Research and Development

The Group

Founded in 1958 near Lyon, France, TECHNIBEL joined air-conditioning, heating andair treatment leader, the AER.FI group (based near Milan, Italy), in 1992.

The Engineering and Design depart-ments and the Test Laboratories inFrance and Italy work closely toge-ther to develop new products usingthe most advanced technologies thatfully meet market expectations.

Technibel has recently invested insophisticated new testing units, which allow computerised recordingand processing of product perfor-mance data in all operating condi-tions. This investment is helping toensure a high level of quality andfunctional suitability as soon as theproduct is launched.

Production facilitiesGroup products are manufactured in Italy,France, Japan and China.

The facilities in Gallarate (Italy) and Reyrieux(France) cover a total surface of 82,000sq.m. approximately 50,000 sq.m. of whichis roofed. To satisfy our customers andminimise delivery deadlines, production canbe transferred between the two sites tomaximise production capacity. Flexibility is agroup strength.

Ozone layer protectionAlmost 95% of all the products presentedin this catalogue from mobile air-conditioners to water chillers and heatpumps up to 17 kW use R 410 A coolingfluid.

QualityIn december 2005, Technibelobtained the replacement of thecertification according to thestandard EN ISO 9001 : 2000.

Meet the requirement of our finalcustomer and daily perform ourselves are two of our mainobjectives in the company.

Direct Expansion Range - EUROVENT NOMINAL CONDITIONSThe technical characteristics of the monosplit and multisplit models are given in accordance with

the following nominal conditions (except where otherwise indicated in the tables):

CE marking

The product ranges presented in this catalogue have the “CE”label. This indicates that they comply with:• the Electromagnetic Compatibility directive 89/336 CEE,

amended by 92/31/CEE and 93/68/CEE• the Low Voltage directive 73/23/CEE, amended by

93/68/CEE.• the Pressure Equipment directive no. 97/23/CE.• The directive on Energy Consumption of Air Conditioners for

Domestic Use no. 92/75/CEE-2002/31/CE

This directive concerns direct expansion devices with a cooling capacity under 12 kW; it takes effect from January2005.The directive is designed to provide a very clear classificationof devices according to their energy efficiency (from "A = economical device" to "G = uneconomical device"), withthe purpose of economizing the electricity consumed in the European Community, and generally to give the consumer more information (on noise levels, etc.).

For the Technibel units concerned:a) the sales documentation (recto-verso type) intended for

the end user will include all the information required by the directive

b) the corresponding indicator labels will be supplied for unitsexhibited in sales outlets open to end-user customers.

Certifications and standards

The CE marking, which was created as part of European legislation, permits the freemovement of manufactured products throughout the EEC, and constitutes a guarantee of product safety and installation.

Products in this catalogue currently meet two new European directives, according to generally accepted interpretations:

• Directive WEEE/DEEE (2002/96/EC) regulates domestic electrical waste recycling• Directive ROHS (2002/95/EC) regulates the removal of some harmful substances from electrical and electronic

components.

Below is a comparative scale

of sound pressures (according to figures provided by the department

of the Secretary of State for the Environment)

It goes without saying that air conditioning has to meet human requirements in matters of thermal comfort, health and acoustic comfort. All customers are looking for the quietest machine; the difficulty is how to compare the "noise levels"provided by the makers.

The noise level of a machine is defined by two measurements:

Noise level :

sound power and sound pressure

Sound power

an objective measure made in accordance with standards in forceunder nominal operating conditions. This is a characteristic of the machine. The comparison of the sound power for equivalent machines (similar in typeand power) is strongly recommendedbefore taking any decision.

As the number of decibels obtaineddoes not correspond to the noise experienced when the apparatus is installed in a living environment (flat, office, shop, etc.), each manufactureruse to calculate and to provide a soundpressure value.

Sound pressure

is calculated on the basis of soundpower according to the following formula: Lp = Lw + 10 x log [(Q/4 x π x d2) +(4/R)]. This is not a characteristic of the machine, but the result of a calculation. The calculation formula takes intoaccount the capacity of the elementssituated around the machine to reflectand absorb sound. Sound pressure is an estimated value. It does not therefore commit Technibel to any specific final result.

Furthermore, results will differ according to the distance between the apparatus and the point of measurement. Technibel indicatessound pressure at the following distances:- at 2 m for indoor units (Direct

Expansion range and Water range);many manufacturers give this measurement at 4 m, thus obtaining a lower sound pressure value

- at 4 m in unenclosed space for outdoor units

- at 10 m in unenclosed space for chilled water units.

Example of an indoor wall-mountedunit MCAF 74 C or R :- sound power at low speed (LS) =

39 dBA- sound pressure at low speed at 2 m =

ACCESSORIES TO BE ORDERED IMPERATIVELY

COOLING CSCV-LL

The CSCV-LL range of split air-conditioners is designed for ‘low-temperature’ air conditioning, with temperatures between 12 and 18°C, for premises such as wine cellars, florists’ storerooms, bin storage units, etc.

Maintaining a temperature of between 12 and 18°C helps to limit the growth of harmful bacteria, therefore ensuring better standards of hygiene.

The interior unit can be mounted vertically against a wall as standard, or ceiling mounted in order to keep maximum floorspace free.

• The very complete standard equipment enables safe, simple and quick installation. The phase sequence controller ensures the safety of your SCROLL compressor in the event of phase reversal.

• These compact water chillers can be easily integrated, both on a roof or on the ground ; needed space aroundthe units is reduced

• Hydraulic equipment : insulated buffer tank – water pump with control valves – expansion tank – safety valve –air vent, …)

• Quality components :Scroll compressor with sound insulation – Air heat exchanger : copper tubes with aluminium fins – Direct driveaxial fans - Stainless steel brazed plate heat exchanger protected against freezing and underflows - Switchbox

• Automatic switching of the compressor running order ensures that they age at exactly the same rate

• Low noise thanks to the use of compressors fitted with sound-proofing and anti-vibration pads and fans withtwo-speed rotation

• Maintenance made easy :

- All access and connections are carried out at the front

- All panels can be removed

- Two completely independent refrigerant circuits

- Electronic controller : easy to see setpoints, adjustments, parameters and alarms – three hierarchical access levels (user, installer, maintenance engineer) – alarms.
