CAT-iq : Certification status

• CAT-iq 2.0 certification program, fully running• Full technical specifications for certification are available to

members and non members in the CAT-IQ section of the DECT forum download area.

• Product listing can be found on www.cat-iq.org/certification.aspx

CAT-iq 2.0: Status and challenges

• No more update on Specification or test scripts expected after the last one mid 2012. All new evolution willl be served in CAT-iq 2.1

• As now CAT-iq 2.0 is maturing, and we have certified products being deployed, consideration needs to be given to the handling of firmware upgrades on certified products.

CAT-iq 3.0: SUOTA status

• Standardize the http data link between the handset and an internet server, describing interactions with the base station for Software upgrade.

• The 2009 ETSI standard to be updated in H2 2013 Feedback & contribution welcome to help this process. DF will help funding a task force

• Test case needed for CAT-iq 3.0 to be built this year with potential certification process in 2014.

• Challenges : Various configuration & Network implementation within carrier Freedom of interpretation for SUOTA is quite large Already deployed product in large volumes

• IOP testing for SUOTA to be planned in 2013

CAT-iq Enterprise :opening to different market

• CAT-iq first purpose is to bring interoperability in Home environment & push by operator market for development of wireless voice over ip

• The enterprise market raise interest to get certification to help marketing visibility and ensure quality of product.

• A sub group from Cat-iq Working group was created to address specificities of the market : feature adapted to each business type, limited interoperability of value added service, frequent software upgrade.

• Specifications and expectation will be addressed for submission to DF board approval in 2013

Case study for applying CAT-iq 2.0 certification

• To get a product in the European market with the CAT-iq 2.0 certification, the following approval and test must be conducted:

• All CAT-iq 2.0 tests must be passed with the same HW and SW version which will be listed later in the official CAT-iq 2.0 web site

• It is one the manufacturer responsability to conduct the mandatory relevant approval to get the CE/FCC/UL mark(can be different HW or SW version).

• GAP test are quite easy to do by the lab and do not request onsite support from manufacturer• Need manufacturer to provide PIXIT-files (configuration file) of the equipments for each test• 1 day testing

Conclusion

• CAT-iq is the actual Wireless Technology for VoIP in the Home Gateway Major Telco imlementations already in the field in Europe, Australia US market will start in 2013

• CAT-iq 2.1 is the next milestone for Europe Carrier Data Centric & value added focus

• CAT-iq 3.0 will follow to increase and garantee a longer product life cycle & solve IOP issues
