SUPPORT SPAN
NEMA CLASS
NEMA Class: Load/Span rating for the load carryingcapability of the tray system, based on a 1.5 safetyfactor and tested per NEMA Std. VE1. See SAFELOAD data on the following page to compare trayperformance across various support spans.
Tray System Number:
System Number
Identifies a specific PW cable tray design includingthe material, type, rail height, style, bottom, and NEMA Load Class. The
is used in the catalog numbering system for straightsections, fittings, and accessories. Refer to the catalog pages shown in thechart for detailed information on each cable tray system.
Rail Height: Nominal overall height of the tray side rails.
Tray Types: The ladder, ventilated/trough, and corrugated bottom cable traysystems shown in this chart are standard PW designs, in accordance withNEMA Std. VE1 guidelines. See pages 6-7 for construction details onstandard and alternate PW cable tray designs.
Load Depth: Nominal interior depth of the cable traythat is available for fill. The nominal height and depth aredefined by NEMA Std. VE1 to be within 3/8" of the actualexact dimension.
System numbers
efer to the appropriate catalog pages
are shown for each type of standard steel cabletray. For detailed information and part numbers for specific traysystems, please r .

To convert pounds per foot to kilograms per metermultiply by 1.488. To convert feet to meters multiply by 0.305.
See the load/deflection charts on pages 44-63 formid-span cable tray deflection information.
Standard tray lengths are 12' and 24'. 10', 20’and custom tray lengths are available. Contact PW for currentlead times on non-standard lengths.
Note: Straight tray lengths should be equal to or greater than thecable tray support spacing when installed, per NEMAStandards.
The availability of NEMA Class 20C+ traysmay be limited, and may require greater lead times. Contact PWfor current availability of all heavy duty tray systems.

To convert safe load data to reflect a safety factor of 2.0, multiply the loadshown by 0.75.
NEMA Class: Load/Span rating for the load carryingcapability of the tray system, based on a 1.5 safetyfactor and tested per NEMA Std. VE1. See the safeload data chart on the following page to comparetray performance across various support spans.
Tray System Number:
System Number
Identifies a specific PW cable tray design includingthe material, type, rail height, style, bottom and NEMA Load Class. The
is used in the catalog numbering system for straightsections, fittings and accessories. See page 10 for more information on thecatalog numbering system.
Rail Height: Nominal overall height of the tray side rails.
Tray Types: The ladder, ventilated/trough and solid bottom type cable traysystems shown in this chart are standard PW designs that are in accordancewith NEMA Std. VE1 guidelines. See pages 6-7 for construction details onstandard and alternate PW cable tray designs.
Load Depth: Nominal interior depth of the cable traythat is available for fill. The nominal height and depth isdefined by NEMA Std. VE1 as being within 3/8" of theactual exact dimension.

load vs. deflectioninformation for specific stainless steel cable tray systems.
Standard tray lengths are 12' and 24'. 10', 20'and custom tray lengths are available. Contact PW for currentlead times on non-standard lengths.
Note: Straight tray lengths should be equal to or greater than thecable tray support spacing when installed, per NEMAStandards.
