Catholic Memorial is truly blessed to have so many friends who make CM a prior-ity in their charitable giving. We value the trust you share with us. In addition to underwriting meaningful programs on campus, the thoughtfulness encourages faculty, staff and administrators to stretch our efforts beyond the norm. Together, we are assuring that the young men in our care will have a memorable and prosper-ous experience at CM.

As with all private schools today, Catholic Memorial cannot maintain its level of excellence on tuition alone. This is where the Annual Fund comes in. The 2010 fund year (July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010) was truly remarkable given the uncertain economic challenges facing us all. Not only was it the second best fundraising year on record, we had significant gains in participation. Overall participation increased 10% while alumni who gave increased 26% to 875. It’s this level of sustained do-nors that will be vital to the success of the Catholic Memorial Annual Fund.

This past year Catholic Memorial experienced a significant increase in contributions to our endowment with just over $600,000 raised to support need based scholar-ships. The establishment of the Tom & Pauline Robinson scholarship along with two new “endowments in progress” will allow more talented young men the oppor-tunity to attend Catholic Memorial.

It is also worth noting the hundreds of volunteers who committ their time and talent to helping support the Catholic Memorial Advancement Office. Whether working on their class reunion committee or the Parent’s Council Fashion Show, the volunteers have worked tirelessly toward our shared goal and mission of Catho-lic Memorial School.

Once again CM has chosen to scale down our printed Annual Report and instead moved our full report online at the school’s web site, CatholicMemorial.org.

The Young Alumni President’s Council Giving Society allows young alumni, who’ve graduated within the past 15 years, to join the school’s prestigious President’s Society. Members receive an annual invitation to the President’s Society dinner, attended by leadership donors, Board of Directors and Trust-ees and are invited to additional events throughout the year.

Faculty and Staff



Faculty and Staff Giving

The CM faculty, supported by admin-istrators and staff, devote their time and energy to the intellectual, social, psychological and spiritual develop-ment of the students they serve. As the core members of the CM learning community, the faculty is committed to the maintenance of a stimulating and enriching educational environment. Over the past four years, the faculty, administrators, and staff have expressed – through financial support – an addi-tional level of commitment in the form of financial aid to families in need.

In 2002, a Faculty/Staff Fund was estab-lished whereby employees may choose to designate their gift be applied to this fund which provides tuition assistance to students in need. For the academic year 2009-2010, the fund raised $6,200 and was dispersed among five families. We congratulate the faculty and staff for supporting CM and directing their gifts to their own financial aid fund. The response from these dedicated individu-als to the Faculty-Staff giving program, both in participation and monetary support, is a testament to the commit-ment the CM community makes to the mission of Blessed Edmund Rice. Thank you to Hal Carey ’95 and Tom Meagher who chaired the fund drive this year and helped make 2010 a very successful year.

Financial Aid & Endowed Scholarships

As the cost of educating a student at Catholic Memorial continues to grow, so must the ability to provide finanicial assistance to those worthy students for whom tuition costs are prohibi-tive. Incomes from gifts to endowed scholarships, and proceeds from funds earmarked for finanicial assistance each year, provide a steady stream of financial aid that is distributed to qualified stu-dents based on the criteria established by the scholarships’ founders.

“Couture Moments” The 2010 Fashion Show

Parents, faculty, students and friends came together on March 21, 2010 at Moseley’s on the Charles for a day of fashion - all for the benefit of Catholic Memorial. Mrs. Nancy Jacob P’14 and her committee put together a wonderful day that included raffle baskets, a silent auction and a weekend getaway to New York to see the Broadway production of Mary Poppins. Our fashion models included students, parents and faculty. As the only fundraising event sponsored by the CM Parent’s Council the 2010 Fashion Show was a tremendous success raising over $17,000 for scholarships.

The 24th Annual Catholic Memorial Golf Tournament

Alumni, Parents, and Friends of CM are invited to play in the annual Catholic Memorial Golf Tournament. The tour-nament, which started in 1986, raises funds to help students meet the cost of tuition.

The 2010 Tournament, held Septem-ber 28th at the Walpole Country Club in Walpole, raised over $46,000 from golfers; individuals and local businesses who serve as sponsors and benefactors; individuals and businesses who donated items for our auction; raffle proceeds and donations.
