    NorProCatalyst Carriers -- Typical Properties

    NorProCatalyst Carriers

    IMPORTANT NOTES

The products described in these tables represent only some o the extensive capabilities possessed by Saint-Gobain NorPro to make carrierswith widely varying physical and chemical properties. Please contact Saint-Gobain NorPro directly, or viawww.norpro.saint-gobain.com, i you

do not see your precise requirement listed. We can help you!

SIZE AND SHAPEMost materials are available in a variety of shapes, including spheres, UniSpheres (Saint-Gobain NorPros special mono-sized spheres),extrudates, pellets (cut extrudates), trilobes, rings and pentarings. Other shapes have been designed and manufactured for particularapplications. Some products are not available as spheres.

NOMENCLATUREAll products are coded in the form SA 6173 or SA 55112.

Thesecond letter describes the material:S A alumina or alumina-silicaS C silicon carbideS S silica or silica-aluminaS T titaniaS Z zirconia

Therst digit refers to the surface area: SA5*21 low surface area (100 m2/g)

Thesecond digit refers to the shape:SA 6173 pellets or extrudates

    SA 52112 spheres

SA 5397 spray dried materialsSA 5551 ringsSA 66147 pentaringsSA 6973 trilobes; quadrilobes

The last two or three digits are unique to the formulation:SA 6173SA 55112

Samples sent will always be described, not only by the abovecoding, where relevant, but also by a unique sample number, e.g.:2006781234. This number refers to the batch of material made andenables Saint-Gobain NorPro to trace the original formulation, who

made the material, the manufacturing conditions, and all the analyticalresults.

PROPERTIESTheSURFACE AREA of many products may vary fromthe typical values shown in the tables. The degree ofvariation possible depends upon the material. Surfacearea values may vary with the instrument used formeasurement. Details of Saint-Gobain NorPros

Standard Test Methods are available upon request.

PORE VOLUME values may vary with the instrumentused for measurement. Pore Volume values reportedin these tables are mercury (Hg) intrusion values. Insuitable circumstances nitrogen (N

    2) values may be

    measured and reported.

TheWATER ABSORPTION is the amount of waterpicked up in open pores during a soaking period, expressed as a percentage of the dry sample weight. This value is obtained using the carefully standardizedSaint-Gobain NorPro Standard Test Method. Bulk(Particle) Density, Apparent Porosity and ApparentSpecic Gravity details are available upon request.

PACKING DENSITY values are approximate and mayvary with particle size and shape.
