Life is action

In our journey of learning, we at National Public School, Banashankari, are pleased to bring out the first edition of Cascade, our newsletter for 2017-2018. Our main aim is to open the windows for the students to the outside world and provide an environment to think creatively. We also try to equip students to respond to life’s challenges in this competitive world with confidence and a centered mind. Mental and emotional balance of a high degree has to be developed from a very young age. As every year goes by there is a greater zeal within us to keep up with the challenges in imparting quality education to the children who are under our care.

Let us enjoy reading this newsletter, brought out by the students of Grade X, XI and XII, which will take us all through the steps of beauty and inquisitiveness.

The new academic year has already begun. I hope you have started the year with renewed

vigour with the desire to outshine the past achievements.

A sea of change has been introduced by CBSE into the assessment pattern. Change causes

anxiety and discomfort. The reason for this is because we want to maintain our statusquo,

live in our comfort zone. But remember “Change is the rule of life”. It is the norm and not

the exception.

With good change management, planning and methodology, you students can achieve your

goals. So do not give excuses for under performance. Believe in yourself. Believe that you

are responsible for changing your attitude and behavior. Do not give in to the temptation of

procrastination. Change yourself and build a beautiful future that you and we will be proud

of.

LKG CONNECTING CHILDREN TO NATURE

The World Environment Day was celebrated earnestly by kindergarten children. This

awareness was emphasised among children to discourage cutting of trees and to save them.

They spread the message, “Join the race to make the earth a better place”.

UKG WORLD OF SHAPEs

Puppetry is a great way to capture the attention of the children and a great tool to trigger

the creativity of young minds. Pertaining to the theme- „Shapes‟, the children were involved

in making puppets from cut-outs of different shapes.

Montessori 1st year children started their first day on 05/06/17. They walked in with mixed

feelings, accompanied by their parents. They started working with the preliminary materials

and felt comfortable with the environment.

Montessori 2nd

and 3rd

teachers’ orientation Orientation for the new faculty began on Thursday, 18

th May, 2017. It started with a warm

welcome to all the new teachers, followed by games and self-introduction. Tiny drops of water

make a mighty ocean. We, the new faculty from different streams got an opportunity to work in

this mighty ocean of NPS. As part of teacher‟s orientation we learnt how to become a

successful role model at NPS. All the presentations by our esteemed Principal Madam Grace

C.D. helped us relive this profession with a bigger dimension. We hope that this academic

session, will be full of enriching experiences for the entire new faculty. The orientation came to

an end with a grand valedictory function held on Wednesday, 31.05.2017. The new teachers

exhibited their talents and promised to continue with their good show at NPS, Banashankari.

Investiture Ceremony The investiture ceremony for this academic year was held on June 30 at the school premises.

Mrs. Madhumathi Damodharan, Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya, M G Railway Colony, graced

the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest and our Principal Grace C. D. decorated the

badge holders with sashes and flags. Mrs. Madhumathi Damodharan, in her speech, highlighted

the importance of leadership and discipline. She emphasized on keeping the school‟s flag flying

high through constant pursuit of excellence in all spheres of life. A novel introduction into the

Student Council, a brain child of our Principal Madam, was the enigmatic „Traffic Marshal‟ – a

need of the hour. They were also decorated with sashes. The Principal then administered the

oath of office to all the newly elected members of the School Council.

FOUNDATION DAY NPS Banashankari celebrated 28

th June, as Foundation Day. The programme started with the

Assembly, presented by the students of class IX A. After the welcome address, the programme

continued with a melodious invocation song, sung by the junior choir group. An eye catching

dance and a hilarious skit were performed by the students of Grade X. The highlight of the

programme was the release of “Illume”, the prestigious school magazine for the year, 2016. The

event ended with the vote of thanks.

Parent Orientation Our Principal Ms. Grace C.D. conducted an orientation programme for Grades 3 to 10 students

and parents. This was conducted to sensitize them about the revised mode of examination of

CBSE 2017 – 18. The Principal explained the new examination pattern. She motivated students

to study well, encouraged them to not only focus on their academics but also to take part in the

co-curricular activities. She told them how to balance academics without stopping their co-

curricular activities.

world a better and safer place to live in.

Our school commemorated the special day with a special assembly programme, conducted by

the senior students to emphasize the importance of saving our environment. The senior choir

group sent across the message through a melodious song called „Mother Nature needs us‟.

Le Musée de Louvre

Le Louvre est un musée à Paris et il est le

plus grand musée dans le monde. Il attire

beaucoup de visiteurs chaque année. Dans

l'année 2016, I'll y avait 7.4 million des

visiteurs.

COSMOLOGY – THE BEAUTY OF UNIVERSE

Cosmology is the very study of universe.

It deals with the existence, expansion and

the creation of the universe. The Big Bang

Theory is known as a major factor for the

formation of the universe.

Humanity‟s understanding of the universe

has evolved through the ages. First, people

regarded Earth as a dominant planet

assuming all the other planets revolved

around it, but then came along Nicolaus

Copernicus who suggested that the Sun was

in the centre and all the other planets

revolved around it. Then Issac Newton

introduced the world to gravity suggesting

that it is a binding covenant that held the

planets together. Later on, Albert Einstein

proposed his idea of uniting the space and

time as one and calling, the “Space Time

Continuum “. While the scientists debated

whether our galaxy was the only galaxy

Edwin Hubble discovered the existence of

multiple galaxies by discovering a nebula

that was outside the Milky Way.

In the recent times a famous cosmologist

Stephen Hawking has reached the

conclusion that the universe is not infinite.

It in fact has a definite shape. However, we

would not find any boundary. This is

similar to Earth, though it has a definite

shape, we would never reach an end point,

and rather we would be circling. Stephen

Hawking also concluded that the universe

would not continue forever and will

eventually reach its end.

Truth beyond the Eyes

Do not look in that mirror

Where the reflection tells lies,

Do not make the error

And succumb to stereotypes.

You are strong, you are smart

Being a queen is a diva's goal,

Any doubts in you, rip them apart.

Do not let shallow minds swallow you

whole.

Some patriarchs may not let you perform

But let them know it's the quiet before the

storm,

O heavy lightness! Perfection is a disease

and a bluff

But you're a lady, and that's good enough.
