CASE STUDY Corrosion Protection for a Single Bottom Storage Tank on Bitsand Foundation via Chime Ring Dry IDS for Shell Aviation (UK) at the London Luton Airport
Project Overview The client wanted corrosion protection for a single-bottom aboveground storage tank on bitsand foundation with no existing liner, ports, or anchor bolts.
Zerust SolutionChime Ring IDS PVC pipes were installed around the circumference of the targeted vessel and sealed in place with the noted sealant materials. Corrosion inhibitor sleeve assemblies were installed through the Chime Ring IDS pipe end segments and the segments were closed off with supplied nylon plugs. All corrosion inhibitor sleeves were installed with no issues. Corrosion monitoring coupons were installed at locations as shown in provided schematic.
ConclusionNo issues with installation, project was completed on-time and per SOW. It is recommended to leave the coupons installed for a period of (min.) six months, after which they should be removed, replaced and sent to Zerust Oil & Gas for analysis.
