of blessing.

Does the Glory then as in Him shine out unto others? Does it become in thine own experience only a cross in the flesh? Is it not rather that same experience which He had in entering into His Glory? that is, the completion of those activities in the material world when His Glory was shown? And He asked that they - that all those who would make of their lives, of their experience, a channel of blessing to the fellow man - might know His Glory; that they might know their OWN glory; that there might come that glory in the experiences of those who had consecrated, dedicated their lives and so LIVED them as to become living examples known among men for their good work in being a channel. Think it not strange, then, that ye should look for that glory. For has it not been given that ye have been chosen, even as ye have chosen Him? Thinkest thou that His prayer will not be answered IN thee, and in thine experience?

As for that manner of seeking a selective group or individual members of the Association in various spheres, various walks of activity, do not choose; let THEM choose! Invite each individual who is, who has been a member of the Association to become a part of such a group as would prepare themselves to be channels of blessings for others in their finding THEIR relationship to their Creator, their fellow man, in their respective spheres. (Q) Is there any further advice or counsel for the group? (A) As has been indicated, let the group, as a group and as individuals, strive to be

Determine the aims and purposes. The purpose must be other than the glorifying

of an individual’s abilities, an individual’s gifts, an individual’s wishes or desires - but rather that individuals may become, through that cooperation of others, a greater channel for BLESSINGS, and the BLESSINGS coming from GOD!

On the part of that channel through whom such information may come, there must be the unselfish desire to be of aid to a fellow man. Not as for self-exaltation because of being a channel. Not for self-glorification that such a channel may be well-spoken of. But rather as one desirous of being a channel through which the highest spiritual forces may manifest in bringing to the material consciousness of the seeker those things that may be beneficial in a spiritual and material sense to the seeker. For not by might nor in power, but in the still small voice that speaks within, ye may know as He hath given so oft - “Peace - it is I! Be not afraid, it is I,” thy Savior, thy Christ; yea, THYSELF meeting that BABE in thine own inner self that may grow even as He to be a channel of blessings to others! Make the Home a Channel for Blessings

Make the home, the home life, the mother life, that as the IDEAL life for each individual who has been called to serve in that capacity. Let each life in such a capacity know that the Father chose such a channel for the presenting of HIS Son, HIS life in a MANIFESTED manner before the HUMAN family. Through such channels have these forces ever CHOSEN to MANIFEST - and, as the channel is attuned to those forces in HIS way, then let HIM - GOD - have HIS way with THY life. Be that channel of BLESSINGS each day, each hour, and as these ARE shown, more and more may the entity manifest those conditions that present themselves as personalities in the LIFE that is seen or experienced at THIS period. Cultivate those abilities for making the beautiful tales of those influences or things that apparently are the commonplace. For it is the commonplace that wields the greater influence in the lives of individuals in any home, in ANY community. These may be added to in such ways and manners as to later, in thy experience, become channels through which great blessings may come to others. [2037-1, Female 32, 11/6/39]

And as we find, save in the home, the entity may find in such activity the greater channel for expressions of that being sought. For indeed the entity seeks to be a channel through which the blessings of the loving heavenly Father, or the divine love, may be manifested….

For He has given, “Take my yoke upon thee and learn of me, for my yoke is easy, my burden is light,” to those that have found that grace in making themselves a channel of blessings to SOMEONE today. [1456-1, Female 29, 10/8/37]

The HOME is the real adventure, the real purpose of the entity’s expression in the

earth. For as seen, in Atlantis the desire for same brought disturbance; in Egypt it brought the better understanding; in the time when the Master taught thee, there was the perfect home with His presence abiding there AFTER the awakening; in the experience in the present land, it brought a helpful force.

Hence in the present, build thine own home upon the sure foundation. Thou hast

met him, - thou lovest him. He has disappointed thee, but bring that into thy heart and mind that - with the Christ-life and purpose - ye will bring into material experience a CHANNEL to be the blessings of the many.

So in the application of self in the present Study first to show thyself in body, in mind, in purpose as one seeking to be a channel of blessings to others, keeping self unspotted from the world, condemning none, and as ye do this ye may become that channel through which help, understanding yea, many, many individuals may come to know the Lord. Remember as ye apply self, read, study how Hannah dedicated herself in body, in mind and gave, not by word, but by activity as well, her son to the glory of God….

(Q) Please advise how I may go about preparing for the sons who will become emissaries?

(A) Just as has been given. As outlined, first there must be the choice of thy associate, thy companion, thy husband. These, as have been outlined, must be in accord, or men of God, keeping God’s purposes, God’s ideals which will manifest in the Christ-Jesus as their ideal that they may practice it in their daily life. For, be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers. Ye did well in thy refusal of him, who in physical body appealed to thee, as thou didst to him, but let thy choice be by Father-God showing thou the way.

“Let my mind and my body and my heart be not deceived by those things of the

earth, but in spirit, in truth, may I indeed seek to be Thy handmaid, a channel of blessings for my fellow man.”

He fails not to answer those. And already ye have known and may know well

him who may be the father of thy sons. Ye have met him, ye have thought well, ye have dismissed, but he will return again. [1968-10, Female 33, 6/19/44]

“Let my life be so filled with the desire to be a channel of blessings to others that

it may show forth the Lord of Lords, the King of Kings.”…

(Q) He is a Catholic and I am a Protestant. Should I become a Catholic as his family require if we are to get married, or is there another solution to this problem?

(A) Why should not self become a Catholic? Is there that which is abhorrent to self in the tenets, the opportunities, the privileges of Catholicism?

There may be rules or regulations that have in thine own mental self been abused

- or misconstrued, - but if thy heart and purpose is right, then is this to keep each of you in that way in which each is serving the other and not the family. Remember, ye are marrying one man, NOT a family, NOT a church! Ye are to live in thy associations one with another the purposes, the desires to fill that place thy God, thy Savior would have thee fill!

What has been thy meditation? That ye may be a channel of blessings!

Thus the entity is awakening to those greater opportunities, greater abilities to be

And - those who are responsible for this entity - know that God is not mocked, but has given each soul that has manifested the opportunities not only for self but those souls entrusted to self’s keeping, that ye may become channels of blessings to others. [2291-1, Male 34, 6/28/40]

(Q) Is there any reason I should not conceive a child now? What can I do to help

me in this? (A) No. This, as we find, needs only that care, that attention which was given as a

part of thy development through that Palestine period; that is: a body strong in the activity of accomplishments in physical strength, a mind attuned to Creative Forces, and an attitude of:

“FATHER-GOD! USE ME AS A CHANNEL OF BLESSINGS TO OTHERS;

TEACHING ME, IN BODY, IN MIND, THE MANNER OR WAY TO PROTECT SUCH AS WOULD BE GIVEN ME, THAT THEY MAY BECOME GREATER BLESSINGS IN GLORIFYING THEE.” [2425-1, Female 21, 1/3/41]

(Q) What mental attitudes should I adopt or pursue? (A) That of ever being a channel of helpfulness to others. Remember, it is with

what measure ye mete to others that it must be measured to you again. This applies spiritually, mentally, materially. [3009-1, Male 63, 5/18/43]

(Q) Give me any other advice which would aid me at this time. (A) Keep the mental attitude in that of a constructive nature. Find not fault with

others; for these but magnify thine OWN shortcomings as in the eyes and minds of others. Let thy watchword rather be, that “As the Lord hath need of me, may I in humbleness of mind be used as a channel of blessings to others. May that I think, do, be in accord with that I would have thought of and done to me by others.”

choices made by the mental self; to encourage the pleasant; not gratifying necessarily the selfish motives, but to keep the constructive or pleasant attitudes first and foremost; calling for those decisions to be used, and self to be used, as a channel of blessings to others - which has much to do with the general physical welfare of the body.

Do not rely wholly upon any one form, but don’t keep trying every day a new thing - until each has had its opportunity for expression; and its expression will be according to how much strength or power thyself gives to it, over and through thine own system. [1158-29, Female 50, 1/15/41]

(Q) What channel can I work through best? (A) As may be easily implied from that given, begin where thou art; using that

thou hast in hand. And, as the applications of self in such relations bear fruit, so may the activities be expanded in the lives and experiences of those whom the entity contacts in any and all walks of life; aiding in disseminating, then, that THOU hast found in THINE experience to be an aid to making of self a channel of blessing to some one. (Q) What changes must be made in my personal life? (A) As a soul or entity seeks to become a channel of blessing to its fellow man,

there are the guiding steps step by step; and doing that which is known in self to be the correct, the right relationships in any given determination fits the body (continued)

from day to day for that development. For, truth is a growing thing, as the knowledge of the spiritual laws is in the mental activities of a body. Day by day is there shown the way. He that faints not finds the way. Hence the changes would be only the greater determination in self to be used by the influences of the Infinite to become a channel of blessing to his fellow man. (Q) What talents should this body develop for more complete expression? (A) In common parlance, the abilities to speak that which is impelled by the

As ye in thy service then merit the use, the lending of these to thy activities, ye have thy assurance of material security. Rather grow more and more in that attitude of “Lord, here am I - use me as thou seest fit. Thou knowest the cares, Thou knowest the things that make afraid. Cleanse me, that I may be the greater channel of blessings to others in this experience. Supply Thou the hand; as Thou didst feed the thousands, so keep me, O God, in the right ways!”

(A) …As to the character, the nature, the ideals, - these can be set before thee; but THOU must choose of thine OWN volition! For it is as of old, “There is today set before thee good and evil, life and death - choose thou.” As to say that you should walk with this individual or with that individual, that you should accept this policy or that policy, must be the choice within self and we would not suggest from here, - save as to those whom we have referred to, with whom the entity should counsel. For those policies, or the policies of those individuals, are in keeping with that which is the purpose for the entrance of individuals into material activity, - that they may become the greater channels of blessings to mankind! For the body is indeed the temple of the living God and He hath promised to meet thee there. Open thy consciousness and let it ever be as, not merely in words but in purposes, of hopes, of desires:

In that attitude and in those manners may the entity fully enter into the more

perfect understanding, not seeking something from without but knowing as the body, the mind, the soul-consciousness is attuned by meditation, by prayer to the infinite, the voice, the feeling, the hope may all come to thee.

Condemn not thyself for any fault that may have been in others, or for thy having

made choices that have apparently brought outer appearances of activities in others not good. Did the Master condemn self for the ways among men? rather, “Of myself I can do nothing, only as the spirit of truth and of the Father may work in and through me, may I become one with His purposes with me.”

And He, my friend, is the pattern. He is thy brother, He is thy Lord. In Him ye
