El catalán no es más difícil que otras lenguas

Familias lingüísticas. Las lenguas que derivan de una lengua común anterior se agrupan en familias lingüísticas.El latín, tronco común. Algunas lenguas, habladas originariamente en Europa, tienen como tronco común el latín y reciben el nombre de lenguas románicas.Lenguas románicas. Entre estas lenguas encontramos el catalán, el español, el francés, el italiano, el portugués, el rumano y algunas otras como el occitano y el aragonés.

Si conoces una lengua románica, no te costará aprender otra

Lenguas hermanas. En términos de parentesco, se suele decir que las lenguas románicas son hijas del latín y hermanas entre sí.Lenguas gemelas. Algunas de estas lenguas, como el catalán y el occitano, o el español y el portugués, pueden considerarse además gemelas.Inteligibilidad. Entre los hablantes de lenguas románicas existe cierto grado de inteligibilidad mutua, especialmente en la lengua escrita.Dominio. Si se domina bastante bien una o varias lenguas románicas es más fácil aprender otra de esta misma familia.

Existen muchas similitudes

Características compartidas. Las lenguas románicas comparten una serie de características más o menos comunes, tanto en estructura gramatical como en fonética o léxico.Vocabulario. El vocabulario es quizás donde mejor se pueden observar los fenóme-nos de similitud debidos a una palabra originaria común.


Reconocible. El vocabulario es bastante reconocible a simple vista para alguien que ya conozca una lengua románica.Paralelismos. Otro factor que también facilita el aprendizaje de las lenguas romá-nicas es el número de paralelismos y regularidades gramaticales que se pueden observar entre ellas.

En un par de semanas, puedes empezar a entenderlo

80 %. El catalán comparte el 80 % de su vocabulario con el resto de las lenguas de la familia románica y estadísticamente es más parecido al francés o al italiano que al español o al portugués.Métodos. Existen distintos métodos que sistematizan estas regularidades para facilitar el aprendizaje de las lenguas románicas y activar el conocimiento pasivo que sus hablantes poseen: Eurocom, Romanica Intercom…Eurocom. El dosier de clase del taller Just Arrived incorpora algunas tablas compa-rativas elaboradas a partir del método Eurocom.

Six steps to good reading comprehension

1. Read the title of the text and formulate a hypothesis on the context of the text.2. Read the text once, quickly. You do not need to read the whole text; if you like,

you can read just the first and last paragraphs.3. Read it a second time and identify the general theme and the main ideas.4. Read it a third time and translate the words you know.5. Read it a fourth time and, from the context, work out what the words that you

haven’t been able to translate might mean.6. Use a dictionary to understand the meaning of the words that you haven’t been

Six strategies to avoid feeling blocked

1. Do not read the text word-for-word.2. Do not let yourself be intimidated by obstacles.3. Do not stop.4. Do not give too much attention to the position of words.5. La Barcelona turística

Barcelona és una de les principals destinacions turístiques del món, concreta-ment es troba en la cinquena posició en el marc europeu (per darrere de Londres, París, Berlín i Roma), i és la quarta preferida per la resta del món, només supe-rada per Londres, París i Roma.

Quins aspectes tenen en compte els viatgers que vénen a Barcelona? Donen molta importància a l’oferta arquitectònica, cultural, a les platges, al caràcter dels barcelonins, al comerç, l’oci i entreteniment; a l’oferta hotelera, al transport públic, i als restaurants i bars… De fet, si haguéssim de posar nota a tots aquests ítems, la ciutat obtindria molt bon resultat, una valoració de més de 8 sobre 10.

Quins són els principals llocs d’interès per als visitants tenint en compte els museus i col·leccions, centres d’exposicions, espais d’interès arquitectònic i espais de lleure? El top 5 estaria format per:

1. Basílica de la Sagrada Família

L’obra mestra arquitectònica d’Antoni Gaudí traspassa fronteres. No només és un símbol per als mateixos barcelonins, sinó que també és el principal lloc turístic de la ciutat: més de 3.200.000 visites anuals. Són dades molt positives per a la basílica, ja que només es finança per mitjà de donatius i de les entrades que cobra als seus visitants.


2. L’Aquàrium de Barcelona

Sembla que els peixos i bèsties marines causen una gran impressió entre els turistes, ja que es tracta del segon punt més turístic de Barcelona. Cada any visiten l’Aquàrium de Barcelona una mitjana de més d’1.500.000 persones.

3. Museu del FC Barcelona

El Barça és equip de moda a Europa i, per història i palmarès, tothom que passa per la ciutat dedica almenys una tarda al club per fer-se fotos amb els trofeus del museu i comprar samarretes, gorres i tota mena de marxandatge.


4. La Pedrera

Un altre dels monuments creats per l’arquitecte Gaudí. La casa Milà, també coneguda com la Pedrera, és un edifici modernista que va ser construït entre el 1906 i el 1910. En el seu dia va crear molta polèmica per les formes ondulades de la façana de pedra i els ferros que decoren els balcons i finestres. Està considerada una obra innovadora pel seu estil arquitectònic, del tot trencador a l’època. El 1984, la UNESCO va declarar l’edifici patrimoni de la humanitat.

5. Museu Picasso

En aquest museu trobareu la col·lecció més completa del món de les obres de joventut de l’artista andalús (més de 4.249). El Museu Picasso va obrir les seves portes el 1963 com el primer museu de Pablo Picasso del món i l’únic creat en vida de l’artista. El nombre de visitants s’acosta a 1.000.000 a l’any.

El Barcelona Bus Turístic, el Telefèric de Montjuïc, el Funicular del Tibidabo, el Tramvia Blau i les Golondrines són els mitjans de transport singulars més utilit-zats pels turistes.


D’altra banda, si ampliem la mirada fora de la ciutat, ens trobarem la primera sorpresa en trobar en primera posició La Roca Village, un centre comercial outlet que el 2014 va presentar la xifra de 3.300.000 visitants (fins i tot més que la Sagrada Família!)

Un altre dels llocs d’interès més grans és el monestir de Montserrat, per les vistes espectaculars que ofereix i la forma poc habitual de la muntanya. Seguei-xen el Circuit de Catalunya, el Parc Natural del Montseny, el Canal Olímpic de Catalunya de Castelldefels, els Espais Naturals del Delta del Llobregat, les caves Codorniu i Catalunya en miniatura.
