Hiwi  the  Kiwi  Julie  Turner  -­‐  events  organiser  !Congratula2ons  to  the  winners  of  Hiwi  the  Kiwi  prizes.    !Mollie  won  the  fishing  rod  and  the  opportunity  for  her  story  to  be  published  in  the  New  Zealand  Sport  Fishing  magazine.    !Also  congratula2ons  to  Phoebe,  Alexis,  Maia,  Lilli  and  Izzy  for  winning  prizes  of  the  Hiwi  the  Kiwi  song  book  and  highly  commended  to  Michaela  and  Alex.  These  people  wrote  excellent  stories  high-­‐ligh2ng  the  messages  that  the  Minstrel  is  spreading  na2onwide  through  his  fabulous  singing  and  dancing  show.

Dear  Parents  !Sports  photos  These  were  completed  on  Tuesday  and  we  hope  that  we  were  able  to  include  all  children.    There  were  a  lot  of  teams  which  is  fantas2c  to  see  the  huge  number  of  our  children  compe2ng  in  sports  teams  at  St  Anne’s.  !School  Mass  Thank  you  to  Father  Brian  for  a  lovely  school  mass  on  Tuesday  at  St  Anne’s  Church.  !Mu3i  Mania  Day  The  New  Zealand  Catholic  Primary  Principals’  Associa2on  is  proud  to  be  associated  with  CARITAS  once  again  this  year.  We  are  encouraging  all  Catholic  Schools  to  par2cipate  and  observe  this  day  on  Friday  8th  July.    !Mu[i  Mania  is  all  about  Catholic  children  helping  others  in  the  Pacific  and  this  year  the  focus  is  once  again  in  the  Solomon  Islands  and  improved  condi2ons  for  St  John  Bosco  Nila  Primary  School.    !On  behalf  of  NZCPPA  we  thank  you  in  an2cipa2on  of  your  support.      !Please  bring  a  gold  coin  dona2on  to  support  this  cause  tomorrow.  !Term  break  Enjoy  the  2me  with  your  children  and  families  over  the  next  two  weeks.  !!Term  3  !St  Anne’s  Feast  Day  Tuesday  26,  July  is  the  feast  day  of  Sts  Joachim  and  Anne  (grandparents  of  Jesus,  and  parents  of  Mary).    St  Anne  is  the  patron  saint  of  our  school.    We  will  have  a  whole  school  mass  at  11.30am  and  special  ac2vi2es  on  this  day.  !Grandparents  Day  This  will  be  held  on  Friday,  5  August.  Please  inform  grandparents  of  this  morning  celebra2on.  We  look  forward  to  hos2ng  grandparents  at  school  to  share  what  we  do.    More  details  will  be  sent  home  on  the  first  week  back.  !School  class  photos  These  will  be  held  on  the  first  Friday  back  29th  July.  If  you  require  a  sibling  booking  the  form  is  in  the  school  office,  or  contract  us  and  we  will  send  one  home.  Ordering  is  all  done  online.  !School  mass  next  term  Sunday  9.30am,  28  September,  at  St  Mary’s  church  please  keep  this  date  free.    !Regards  Karl  Zimmerman  Principal  

Principal’s  News St  Anne’s:  where  excellence  is  valued

Gospel:  Luke  10:25-­‐37  !ReflecPon    !Most  parents  will  see  at  least  one  occasion  in  their  child’s  life  where  the  child  is  rejected  in  some  way.  Like  the  Samaritan  who  faced  much  rejec2on  from  his  Jewish  neighbors,  we  can  s2ll  teach  our  children  to  act  compassionately  even  if  this  was  not  their  own  experience.  O[en  the  primary  way  we  teach  our  children  is  by  our  own  example.  What  do  we  do  when  someone  offends  us?  How  do  our  children  see  us  react?  Some2mes  all  we  have  to  do  is  think  about  the  last  2me  our  children  rode  in  the  car  with  us  to  be  just  a  liVle  embarrassed  by  how  we  react  to  another  person’s  mistakes.
