Welcome to the Class of 2018. The Career Management Center team is excited to have you join the Columbia Business School community and looks forward to working with you.

Our ACE model to career education is unique to Columbia Business School—our position at the center of business in New York allows us to offer MBA students a wide range of resources. Tricia Baione ’09 Director, Career Education and Advising Tricia leads advising strategy and career education, operations, and delivery for 1,500 full-time MBA students, focusing on all aspects of career management and continuously assessing the program to meet student needs. Prior to joining the Career Management Center, Tricia earned her MBA from Columbia Business School, with a

concentration in marketing and management, and was honored with the Amena Elliot Webster Memorial Award for Academic Excellence in Marketing. Her broad industry experience spans retail, consumer goods, marketing services, government, and media, where she enjoyed a seven-year tenure as a consumer magazine editor and writer. Tricia holds a BA in political science from Colgate University and an advanced certificate from Wine & Spirit Education Trust, an international provider of qualification in wine. Michael De Lucia ’89 Director, International and MS Career Management Mike leads international marketing and business development initiatives on behalf of the MBA student population, while advising both international and domestic students on career management and the job search process. He also oversees the MS in Marketing and MS in Financial Economics Programs, for which the Career Management

Center offers students individual and group advising and workshops on career mobility strategies. His extensive corporate experience includes roles in sales and trading and MBA recruitment at J.P. Morgan and over 15 years in media and entertainment, driving marketing, operations, and cross-functional teams in the United States and abroad within organizations such as 20th Century Fox, PHD Media, and News Limited. Mike holds a BA from Cornell University, an MBA from Columbia Business School, and a MA in international relations from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. Though a native New Yorker, he has lived and worked abroad in Rome, London, and Sydney. Sabeen Ali Sabeen advises international MBA students on career development and works with global organizations to help them recruit Columbia MBAs. Prior to joining Columbia, Sabeen was in career management at New York University’s Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, where she advised over 1,000 graduate students and alumni on jobs in multiple private sector industries, social enterprises, nonprofits,

and multilateral organizations. Previously, Sabeen worked in the global energy space. From the sustainable energy group at the World Bank-IFC and the Energy practice at UBS Investment Bank, Sabeen gained experience in both development and corporate. While at the IFC, Sabeen worked on renewable energy projects in Turkey, South Africa, and India. She consulted for the climate change team at the Environmental Defense Fund and worked at the Council on Foreign Relations. Sabeen holds an MPA in international development from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and a BA in economics and political science from Illinois Wesleyan University. Laurie Boockvar Laurie has worked in the Career Management Center for the past 18 years. She provides individual and group career coaching and specializes in the core job search skills of self-assessment, networking, resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, and managing the job search process. Prior to joining Columbia Business School, Laurie spent four years in career

development in both academia and industry and served as an adjunct instructor at New York University’s Center for Career, Education, and Life Planning and in the Adult Degree Studies Division. Laurie has an MA in counseling from New York University and a BA in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. Diana Levine Diana advises MBA students on the complete suite of career transition and job search strategy fundamentals. She designs and presents professional development workshops, partners with the Student Government Cluster Career Representatives, and serves as a key partner to the School’s Private Equity Program. Prior to joining Columbia in 2011, Diana spent five years at the New York University

Stern School of Business Career Center for Working Professionals, coaching part-time and executive MBA students and alumni. Previously, Diana worked in brand management in the consumer packaged goods industry at PepsiCo’s Quaker Oats Company, Cadbury Schweppes, and Unilever. Prior to business school, she spent four years in management consulting at Marakon Associates, developing corporate, business unit, and organizational strategies for Fortune 100 clients. Diana earned her MBA from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and holds a BA in sociology and markets and management studies from Duke University, graduating magna cum laude. Cecilia Manzolillo Cecilia advises full-time MBA students on the development of overall career management strategies. Cecilia has over a decade of experience in the financial services sector between Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs & Co., where she focused on creating bespoke structured derivative portfolio investment solutions for US and Latin American clients across asset classes including foreign exchange,

equities, and commodities. Prior to business school, Cecilia began her career as a financial analyst at Enron working on global M&A and project finance transactions, after which she moved to Kurion, an Internet startup in the web syndication space. Cecilia holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a BA in economics from the University of Texas at Austin. Jennifer Merchant ’01 Jennifer advises full-time MBA students on the development of overall career management strategies. Prior to joining Columbia, she served as COO of Slated Inc., an angel-backed venture for the independent film industry, connecting investors with projects. Previously, Jennifer served as head of finance and strategic operations for Red Envelope Entertainment, a division of Netflix,

where she was responsible for evaluating acquisitions of films for streaming and DVD delivery. She also spent several years at Paramount Pictures in motion picture planning conducting the greenlighting P&L analysis of films. Jennifer began her career as an investment banking analyst at J.P. Morgan, after which she moved to Butler Capital, a middle-market private equity firm based in New York. She received an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BS in business administration from Georgetown University. Chris Baker ’09 Enterprise Account Executive, Mixpanel Chris is currently at Mixpanel, a Bay Area firm that offers the most advanced analytics platform for mobile and the web. Previously, Chris led Enterprise Accounts at Stem, a cleantech company that combines big data, predictive analytics, and energy storage to reduce electricity costs for businesses. Chris DiMarco ’07 Senior Marketing Manager, Ethicon Chris first joined Ethicon in 2007, as part of Johnson & Johnson’s MBA Leadership Development Program. Charly Gates ’72 Managing Director, eDelta Consulting Charly focuses on risk management and business development consulting, financial training, and executive coaching for financial institutions, family-owned businesses, and individuals. Charly has 30 years of experience in investment and commercial banking, derivatives, foreign exchange, capital markets, hedge funds, and risk

management consulting. He began his career as a credit officer for Citibank in New York and was a founder of Citi’s derivatives business, where he completed many “first time” transactions, including Citi’s first interest rate swap in the United States, and assisted the World Bank in developing its swaps program. Andrew Gutmann ’01 Founder, igokids; Author, How to Be an Investment Banker Andrew Gutmann is the founder of igokids, a New York City-based tech startup focused on becoming the world’s first search engine for families. He is the author of How to Be an Investment Banker: Recruiting, Interviewing, and Landing the Job, published in 2013 by Wiley Finance, and the creator of www.ibankingfaq.com, one of the

most widely visited websites focused on the topic of investment banking. Earlier in his career, Andrew was a senior vice president at Asgaard Capital, a vice president in the M&A group of HSBC, and an associate at Houlihan Lokey. He has led or helped execute M&A, restructuring, and capital-raising transactions for clients in multiple business sectors, including consumer/retail, energy, financial services, industrials, real estate, technology, and telecommunications. Ivy Hatsengate Advisor, Tamer Center for Social Enterprise Ivy has over 20 years of professional experience working in a wide variety of sectors, from hi-tech to nonprofit. After graduating with a BA in English language and literature from Harvard-Radcliffe Colleges, she helped City Year, a youth service AmeriCorps program, with its national expansion efforts. Seeking further professional

development experiences, she subsequently joined Integral Inc., a niche product development consultancy, where she advised Fortune 100 clients for several years. Ivy completed her MBA at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management in 2001 and joined IBM in its Marketing Leadership Development Program. She held roles in corporate marketing, ibm.com, research communications, and, most recently, corporate citizenship before joining the Columbia Business School team. Anna Irving ’06 Vice President, Omnidivisional Merchandise Manager, Saks Fifth Avenue Anna is a retail executive with a diverse background in luxury buying, merchandise planning, product development, sales, and strategy. Prior to graduate school, Anna worked in buying and product development at Barneys New York, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Macy’s

Merchandising Group. After receiving her MBA, Anna joined the LVMH Management-in-Training program, where she rotated through sales and operations positions for Louis Vuitton North America. In 2009, Anna shifted back to the buying/merchandising side of the Saks team and became the senior buyer for designer handbags, managing the assortment, distribution, selling, and marketing strategies for Italian designer handbag brands in Saks’s 51 stores. Anand Joshi, MD/MBA ’01 Vice President of Procurement and Strategic Sourcing, New York-Presbyterian Hospital Anand has been with New York-Presbyterian Hospital (NYPH) since 2004; as vice president of procurement and strategic sourcing, he leads all supply chain functions for the institution. Anand has led teams to drive strategic sourcing initiatives across a roughly $1 billion

annual spend base, introduce new technology to various clinical areas of the hospital, and manage the day-to-day order placement operation. During his tenure at NYPH, he has also been closely involved in clinical operations, quality and patient safety, and talent development initiatives. Prior to joining NYPH, Anand was a consultant at McKinsey & Company in its Pharmaceutical and Medical Products and Payor/Provider practices. He has a BA in biochemistry from Harvard College and graduated with honors from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Columbia Business School in 2001 with a dual MD/MBA degree. Wissam Kahi ’04 Management Consultant and Owner, Odyssey Lead LLC Wissam is a management consultant and web entrepreneur. Prior to launching his own consulting firm, Odyssey Lead LLC, in 2011, Wissam spent nine years at Booz & Company (now Strategy &), where he became project manager of its Media and Entertainment practice. In addition to his consulting experience, Wissam has been a

founder and COO of several media startups in the New York City area. He speaks five languages, has worked across five continents, and holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and an engineering degree from Ecole Centrale in Paris. As a Columbia Coach, Wissam offers advice to students on consulting, entrepreneurship, and international careers. Nicholas Kalogeropoulos ’93 Managing Director, Hussar & Co. Nicholas has served in various roles in private equity investing and capital raising, leveraged finance, debt capital markets, and emerging markets over the past 20+ years across a variety of industries, including manufacturing, agribusiness, transportation/logistics, consumer products, commodities, healthcare, and real estate. He is

currently a managing director at Hussar & Co., a boutique merchant banking and advisory firm serving middle-market companies and emerging entrepreneurs in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet states, particularly in the transportation & logistics, agriculture & food, infrastructure and real estate sectors.  Countries of special focus include Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Romania and Greece, with a particular focus on impact investing around macro themes such as food security and development capital facilitation and objectives such as promoting transparent cross-border investment and best practices in corporate governance. Raji Kalra ’04 Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer, David Lynch Foundation Raji is the CFO/CAO for the David Lynch Foundation, where she manages all finance, HR, IT and administration. Previously, Raji was CFO for the Museum for African Art, prior to which she was the CFO/CAO at Harlem RBI and DREAM Charter School. At Harlem RBI

and Dream Charter School, Raji had overall responsibility for the fiscal, facilities, human resources, information technology, legal, and administrative functions of both organizations. Raji spends her free time traveling and exploring new cuisines and cultures and volunteering for an immigration lawyer through the nonprofit Justice For Our Neighbors. She is also the Treasurer of the Board of another nonprofit, the Bronx River Alliance. She has a BA from Columbia College as well as a dual MBA/MA degrees from Columbia Business School and Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. Harpreet Khurana ’05 Strategic Innovation Executive, Salesforce.com Harpreet comes to the Columbia Coaching Program with an extensive background in technology, consulting, internal strategy, and general management. Prior to joining Salesforce, Harpreet led the Global Client Innovation program for IBM, where he ran design workshops across the globe to help identify, develop, and scale proof of

concepts for IBM’s clients, with a focus on business model innovation and customer centricity enabled by mobility, cloud, social, and analytics. Previously, Harpreet was the director of the Global Consulting Group at Thomson Reuters, where he led growth strategy projects for the company. Barry Salzberg, James P. Gorman Professor of Professional Practice in Business Strategy, Director of Executives in Residence Program, and Bernstein Faculty Leader at Columbia Business School, received his undergraduate degree in accounting from Brooklyn College, his JD from Brooklyn Law School and his LLM in taxation from the New York University School of Law. Gary B. Appel ’77 has spent 39 years in the financial services industry. Currently he serves on the Advisory Board of the Private Equity Program at Columbia Business School. Mr. Appel is Vice Chairman of Corporate Investment-North America for Investcorp International Inc., a global manager of alternative investment products. He retired in 2012 as Vice Chairman of Castle Harlan, Inc., a global middle market private equity funds manager. Prior to joining Castle Harlan, he was Vice Chairman of Glencoe Capital, Ltd., a Chicago-based middle market private equity funds manager, and a member of its Investment Committee. While at Glencoe he co-founded and managed one of the first independent

co-investment funds created for a state retirement system. In the late 1990s Mr. Appel was a Senior Managing Director of Bear Stearns, Inc. Toos N. Daruvala is a Senior Advisor and Director Emeritus from the New York Office of McKinsey & Company. He joined the Firm in 1983; he was elected a Director (Senior Partner) in 1995; and he retired from the Firm in 2015. Toos has counseled CEOs and senior executives at a range of financial institutions and information/transaction services players on strategy and operational matters.

Jesse J. Greene, Jr. ’75 recently retired from IBM as VP Financial Management and Chief Financial Risk Officer, where he was responsible for the identification, assessment and monitoring of financial risks of the corporation, and the company's Enterprise Risk Management program. Mr. Greene began his career at IBM in 1971, and has held a broad range of positions in IBM as an engineer, tax attorney, and financial executive. In 1994, Mr. Greene left IBM to join Eastman Kodak as Treasurer, VP Finance, acting CFO and Senior VP, Strategy and Information Technology. In 2000, he joined Compaq Computer Corporation as CFO and

Senior VP of Strategic Planning. In 2002 he returned to IBM as VP and Treasurer and was later named VP, Financial Management and Chief Financial Risk Officer. Mr. Greene graduated from Columbia Law School with a JD and Columbia Business School with an MBA. He also holds an MSME and BSME from NYU School of Engineering and Science. Robert H. Herz was Chairman of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), from 2002-2010. Sabin C. Streeter ’67 serves on the Board of Overseers at Columbia Business School. He retired in 1997 as a managing director of investment banking at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corporation after 20 years with the firm. From 1991-1993, he successfully assumed responsibility for deal flow as managing director of business development for Sprout Capital, the venture capital affiliate of DLJ. During his career at DLJ he was briefly responsible for the Retail Investment Banking Group and was the primary recruiter and trainer of MBA associates for the overall firm for an extended period of time. His primary area

of expertise was in raising public and private capital for emerging companies. At Columbia Business School he co-chaired the Warren Hall building campaign and was an adjunct professor in the late 1970s and again in 1993. He was a trustee of Middlebury College from 1984-1988. Frank G. Zarb serves as a Senior Advisor to Promontory Financial Group, LLC and Hellman & Friedman LLC. He served as Managing Director of Hellman & Freeman from 2002-2014. From 1997-2001, Frank served as CEO of the National Association of Securities Dealers and the NASDAQ Stock Market, Inc. From 1994-1997, Mr. Zarb was Chairman, CEO and President of Alexander & Alexander Services, Inc., a global organization providing risk management, insurance brokerage, and HR management consulting services. Prior to this Mr. Zarb was a Vice Chairman and Group Chief Executive of The Travelers, Inc. and

Chairman and CEO of Smith Barney, which he joined in 1988. Previously, Mr. Zarb was a senior partner of Lazard Freres & Co. from 1978-1988. From 1974-1977, Mr. Zarb was the senior official for all U.S. government energy-related activities, serving as Executive Director of the Cabinet-level Energy Resources Council, Administrator of the Federal Energy Administration, and Assistant to the President for Energy Affairs. He has served in various assignments with the Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush, and Clinton administrations, as well as being appointed by the Governor of New York to several leadership and task force assignments for the State and City. He has previously served as director for 13 other public company boards. Mr. Zarb, who earned his B.S. and M.B.A. degrees in business from Hofstra University, was awarded an honorary Doctor of Law degree by the University and the school’s Outstanding Scholar Award, and is currently an adjunct Professor of Finance at Hofstra, which named its business school after Mr. Zarb. Areas of interest: the history of public policy coming out of national financial crises, new rules of corporate governance, the changing face of emerging markets.

Mark A. Zurack teaches Capital Markets and Investments, Equity Derivatives and Equity Markets and Products at Columbia Business School, and also teaches at Cornell University as an Adjunct Professor. Mark is currently on the Board of Directors of the Binghamton University Foundation and also serves on the Boards of the Alzheimer’s Association, Teach For America, Upper West Success Academy, ETC, Southampton Bath and Tennis and the Columbia Business School Social Enterprise Program. Prior to coming to Columbia, Professor Zurack worked at Goldman Sachs

for 18 years. He joined GS in 1983 and started the equity derivatives research group. He later assumed a broader leadership role in equity derivatives, co-managing the product in both North America and Asia and leading the effort to cross-market equity derivatives products to high-net-worth individuals. He became a partner in 1994 and a managing director in 1996. Between 1998 and 2001, Professor Zurack served on the board of directors at the Chicago Board Options Exchange. He received his CFA in 1983, his MBA from Cornell in 1980 and his BS from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1978. Areas of interest: capital markets, sales and trading issues, portfolio construction, risk management and quantitative research.

Mark Jordan Employer Relations Mark works with employers across a broad range of geographies and industries to develop their brand with the Columbia Business School population. Prior to joining Columbia Business School in 2008, Mark was with Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup, where he held various roles in human resources, including experienced level and campus

recruiting. He ultimately managed the MBA and undergraduate campus recruiting and rotational program initiatives for Citi’s Global Transaction Services business. Mark has a BA in communications/journalism from the University of Colorado.  Liaison to clubs: Black Business Students Association, Investment Banking Club, Real Estate Association

Mary Kagan Employer Relations Mary oversees the corporate presentation calendar and coordination of related supplemental recruiting events sponsored by five student clubs that have a high volume of recruiting events: the Investment Banking Club, the Management Consulting Association, the Marketing Association of Columbia, the Black Business Students Association

and Columbia Women in Business. Mary holds an MA in social-organizational psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a BA in psychology from Columbia College, Columbia University.

Mark Horney ’97 Assistant Dean, Leadership, Learning, and Development Mark oversees the Career Management Center’s Leadership, Learning, and Development team, which includes the Career Leadership Institute. With more than 15 years of coaching experience, Mark advises Executive MBA students and alumni on all aspects of career management and leadership development in addition to facilitating workshops and events.

He has previous work experience in the investment banking, healthcare, and media industries. A licensed psychologist, Mark also works in private practice as a career and executive coach. Mark holds a PhD in clinical psychology from the City University of New York, an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA from Yale University. He holds certificates in executive and organizational coaching from Columbia University and from the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research in New York.

Tom Monaco Director, Experienced Professionals Career Management Tom oversees the delivery of career services and resources to Executive MBA students and Columbia Business School alumni. He has 15 years of experience in the Career Management Center, previously advising international MBA students on career development issues and overseeing on-campus-recruiting for the full-time MBA program. His

international experience includes work in Prague, the Czech Republic and in microfinance and international development in Tanzania. Tom has an MA in education from The Ohio State University and a BS in accounting from Villanova University.

Nicole GehrmannAlumni Career ManagementNicole oversees programming and one-on-one advising for the more than 44,000 Columbia Business School alumni. Previously, Nicole was associate director, MBA recruiting, at University of California Berkeley

Haas School of Business and the New York point person for the school’s career center for five years. She met with companies and alumni, pioneered student recruiting and coordinated alumni and student career-related programming locally in New York, as well as globally. Nicole has also worked for Choice Hotels International as a marketing specialist and as a grassroots marketer for the Direct Impact Company in Washington DC. Nicole holds a BA from Purdue University.

Irene Lacis Leadership, Learning, and Development Irene manages the Columbia Coaching Program, an initiative that connects industry experts with current students for career advising. Prior to her work with the Columbia Coaches, Irene was the assistant director, on-campus recruiting, for the MBA program, managing relationships with top recruiters such as McKinsey, IBM, and Morgan

Stanley. Before joining Columbia Business School, Irene worked with Columbia’s undergraduate population at the Center for Career Education. Irene has an MA in social-organizational psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a BS from Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service.

Jay Corcoran Leadership, Learning, and Development Jay is an experienced documentary filmmaker whose films Life and Death on the A-List, Undetectable, New York Diary and Rock Bottom have been broadcast on PBS Independent Lens, NHK, CBC, here! Networks and Thirteen/WNET. At Columbia Business School, he leverages digital media and engaging storytelling to educate students

and help them achieve their educational and marketing goals. For the Career Management Center, he has produced, and manages, an archive of more than 500 videos, the largest career digital media archive of the top 20 US business schools. Jay holds an MS from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, a BA in managerial relations from Catholic University, and is an alumnus of IE@Columbia, the innovation and entrepreneurship program at Columbia Business School.

Ida Martin Career Education and Advising Ida manages the Career Fellows Program, a high-profile leadership initiative that selects, employs, and develops 50+ students annually to provide peer career tutoring. She also oversees Interview Essentials, a mandatory career education series, produces the weekly CareerBytes newsletter. Ida previously worked in the Office of the
