International Search EHS Director – China

The ChallengeOur China based client engaged safesearch to undertake an international search for a Divisional Director EHS. They required a Chinese national to develop and drive a behavioral safety program across the entire China region and their footprint in over 100 Chinese cities. This was a highly diverse role responsible for the delivery of safety across multiple manufacturing facilities, 100 branch offices, over 500 individual construction sites and three corporate offices.

To successfully deliver this assignment we were required to identify a EHS professional with a minimum of 15 years EHS experience gained within either a US or European multi-national and with exposure to the heavy industrial and/or construction sectors.

The solution safesearch undertook an extensive market mapping and social media campaign to identify senior Chinese EHS professionals within either a multi-national heavy industrial or tier one construction organization.

Once identified we directly engaged the candidates to determine interest and suitability. This included a behavioral interview in which we assessed technical capabilities and cultural fit. The direct approach allowed us to engage and influence high level EHS candidates by selling the features and benefits of the organisation and the opportunity.

We then prepared the candidate summaries, organised client/candidate interviews, reference checking and remuneration negotiations

Result We successfully placed a senior EHS professional with experience successfully delivering a strategic safety program for a European multi-national.

The client – A North American Fortune 500 multi-national.

They undertake extensive R&D and manufactures high-technology products in numerous areas, including aircraft engines, helicopters, HVAC, fuel cells, elevators and escalators, fire and security, building systems, and industrial products. They are also a large military contractor, producing missile systems and military helicopters.

For this assignment we were required to undertake work for one of their largest Chinese divisions which provides industrial services and manufacturing within the building services sector in over 100 Chinese cities.
