Catherine Gowlett Structural Myopractitioner Catherine treats musculoskeletal pain using a non-invasive, soft-tissue technique called Trigger point release, deep tissue massage and stretching. She draws upon a conventional medical background for analysis and pain management advice to patients. There are many misconceptions in the public understanding as to what type of pain is muscular as opposed to bony or skeletal. The following can be treated Tension headache, some cluster headaches/migraines Neck pain including whiplash Wrist, elbow and arm pain (sometimes as a complication of as carpal tunnel syndrome or tennis elbow) Shoulder pain (frozen shoulder, rotator cuff injuries) Upper and lower back pain (including sciatica: more often caused by inflammation of the piriformis muscle affecting the sciatic nerve than disc herniation) Hip pain (sometimes misdiagnosed as bursitis) Repetitive strain and tendonitis of the arms and legs Tmj (jaw) pain Catherine is a St Bartholomew’s (London) – trained, State Registered Nurse (1982) She acquired her variety of skills via massage and contact with other disciplines. She has more than 15 years’ experience of treating patients in the rural farming communities of Shropshire, working at a doctors’ surgery, a community centre and privately.
