Liturgical Directives From Cardinal Sean O’Malley
For Flu Prevention This year’s influenza virus is the
most widespread outbreak since public health au-
thorities began keeping track more than a dozen
years ago. To help protect the health of all, the Car-
dinal directs the following for the celebration of the
Sacred Liturgy and for flu prevention: The distribu-
tion of the Precious Blood is suspended. The ex-
change of the Sign of Peace should be offered with-
out any physical contact. Please remember that
those who are ill or suspect that they may be ill with
a contagious illness are not bound by the Sunday
Mass obligation. If you have any questions, please
feel free to call the Parish Office.
FROM THE RECTOR…. This is Commitment
Weekend when we are given the opportunity to sup-
port the Catholic Appeal which provides funding
for Cardinal Seán to carry out the administrative
and pastoral duties of the Archdiocese. Admittedly,
it can be awkward to fill out these forms during the
Mass, but when we see it in light of the Lenten call
to almsgiving and the Gospel invitation to bring our
gifts to the altar, the spiritual purpose adds depth to
the practical. I have made my commitment of
$350. I hope you will do what you are able. Please
remember that any amount received that exceeds
our goal will remain here in the parish. Thanks
again for your kind generosity. Fr. Kevin
THIS EASTER, Our parish collection will benefit
the Clergy Health and retirement Trust which cares
for the needs of our 590 priests. Our priest are al-
ways there for us; they shared Christ’s good news ,
perform good works, and build communities of
good faith . All are welcome to learn more and
make a gift online at clergytrust.org. And don’t for-
get to find and follow the Trust on Facebook by
searching “ @ClergyTrust.” Thank you in advance
for your prayers and support.

THE 50TH WALK FOR HUNGER is this May!
The Walk for Hunger is the oldest pledge walk in
the country and Project Bread’s largest annual fund-
raiser. It is a 20-mile walk that raises money for
hundreds of hunger-relief programs across Massa-
chusetts. The route starts at the Boston Common
and weaves through Boston, Brookline, Newton,
Watertown, and Cambridge and ends at the Com-
mon again. Money raised by Walkers funds hun-
dreds of anti-hunger programs across Massachu-
setts, providing food-insecure children and families
with nutritious food - – last year the Walk was able
to support 263 anti-hunger agencies across the
Commonwealth! If interested in joining the Walk for
Hunger, please visit the following link:
www.projectbread.org/walk – we would love to have
your support on Sunday, May 6th! For any questions, feel
free to call: (617) 723-5000.

A BLESSED EASTER SEASON
To you and your family. As we celebrate our Risen
Lord and the holiest of all feast days in our faith, we
remember in gratitude for all who joined us for our
Triduum at the Cathedral. Thank You to all who
served on the many committees and workers who
blessed us with their prayers, planning, wisdom,
time and helping hands. We had a prayer filled cele-
bration. I have a never ending list (and hopefully, I
will remember everyone). The Cardinal, fellow
priests, deacons, altar servers, musicians, readers,
decorators, Boston Catholic TV camera persons,
actors and those who participated, gave witness in
our outdoor stations of the Cross our catechists to
those who were welcomed into the Catholic Church
Community… you who join us in prayer during this
Easter Season, we pray for the grace to recognize
and see the Risen Christ in our midst, and in all of
creation. I am prayerfully grateful.

Meet Father DeVeer−A steadfast ministry built on respect for allFather Richard “Dick” DeVeer grew up in loving family that instilled the foundational values of his ministry: respect and joy.
For more than ve decades, Father DeVeer embraced the priest’s role to carry Christ into people’s hearts. He galvanized teens to march with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Boston. As a re chaplain, he answered the call to serve at Ground Zero after 9/11. Recognizing the needs of the most vulnerable in Haiti, he and his parishioners created the St. Boniface Haiti Foundation to provide critical healthcare to the “poorest of the poor.”
Today, Father DeVeer is very active and remains close to the families from his previous parishes. These pivotal moments and lasting friendships demonstrate how priests like Father DeVeer stand by us when we need them most.
