Christ Our Hope: Building a Vibrant Church
Isaiah 6:8: “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying: ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’” We apologize that some of our fundraising materials are still being delayed, even though we are five weeks into our fundraising drive for the Christ Our Hope: Building a Vibrant Church campaign. To our supporters who have already made a pledge, we offer a sincere thank you for your sacrifice. Success comes only with your willingness, and that of others, to identify the gift you can offer. Volunteers with the campaign are busy making outreach calls to their fellow parishioners. The purpose of the call is to discuss the campaign, answer your questions and graciously ask you to consider joining in support of the campaign. The volunteers will not be asking for a specific gift amount nor do they know what you have been invited to consider giving. This is an invitation not an expectation. With 60% of the funds coming back to St. Joseph Cathedral, we have an opportunity to address these projects: (1) Physical repair of the church building to include
window repair and repointing the mortar on the outside stone.
(2) Build a columbarium at New Mount Calvary Cemetery
for cremation burials. (3) Replace the floor in the Parish Hall. (4) Support for Joseph House Programs. If you receive a call, we ask that you take time to talk with the volunteer. They are doing God’s work to help build His earthly kingdom. So, again, please take their call; if they leave a message, call them back and please treat them with the respect they rightly deserve. Please don’t forget you can join Bishop Coyne on Monday, October 5 from 7-8pm or Wednesday, Oct 14 from 3-4pm for a virtual chat to learn more about the campaign and its importance. To register for the Zoom event, please visit:

LITURGY OF THE WORD October 3rd and 4th, 2020
The 27th Sunday of Ordinary Time Isaiah 5:1-7 The Lord seeks a harvest of justice. Psalm 80: “The vineyard of the Lord is the house of Israel.” Philippians 4:6-9 Dwell in thoughts of purity and justice
and you will know peace. Matthew 21: 33-43 “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” The selections from both Isaiah and Matthew feature vineyards in poor shape. In Isaiah’s case, the vineyard is prepared diligently, but ends up being overrun by wild grapes. In Matthew, Jesus tells a parable whose vineyard is commandeered by greedy tenants who abuse and kill the landowner’s representatives. Who then will produce good fruit for the kingdom? Paul encourages the Philippians to do so by continuing to do what they have learned from him. Let us learn from Scripture how we can produce good fruit.
