On Sunday, November 13, classical music pianist Adam Gyorgy lifted his public out of
their seats at Carnegie Hall, offering a program that included the Liszt Sonata in b
minor, virtuoso Liszt Transcriptions, a Paganini-Liszt étude, a Hungarian Rhapsody, and works of Chopin. Adam delivered showmanship through the 90-minute program,
opening with The Island , one of his own compositions, and playing one encore: the
Liszt-Horowitz transcription of Mendelssohn’s Wedding March to which he added his
own arrangements. It was the last concert of his 2011 US/Canada Tour.
In 2005, Adam was invited to join the Steinway community, a single honor that places
him in the company of the greatest pianists of all time. His virtuosity, inspirational
improvisations and sensitive interpretations have won him critical acclaim and built
him a fan base worldwide.
Adam Gyorgy is currently on tour in Europe. He will be back at Carnegie Hall in
January for a recital benefiting his music education foundation The Adam Gyorgy
Foundation www.adamgyorgy.com/foundation
“The lineup included the ubiquitous Hungarian Rhapsod y No. 2, from a set of 19
works by Liszt that reflect the folk music of his native Hungary. Mr. Gyorgy certainly
has enough technique for the piece, and he played it with panache, as he did Liszt’s
equally popular Campanella... He also demonstrated a warm touch in Liszt’s daunting
Sonata in B minor, playing the slower parts with introspective poise and deftly
navigating the technical challenges...”
Vivien Schweitzer - The New York Times
“Adam’s original improvisations bring back the personalizing touch of the golden era
of romantic performers like Liszt, while his improvisations are truly modern and
harmonic. ... Wonderfully poetic and alive, it was the best Liszt Sonata I have heard, arevelatory proof that as great a work as I thought it was going in, it was even greater,
far more multi-faceted in impact than I’d even imagined.”

“I have never heard Liszt played as we heard
t last night. No other pianist has ever been
able to articulate the individual notes so
clearly and beautifully. It was as if he had
twenty fingers.”
“Adam, I must say your music inspires me to
be a better musician. I use your YouTube
videos to help motivate my young piano
students as well. When they see you play, they
see that with practise they too can create
something of true beauty.”
“Adam’s performance was phenomenal and it
was heartwarming to see the wonderful
reception from the audience. It definitely was
a great way to celebrate Franz Liszt’s
birthday.”
“It was one of the best experiences
for me. Being in that hall, listening
and watching him play the piano
made me feel like I was in Europe.”

UNBELIEVABLE! Truly a delight to watch and hear. What an amazing
musician.”
