To crown the event, the spectacular allegory of the Carnival will be revealed. Festa delle Marie

The traditional “Festa delle Marie” evokes the homage that the Venetian Doge offered every year to twelve beautiful but humble venetian girls, offering them magnificent jewels as a bridal dowry. The walking parade, escorted by the historical groups of the “Comitato Europeo Rievocazioni Storiche” and the Venice Carnival groups, will leave San Pietro di Castello at 2.00pm, walking along the Riva degli Schiavoni to reach Piazza San Marco at 4.00pm, where the twelve “Marias” will be introduced to the crowd waiting for them. Directed by Bruno Tosi. Historical costumes parade organised by C.E.R.S. with the collaboration of the Associazioni Amici del Carnevale di Venezia and Ass. Gran Teatro di Piazza San Marco, 12.00 pmIl Volo dellʼAngeloThe “Flight of the Angel” (traditional “Volo dell’Angelo”) is a traditional event that goes back to the Serenissima period where an unknown guest of Venice, flying along a rope from San Marco bell tower to the middle of the square, will offer an homage to the Doge, and will be greeted by the crowded parterre of the period costumes parades of the Historical Re-enactments. As a conclusion, the embrace of the Angel and the Doge will smooth the

Teatro La Fenice, from 8.30 pm“Cavalchina Grand Ball”The Teatro La Fenice Foundation will participate to the Carnival of Venice 2012 with the Cavalchina Grand Ball, that brings us to the Venetian traditions of the XVIII and XIX Centuries. It has been successfully revived in 2007. Cavalchina is a spectacular private party that brings together people from all over the world, especially donors from important associations that collect money to save Venice or to support great opera houses. The Theatre stalls will become a stylish dance-hall where gifted players will perform on the stage. After midnight rhythmic sounds will turn the theatre into a huge discotheque. From Rialto to San Marco, starting at midnightLa Vogata del SilenzioThe most spectacular way to say goodbye to the Carnival 2102: a water parade of traditional boats and gondolas floats along the Canal Grande, lit only with candels. When the parade will reach Punta della Dogana the symbolic floating bull (allegorical scenography), that all along the carnival period had been moored in the basin of San Marco, will push off and will "burn", in a spectacular firework display that says goodbye to 2012 edition and wishes to see everyone back in the 2013 edition of the carnival.
