AzerbaijanAzerbaijan, with over 9 million inhabitants, is the largest and most populous country in the Caucasus region. With its 9 climate zones, the country has a variety of soil types and favorable conditions for a diverse agriculture. Azerbaijan has the largest agricultural basin in the region. About 54.9 percent of the country is agricultural land. It is the second-fastest growing economy among 179 countries in terms of GDP per capita growth in 2001-2010 (The Economist). The GDP has grown by three times in the past 10 years. Azerbaijan is located on the south-eastern border of Europe serving as the natural bridge between Europe and Asia. Furthermore it is the logistics hub for the Caspian region with the biggest airport, sea port and railway network.

The European Union is one of the biggest export and import markets for Azerbaijan with a 53% and 34% share in Azerbaijan‘s total exports and imports respectively. The EU‘s exports to Azerbaijan consist primarily of machinery and transport equipment, whereas EU imports from Azerbaijan cover mainly oil and gas (98% of total imports). The Country has the third easiest tax paying procedures among CIS countries. There are no general trade barriers or prohibitions for imports of any type of goods to Azerbaijan and a minimum level of non-trade barriers for international trade. In order to stimulate production in the non-oil sectors of economy, Azerbaijan abolished customs duties and VAT for imports of many products and types of equipment applied in the agro-food production.

International companies have very good opportunities to contribute to the development of the „non-oil sector“ by offering agricultural products, machinery, services and know-how. Azerbaijan ist the 40th most competitive economy among 148 countries and 1st among CIS members (WEF Global Competitiveness Report 2015-2016). It has also one of the highest employment rates in the region (95%).

The MarketAzerbaijan has the largest agricultural basin in the region. At the beginning of 2007 there were 4,755,100 hectares of utilized agricultural area. In the same year the total wood resources counted 136 million m³. Azerbaijan‘s agricultural scientific research institutes are focused on meadows and pastures, horticulture and subtropical crops, green vegetables, viticulture and wine-making, cotton growing and medicinal plants. Livestock, dairy products, wine and spirits are also important farm products.
The ExhibitionCaspianAgro – is one of the biggest regional trade fairs for agricultural machinery, animal husbandry and plant cultivation, which is the most visited and media covered event in the region. It is designated to promote sustainable development of agriculture, technical implementation of progressive technologies into the agro-industrial complex of Azerbaijan, exchange of ideas and practices, strengthening of business ties between local and foreign agrarians. The participants of exhibition will have a great opportunity to establish contacts with importers, exporters, distributors, as well as the representatives of wholesale and retail sectors.

Baku Expo Centre - is a multipurpose events venue designed and constructed in accordance with highest international standards. It is a common ground for industry exhibitions, conferences, product demonstrations, seminars, meetings, corporate events for business and entertainment. The complex has a territory with a total area of 10 hectares and a total exposition area of over 20 000 sqm. There are three pavilions well equipped to hold exhibitions on the widest range of subjects. In addition facility offers one conference hall, two meeting rooms, a business centre, food courts and other support services.
