Caring in Bristol’s vision is of a city empowered to solve homelessness. Our mission is to work in imaginative and creative ways with people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, with the public, and with community partners to bring about lasting change in Bristol and beyond. This Christmas we took over the Trinity Centre and the Julian Trust Night Shelter from the 23rd of December to the 1st of January, and provided shelter, food, warmth, company, wellbeing activities, and medical support for those experiencing homelessness at an acutely difficult time of the year. Responding to the needs of our community, we opened our day services for an extra two days this year and expanded the range of medical and wellbeing services we offered. To see the full range of services, check out the stats on page 6. This year marked huge strides towards ensuring the project is as sustainable and environmentally conscious as possible; we teamed up with food charity Fareshare South West to use as much surplus food as possible to produce our delicious meals, and The Community Farm to make the most of their fantastic local fresh produce. The project also tapped into Bristol’s flourishing food scene as Josh Eggleton and some of Bristol’s best chefs and restaurants came together to produce a full restaurant-quality menu for our guests, helping to bridge the gap between what’s available for the city’s most affluent and most vulnerable at Christmas. You can read all our food stats, including Co2 saved from using surplus food, on page 5.
