Transport charitys$100,000 bonusThe Trans-Help Foundation will beable to do more to help transportworkers and their families thanks toits founder, Di Carroll, winning$100,000 from American Express.

The prize was part of Oprah Winf-reys visit to Australia and was de-signed to reward a group or an indi-vidual for helping others.

Mrs Carroll started Trans-Helpfive years ago and has worked roundthe clock during that time to help thefoundation provide support to trans-port workers and their families whofall victim to side effects of the indus-try that include road trauma, de-pression and death.

She was stoked with her win, which will not only allow the found-

ation to help more people in theshort-term but also raise awareness.

Winning has resulted in high-lighting the need of the services weprovide and will now give us a grantbase to help us grow more and helpmore suffering within the industry,Mrs Carroll said.

More importantly, this is a winfor the transport industry across thenation at the grassroots level.

Trans-Help recently benefitedfrom a charity auction held at theworld debut of the CAT truck rangenear Uluru.

The artwork auction raised$50,000, half of which went to thelocal indigenous population and halfto Trans-Help.

THE droving tail of the outback pion-eers will be revisited by some zanymen and women in their jaunty jalo-pies later this year.

The Variety NT Bash celebrates its20th anniversary this year with anepic adventure and the theme, ThePioneering Way, Buffaloes to Brah-mans.

The Bash leaves Daly Waters in theNT on August 7 and ends atLongreach in Queensland on August14.

The Variety NT Bash is not a rallyor race.

Its an opportunity to join like-minded people on an adventure to ex-plore the remote corners of the out-back.

It is an amazing opportunity to

meet some amazing people along theway and share a story or two.

The Bash is the holiday after a yearof fundraising.

But heres the catch you pay foryour holiday.

The Bash is not a free ride.

But its a lot of fun. For the Bashers,a lot of effort, fun and money goes intopreparing their car and theme.

Bashers get to visit a range ofschools.

And they see many children alongthe way and the joy they get from see-ing those crazy cars has to be seen tobe believed.

Fun aside, the Bash is all about thekids.

And its about putting the fun intofundraising.

The Bashers from the 2010 event ra-ised more than $340,000 for Territorykids which helped with:

    o The purchase of three Sunshinecoaches, two wheelchair lifters forspecial education schools;
