Bulletin Issue No 13 , Term 3, 16th August, 2019
Deputy Principal’s Message - Ms Bennett
We have had many activities happening throughout the school already this term. There was a fantastic representation of our students volunteering to officiate at the Small Schools’ and Casino Public School Athletics Carnivals, our Senior CAPA students delivered wonderful performances during the Senior CAPA Music and Drama nights, our Girls Rugby League and Rugby Union teams having great success on the field and a number of our talented athletes have made it to the State Athletics Carnival. Learning is a core value of Casino High School. Educational research tells us that attendance is one of the key indicators of successful learning. It is a priority to have students in class at all times. This includes arriving to school on time and getting to class on time. We ask for your support as parents and carers to partner with us to get students to school by 8.50am ready for class at 9.00am. This will enable students to make a positive start to learning each day. By now all students should have settled back into the routine of school and be focused on trying to achieve excellent results in their Yearly Reports. Year 12 are in the middle of their Trial HSC Exams and Year 11 will have their Preliminary Yearly Exams in weeks 9 and 10. These students should be developing their study plans to ensure they are well prepared for their exams. Parents/Carers and friends of Year 12 students please save the date - Year 12 Farewell Assembly - Friday 27th September, 2019.

North Coast Regional Athletics Carnival
Last week 10 students travelled to Coffs Harbour to compete in the North Coast Regional Athletics Carnival and we managed to get some great results. All athletes competed extremely well and half have made it to the State Carnival to be held at Homebush in Sydney in early September. They all should be very proud of themselves. Some athletes improved on their results from the Zone Carnival which was great to hear. They competed against athletes from the Tweed area down to Port Macquarie.
The following students have made it through to the NSW CHS State Athletics Carnival:
Lewis Armstrong- 800m
Lincoln Close- Shot put
Joshua Cole- High Jump
Isaiah Freeburn- Javelin
Faith Pittman- 100m, Hurdles, Triple Jump & Long Jump
Extra congratulations to Faith who was awarded 16 Girls Age Champion by finishing 1st in all of her
events.
Other notable performances were: Kalani Ellis (3rd in High Jump), Letisha Torrens (3rd in 100m and 200m), Amarochie Walker (5th in Shot put), Taleesha Lambeth (5th in 1500m, 4th in 3000m), and Taylor Roberts-Walker (7th in 100m). We wish those athletes travelling to Sydney all the best and look forward to hearing about your experiences and results.
