Info: You´re looking at the all-new, 2018 Aston Martin Vantage finally revealed without disguise.

And it´s certainly a bold design, with shades of the DB10 featured in Bond film Spectre, and Aston´s track-only Vulcan hypercar.

Forming the entry point to Aston´s range, the new Vantage replaces the much loved previous-generation V8 Vantage, which had been in production since 2005.

It´s built around the sale bonded aluminium platform as the new DB11, although around 70% of its components are said to be unique to the Vantage.

‘It speaks volumes for the outgoing Vantage that it is the single most successful model in Aston

Martin’s history,’ says Aston Martin boss Andy Palmer. ‘Creating a worthy successor has been a

challenge to relish and a huge source of motivation. I’m enormously excited by what we’ve cre-

ated.’

Info: Audi has just inveiled the 2018 A7 Sportback, an elegant five-door coupe-shaped hatchback grand tourer that´s much more different under than skin that it appears from a glance at its strictly evolutionary exterior design changes.

The new car shares much of its engineering with the new A8, and previews next year’s A6 saloon and estate. It will hit the streets early in 2018, with the first engine a 3.0-litre TFSI petrol V6 paired with a seven-speed S-tronic gearbox; 0-62mph takes 5.3sec and top speed is 155mph. Other four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines will follow soon.

So it isn’t just a facelifted version of the old one?

No. It’s very much in the same spirit as that GT/coupaloon/sportback, which has sold more than 200,000 since it arrived seven years ago (mostly in the US and China). But it’s an entirely new car. Like the A8, it gets its styling inspiration from 2014’s LA show concept, the Prologue, and it shares many of its underpinnings with the big saloon.

The grille is wider and lower on the A7, and the wheel arches more pronounced – apparently to emphasise Audi’s quattro heritage.

Info: Audi’s all-new A6 Avant estate has arrived for 2018.

It’s here to rival the BMW 5-series Touring and Mercedes E-Class Estate and, like the A6 saloon it’s based on, promises the world from its humble mid-size exec shape.

In terms of design, the A6 saloon and Avant estate are almost identical right up until the rear quarter – as you’d expect. The rear end is complete with full LED rear lights and chrome trim that scythes across the beltline, with S line models gaining a cowled spoiler and fake exhaust trim-mings on the bumper.

Info: We’ve seen it all before – new lights and bumpers at the front and back, and a few tweaks

to the interior. Job done.

Up front, the LED lights have been sharpened up with BMW’s latest look for the corona ring

daytime running lights – now more squashed hexagon than an actual ring. If you want, BMW will

upgrade them to adaptive LEDs.

There’s a distinct difference between the bumper design of regular models and more aggressive

M Sport, both of which have received tweaks. Regular models have a full-width lower grille be-

low the newer, larger kidney grille, and features a set of new LED foglights.

The M Sport looks sportier (obviously) with a more sculptural look to the lower apron. At the

back, the M Sport features glossy black lower trim around the exhausts where the regular mod-

els are body-coloured. Speaking of which, there are two new colours available – one orange

and one beige, as well as a range of new alloys.

Inside, the instrument panel has been updated to look a bit more modern, the latest iDrive sys-tem is present and there’s a new gear selector for the automatic gearboxes. There’s also some new seat fabrics and colour options available.

Info: Is BMW’s fresh X3 not sleek enough for you? The new BMW X4 is here to save the day and

you can order one now from 42k €. We’ll see it in the metal at the 2018 Geneva motor show.

BMW has sold an X4 since 2014 and racked up 200,000 sales worldwide. The headlines of the

new one include an all-new look, fresh engines and not one but two M Performance models.

Well, put short: it’s an X3 with a sleeker rear end. The front is recognisably similar to the X3,

with chunky bumpers and huge kidney grilles. All models have adaptive LED headlights as

standard.

The rear end is similar in design to the X2, with slim rear lights and chunky exhausts but, thank-

fully, BMW has neglected to add a set of brand badges to the C pillars.

The X4 is 81mm longer, has a 54mm stretched wheelbase, 37mm wider and 3mm lower than its

predecessor.

Orders open on 15 February, with a starting price of 42,900 € for an X4 20d Sport. After its show

debut in Geneva, we’ll see the hotter petrol and 30d versions join the ranks.

Info: Is the 2018 Citroen C4 Cactus a new car, or simply a heavy facelift? Who knows…

What we do know, however, is that Citroen’s crossover/SUV has been repositioned as a com-

pact hatchback to make room for the recently-launched C3 Aircross, the upcoming C5 Air-

cross and perhaps even C4 Aircross in the not-too-distant future – all of which sit firmly in SUV

territory.

That’s quite a restyle, what exactly is new?

Safe to say the C4 Cactus has undergone more than the light nip-and-tuck we’re so used to

seeing when it comes to a model’s mid-life facelift.

There’s a new front end more akin to the C3 hatch, featuring a more prominent Citroen badge,

revised headlamps and rear lights plus some subtle-looking gills on the front and rear bumper.

Info: Dealing with what we can see first, the updated styling looks a little reminiscent of a Jaguar

XKR-S. There’s a lower bonnet with lairy looking air vents, a sharper lower grille on the front and

remodelled rear bumper and diffuser.

LED head and tail-lights, daytime running lights and indicators are standard, while brighter

foglights are optional, as is a boot spoiler. Yee-haw.

Expect three new paint options, called Kona Blue, Royal Crimson and Orange Fury(!) as well as

assistance systems and connectivity (for a Ford).

There’s also a broad choice of models: in addition to the five-door hatch, Ford will sell a stylish

trims.

Looks futuristic, doesn’t it? Everything you see is production spec, including the central light bar

running underneath the edge of the bonnet.

Design details include small vents in the front bumper that allow airflow to pass through the

wheel wells and thin vents incorporated into the D-pillar for better aerodynamic efficiency;

NEXO has a drag co-efficient of 0.329 compared to the ix35’s 0.35.

When can I buy one and what's the UK price?

European production begins in the summer, while right-hand drive UK cars will start being built

from November. UK sales will start in January 2019.

market with upgrades inside and out, including a new cascading grille, new center stack design,

more advanced safety features and available Qi wireless charging. Following 12 consecutive

monthly sales records for the current model year, the 2019 Tucson is positioned for even

greater sales success, with expanded features such as standard Android Auto™ and Apple

CarPlay™, standard Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, available second-row USB charger

and Surround View Monitor. Eighty-nine percent of 2019 model year Tucsons will have these

technologies included and the vehicle will be arriving in dealerships this fall. The 2019 Tucson is

the fifth of eight new or re-engineered CUVs Hyundai is debuting by 2020.

"From a design perspective, onlookers will recognize a generational harmony between

Hyundai's new 2019 Santa Fe and the refreshed Tucson," said Chris Chapman, lead designer,

Hyundai Motor America. "The signature elements of the Hyundai cascading grille and modern-

day surfacing found in the rear view create shadowy, dramatic impressions and represent the

Hyundai DNA."

The 2019 model includes a revised powertrain lineup featuring more power. The two engines

offered include a 2.0-liter direct-injected four-cylinder engine (with an estimated 164 horsepower

and 151 lb.-ft. of torque) and a 2.4-liter, direct-injected four-cylinder engine (with an estimated

181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft. of torque). Both are coupled with a six-speed automatic

transmission. The 2.0-liter engine is found on the Value and SE trims and the 2.4-liter engine is

inside the SEL, Sport and Limited trims. The six-speed offers SHIFTRONIC™ manual shifting

mode and includes an overdrive lock-up torque converter for higher fuel economy at highway

speeds.

Info: First official pictures of the all-new Hyundai Santa Fe SUV have arrived ahead of the

car's reveal at the 2018 Geneva motor show.

Hyundai's pictures show slim headlights, a huge grille and chunky bumper cladding at the front.

The sketches also show rear lights that stretch and connect to the strong beltline along the side,

and the new Santa Fe has a familiar rear end to that of the Skoda Kodiaq. Hyundai says that

the new SUV has a 'confident and stable stance'.

Inside, the cockpit is similar to that of the i30 hatch, but has kit like a digital instrument cluster

and a slightly cleaner dashboard layout.

Hyundai says that the new Santa Fe ‘offers a comprehensive package of Hyundai’s latest active

safety features’, as part of its ‘Smart Sense’ tech pack.A ‘rear occupant alert’ monitors those in

the rear seats, while the rear cross traffic alert system can now autonomously brake to stop you

crashing into crossing traffic while reversing.

Hyundai’s Santa Fe has been on sale since 2001 and shares a few bits with the Kia Sorento, so

we shouldn’t expect engine choices to stray too far from the current 2.2-litre CRDi diesel-only

line-up.

Hyundai Kona Electric Model 2018




Info: Hyundai’s new Kona Electric crossover made its European debut, at the 2018 Geneva

motor show and his been confirmed for sale in the UK later in 2018.

Hyundai has timed it right – there isn’t a keener time than now to develop and show off an

electric crossover; Jaguar is doing it with the I-Pace, Audi is building one off of its e-tron quattro

concept and a fully-electric Volvo XC40 is due in 2020.

Anyway – back to the Kona EV. Two power options will be available; one with a 39.2kWh

battery and another with a 64kWh power source. The former is good for 186 miles, while the

latter is rated at a stretchier 292 miles and a 0-62mph time of 7.6 seconds. Both have 291lb ft

and are capable of 103mph

The Kona EV comes with loads of kit and can be specced with more; wireless charging, an

audio system from Krell, adaptive cruise and head-up display.

Charging-wise, the Kona EV on a 100kW DC charger takes 54 minutes to gain 80% of charge.

Using the on-board 7.2kW charger, it’s estimated to take 9h 40m for the long-rage battery

version and 6h10m for the short-range battery pack.

Prices and specs aren’t known yet for the Kona EV, although we understand that it will

'significantly undercut its closest rivals'.

KIA

Kia Ceed 5 door Hatchback Model 2018




Info: Kia has taken the four-door Stinger and miniaturised it into a family hatch shape. What

we can see is a properly pointy front bumper, Kia’s usual ‘tiger nose’ grille and an evolution of

the previous-gen Ceed’s ice cube lights that are now integrated into the main lenses.

Clean surfaces are the order of the day across the bonnet and along the sides, while the rear comes with a chunky bumper, small spoiler and rear lights that look very much like those found on the Optima.

The new Ceed sits on Kia’s K2 platform, is 20mm wider and 23mm lower. Better packaging

means a 395-litre boot – 15 litres more than before.

What’s new inside?

It’s a simple layout inside, similar to that of the Hyundai i30. A touchscreen infotainment system

is perched on top of a cleanly-designed dashboard, and the car on show features a slick, metal-

finished shifter for the dual-clutch gearbox.

Info: Joining the all-new Kia Ceed hatchback on the Korean brand´s stand at the 2018 Geneva

motor show is the entirely predictable but not completely without merit Ceed Sportswagon, or

estate.

Taking on plenty of rivals like the Peugeto 308 SDW, Hyudai i30 Tourer and Renault Mégane

Spor Tourer, the Ceed debuts with a much larger boot than before and a host of new technol-

ogy also found in the hatchback.

For the previous generation Ceed, the SW accounted for around 40% of sales, so it´s an im-

portant model.

Kia Niro Electric Model 2019




Info: Kia’s new all-electric Niro EV is coming, and the first pictures have dropped after its first

debut at the 5th International Electric Vehicle Expo in Korea. For the full fanfare, Kia will be

wheeling it out to the 2018 Paris motor show in September.

The Niro EV is uses a ‘next-generation electric vehicle powertrain’ with a 64kWh battery, and

Kia expects it to whizz along emission-free for up to 236 miles on one charge. Kia says there’ll

also be an optional, less powerful 39.2kWh battery pack available to make the Niro EV more af-

fordable. That model has a predicted range of 149 miles. Both battery packs are more powerful

than what’s currently offered in the Soul EV.

Few other details are available, but the Niro EV has its own design cues like bespoke air intakes

and blanked-off grille complete with charging socket, similar to the Soul EV.

Kia says the Niro will go on sale in its Korean home in the second half of 2018, with an arrival in

other markets like Europe expected in 2019. Prices aren’t known yet, but we expect the Niro EV

to cost a little more than the Niro PHEV variant’s list price of €30,495.

Info: Five years after showing the concept car bearing the same name, the production version of

the Lamborghini Urus has finally been unveiled. It´s the supercar maker´s first attempt at a mod-

ern high-performance crossover and spearheads a new generation of ultimate sports SUVs.

The Urus was unveiled at an event in the Sant´Agata factory and the best car magazines were

o0n hand to meet its makers. Expect right-hand drive sales to start in late summer 2018, priced

from around €186.000, a whisker above the Huracan sports car´s entry point of €175k.

Info: Making its bow in production from at the 2018 Geneva motor show is the Lexus UX,

the smallest – and most distinctive – of the Japanese luxury marque´s three-pronged SUV offering

in Europe.

After a couple of shadowy teaser images, we can now see the real thing and even in slightly

sanitised production form, the UX is still bold for an SUV, with many of the styling cues from itgs

2016 concept namesake.

While it maintains the same design language as other Lexus cars and features the same heavily

stulised spindle grille, it looks a little more aggressive – mainly thanks to more muscular wings,

haunches and a high beltline. Think Lexus LC more that Lexus RX.

Info: Can you sport any differences at all on the 2018 Mazda 6 Tourer? At firs glance, we

ce3rtainly can´t.

The, er..“new“ 6 Tourer, was revealed at the 2018 Geneva motor show, with a fea subtle

tweaks to keep Mazda´s still-very-stylish state up to date.

Mazda says that the exterior design has been refined, with new LED lighting used at the rear,

for example, with the interior getting a few bonus tweaks.

The interior layout changed, with a very Audi-like slab of dashboard plonked in the middle, a

new steering wheel, slimmer air vents and a cleaner layout for the air conditioning controls. The

seats are completely new, redesigned to give extra support and Mazda claims that NVH levels

are better that they used to be.

pesky creases of the old one, and manages to look a lot like a shrunken version of the new CLS

coupe-saloon.

Merc’s A-class has sold in huge numbers both in the UK and wider Europe – in fact, it was the

best-selling Mercedes in the UK in 2017 with 70% of orders stemming from the sporty AMG

Line.

European trims include Exclusive, Avantgarde and AMG Line but these are unconfirmed for the UK; SE, Sport and AMG Line are better tuned to the UK market.

Info: Skoda’s Fabia is getting facelifted, and will be on show at the 2018 Geneva motor show.

The now previous-generation Fabia has been on sale since 2015, while the Fabia in general has been part of Skoda’s model range since 1999. Around four million Fabias have been sold since the car’s original launch, 500,000 of which being the current one.

Yes, granted it’s a minor nip-and-tuck in the looks department. LED headlights and rear lamps are available for the first time, as are the option of 18-inch alloy wheels. (On a supermini!).

Inside, the brand promises a redesigned instrument cluster, bits of fresh trim and new seat colours. The 6.5-inch Swing infotainment system now has Skoda Connect online infotainment services plus Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink.

The brand’s Simply Clever details remain, and Skoda has tweaked a couple of them for the new

Fabia. The ice scraper, for example, now has a tyre tread depth gauge and you can order a

double-sided boot mat. Thrilling stuff - but nicely practical, as we've come to expect of the

Czech car maker...

Info: Somewhat in the shadow gr Supra Racing Concept, arguably the more important news on

the Toyota stand at the 2018 Geneva motor show was the debut of the third-generation, British

built Auris.

Shown so far only in five-door hatchback form, and not due on sale until 2019, the latest Auris is significant because it won´t be available with a diesel engine – the fuel of choice for many in the C-segment.

Instead, Toyota´s hybrid-focused strategy will see if offering not one, but two petrol-electric versions of its newcomer, along with a turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol.

Given the jpopularity of the current Auris Touring Sports estate version, it´s safe to expect that

a replacement for that will be shown becofe the end of 2018.

Info: After the usual procession of sketches and teasers, Volkswagen has revealed the new Touareg in Beijing. The third generation of VW’s flagship SUV, the new VW Touareg features a smattering of brand new technology inside and out that should help it maintain an edge in the SUV market.

While the outside may be a little sharper and has hints of the new T-Roc and T-Prime concept,

it’s the new Touareg's interior that sees the biggest step forward.

The new cabin now features an Innovision Cockpit, which in normal speak is a 12-inch Digital

Cockpit we’ve seen on other VW models, combined with another even larger display. The top-

end infotainment system on the new Touareg measures a huge 15 inches across, and it

dominates much of the dashboard.

family house.

Hakan Samuelsson, head honcho of Volvo Cars, says that “the family estate driver is an important

customer for our business and has been for generations. The new V60 honours that tradition, but

also takes it much further.”
