  • DECEMBER 13, 2020

Dear Parishioners, I am excited to report that our livestream equipment has arrived and is in the process of being installed! It will just be a little bit longer and we will be able to stream our Masses to all our homebound parishioners and to the community at large! I want to offer a special thanks to Peter McKiernan and his dad Brian for their help in designing the system and installing it. As we are chanting some parts of the Mass in Latin, I thought it would be helpful to have the texts. You will find them in the bulletin, the Latin that we are chanting and their English translations.

Christmas will soon be here and registration to attend Mass is now open. Please be sure to register as soon as possible. Also, please be aware that we are accepting registrations for households. So please register yourself and those who live in your home. Extended family will have to register for themselves. This is necessary for contact tracing, and also to try to accommodate as many people in our parish as possible. Because of our dis-tancing precautions, it is very likely we will have use overflow seating the Chapel and in the parish hall. We will stream the Masses into those two spaces, and then have someone bring Holy Communion so that those who are attending there may receive Communion. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but with the reality we are still living in with the pandemic, it is the best we can do. I pray you all have a blessed second week of Advent! Yours in the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Father Saiki

COVID TEST– if you are in need of a COVID-19 test and do not want to stand in line at 78th & State, I have the place for you. Every Tuesday at All Saints they do testing from 8am until 11:00am. It is quick, easy, and sanitary. And close. It is a nasal test and results are back with in 24-72 hours. Workers change gloves at least 3 times for each person.

Unified Government Medical Officers issued a new Health Order requiring the public to wear masks when in public, to slow and contain the spread of COVID-19 in Wyandotte County. The move comes in response to the continuing increase of COVID-19 cases in Wyan-dotte County.

So masks are required for Mass attend-ance.

  • PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we hum-bly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits, who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls Amen.

    THE ADVENT WREATH

Why is the Advent Wreath so special

to Christians? The circle of the wreath reminds Christians of God, His eternity and endless mercy, which has no beginning or end. The green of the wreath speaks of the hope that Christians have in God, the hope of newness, of renewal, of eternal life. The candles are used to symbolize the light of God coming into the world through the birth of His son, Jesus. There are 3 purple and one rose candle. (purple dyes were so rare and costly that they were associ-ated with royalty; this color was used by the Church to honor Jesus.) The purple candles in Ad-vent symbolize hope, peace and love. These candles are lit on the first, second and fourth Sun-days. The rose candle, symbolize joy and is lit on the third Sunday. Advent theme for the four Sundays God’s people The candle of Hope Old Testament Prophets The candle of Peace John the Baptist The candle of Love Mary, Mother of Jesus The candle of Joy (A pink candle) Wreath ceremony for the Home:

Leader: Dear Friends in Christ, on this

Third Sunday of Advent, we are invited to rejoice in the

Lord, for He is near. In anticipation of the joy of Christmas, the

rose candle now burns brightly with 2 other purple candles.

The rose candle is the light of Hope and Hope gives perse-

    verance into our lives.

As we light the third candle on the Advent wreath, may its flame bid us to be always ready for the

coming of the Lord. (the first & second candle should be lite

  • AVISOS PARROQUIALES
