As We Look Ahead to the New 4-H Year As you have all heard by now, we are currently without a 4-H Educator. Kelly is going to be missed by everyone (especially by us at the office) but we understand how important family is and are happy that she is still going to be close by! The OSU Extension is currently going through the necessary steps to hire a new 4-H Educator and we hope to have someone on board no later than the first of the year. In the interim, I will be supporting the 4-H Program and we will continue to keep everything on track and moving forward with the help of Michelle and the 4-H Committee. Please feel free to call in with any questions and concerns. Your ideas and offers of assistance are welcome as well! We are planning to continue with the normal Fall Schedule which includes; Best of 4-H Night, Cookie Dough Sale, the 4-H Benefit Auction and Teen Leaders will continue to meet on a monthly basis. Honor Member Applications Due

Honor Forms are Due at the Extension Office by the end of the Day on

Monday, August 31st. What is an Honor Member? The status of Honor Member is awarded to those 4-H members who meet certain criteria every year. It is a cumulative process which means that each year you have to add additional points in order to meet the goal set for each year. You will be surprised at how many points you have obtained just by being an active 4-H member. Points are earned by doing things like: completing your projects, going to your 4-H meetings, participating in Community Service and going to 4-H Camp! Why should you become an Honor Member? Becoming an Honor Member will help you as you move forward in your 4-H Career. Having the status of Honor member for a minimum of 5 years is required to be on Outstanding Court. It is taken into account when you apply for scholarships, fair royalty and can even be put on a resume’. Applications are available from:

If you are applying for your 5th year or greater – you will need to fill out a 4-H County Award form in addition to the Honor Application. (If you have

filled out the County Award form already this year for Outstanding Court, Scholarships Leadership Camp you do not need to fill one out again. Just let us know at the office.)

All Club Secretary and Treasurer Books are due to the Extension office

no later than Monday, August 31st. Remember to do your best! All books are judged and the top 3 Secretary and Treasurer Books receive Awards. All Advisors received a copy of the judging sheet at the beginning of the year.

Honor Club Applications are due on Monday, August 31st. Applications are available in the office or on the Carroll web page in the same area as the Honor Member forms. They can also be picked up at the office.

Club Flash Drives need to be turned into the Extension office in order to prepare for next year.

The 4-H Committee meeting will be held on Monday, September 14th due to the Labor Day Holiday.

Introducing the 2015 Outstanding Court!

Congratulations to: Dalton Ulman of the Stillfork 4-H Club and Teen Leaders. Mariah Bell of Teen Leaders, Dustie Kubankin of Pioneer Saddle 4-H Club and Teen Leaders and Ryan Bowman of Stillfork 4-H Club. These 4-H Members are the Best of the Best! All their hard work and dedication were recognized at a dinner held in their honor at JB Chops.

4-H Benefit Auction to be Held at Atwood Resort

Make your plans now to attend the 2015 Carroll County 4-H Advisory Annual Benefit Auction. This is the event that provides the Carroll County 4-H Program with the funds needed to offer assistance to those in need for activities like 4-H Camp, Leadership Camp and 4-H Conference. It also helps with events such as 4-H Kick-Off Night, The Awards Banquet and Best of 4-H Night. The Benefit will be held Saturday, November 14th and will include a fabulous dinner, a fun-filled friendly competition called the “Silent Auction” and the always exciting Live Auction. More information to come in the October newsletter!

The Best of 4-H Night is a night of Celebration for those in 4-H who earned their Honor Member Status for the 2014-2015 year. Save the date now so that you can attend. There will be detailed invitations sent to those that have earned the Award for this year!

Start making your plans now for your donation to the 4-H Benefit Auction. We always get some really creative baskets and lots of great items. Let’s keep the mom- entum going! If you are looking for fresh ideas – Check out Pinterest! Just type “Silent Auction Items” in the search. You will be amazed at how many ideas are out there!

Fall Cookie Dough Sale The cookie dough sale for the fall will take place during the month of October. Cookie Dough will arrive on November 19th in time for the Holidays. Remember that all proceeds from the sales will go toward 4-H Camp for 2016. Forms will be available in the Extension office or you can get them from your Advisor. Watch for more information in the October/November Newsletter.
