Welcome to Oregon Coast Community College – Lincoln County’s community college – where you will find the education

and the support to achieve your goals. We provide “an ocean of opportunity” through education.

We offer opportunities to older students, high school students, students right out of high school, veterans, working students, parents, and life-long learners. We enroll students interested in transferring to universities such as Oregon State, as well as those seeking terminal two-year degrees, one-year certificates, retraining in new skills, ESOL and GEDs.

And, I am pleased to announce that the College is now officially recognized by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities as an Applicant for Candidacy. This is the critical first step of the three stages of the independent accreditation process: Applicant, Candidate, and Independently Accredited. Independence has long been the ultimate goal for Oregon Coast Community College, founded by Lincoln County citizens in 1987. This work wouldn’t be possible without the financial support of donors across the county, including Bill and Joanne Barton, Georgia Pacific, and the Upjohn Estate, to name just a few.

While we work to move steadily towards independent accreditation, OCCC students still benefit from our accreditation through Portland Community College, ensuring our students are just as able to transfer credits earned at Oregon

Coast Community College towards their eventual four-year degrees as their fellow community college students in Portland or elsewhere in Oregon.

Inside this publication, you’ll find our complete lineup of credit courses for this busy term, as well as a listing of all the fun, engaging and enriching non-credit Community Education and Small Business classes on offer this Spring. Remember, adults aged 65 or better are invited to audit any credit course OCCC offers, totally tuition free. All you pay is attention – plus fees and textbook costs, where applicable.

As president, I am joined by our outstanding faculty and staff in our efforts to make OCCC increasingly relevant to the needs of our communities. We

are committed to working to help you achieve your educational goals or to help your organization grow.

I encourage everyone to envision big things as you plan your future and work toward your personal success, whatever that might be. I look forward to working with you to build a better future for our students, community, and state.

Warm regards,

Small Business Classes

Business scholarships available Many business owners don’t realize they are eligible for 100% tuition assistance

for many SBDC programs. All over the county, thousands of residents – and many small business owners

– qualify as “low” or “moderate” income earners. Many don’t realize that many of their neighbors, as well as their own families, may fit these criteria, and would be

eligible for no-cost services from the

SBDC for some of its most popular classes and programs, thanks to a Community Development Block Grant made possible by support from Lincoln County, and the communities of Waldport, Lincoln City and Newport.

Are you eligible? Call 541-994-4166 to find out.
