an interac ve classroom experience to our students.
Our Instructors
New Horizons employs full- me experienced instructors. It is their passion to provide students with the best possible
training.
Our Classroom Resources
The New Horizons classroom experience includes instructor lecture and demonstra on, followed by student prac ce
through hands-on exercise, as well as Web-based resources used during and a er class. Classroom Learning students
have access to their own networked environment, which enables instructors to manage hands-on lab demonstra-

New Horizons Connected Classroom (NHCC)
New Horizons Instructor Led Training is delivered on our unique pla orm, called “Connected Classroom”. Connected
Classroom is an integrated training pla orm and learning management system portal that combines post-class sup-
port and modern technology with on-campus, instructor-led classroom training. In the Connected Classroom:
Every live lecture given by the instructor can be captured by the pla orm to ensure total quality instruc on. The
student will have the ability to access an archive of each lecture in its en rety for up to six months following each
course, which can be used for exam prepara on.
Student par cipa on in each class will be recorded by the pla orm and can be accessed by the Instructor for
grading purposes and/or remedia on.
All labs and lab assignments are within the Connected Classroom environment, allowing the system to record
u liza on and launch mes. Instructors can review u liza on and progress of all student labs for grading purpos-
es. Students can log back into the labs and launch again just before exam day as needed for addi onal prep.
Each student logs into the Connected Classroom environment when (s)he arrives at the campus each day, with a
unique log-in for each student. Each student logs out of the pla orm at the end of each class (daily). This allows
for total accuracy in a endance taking. Log in/access mes are recorded inside the Learning Management Sys-
tem and can be accessed indefinitely by the Instructor or Student Affairs for student record review and a end-
ance monitoring.
Because Connected Classroom is integrated with the Learning Management System, a single pla orm is used to
track student cer fica ons, a endance, progress, grades, and even allows students to pull their own transcripts
at will.

CLASS REGISTRATION & SCHEDULING
INFORMATION
Registra on for classes may be conducted either via
phone, email, facsimile or in-person. Upon contac ng the
Center, students will be directed to their assigned Educa-
onal Consultant. It is the primary func on of the Educa-
onal Consultant to assist students with training decisions
and purchases. New Horizons provides Student Services
Administra on for scheduling of student’s courses. All
prices of current courses are published in the current
course schedule. Prices are adjusted periodically to reflect
cost and market fluctua ons. Scholarships may be availa-
ble as well. Consult with your Educa onal Consultant for
availability.
Once the student contacts the Student Services Adminis-
trator or their Educa onal Consultant for course availabil-
ity via email, fax or phone, he must give the Student Ser-
vices Administrator or EC the name of the course and pre-
ferred date of the class. The Student Services Administra-
tor will then place the student in the course, on the wait
list, and/or advise further dates available if the preferred
date is full.
Prerequisites - To maximize the benefit of our classes,
there are o en prerequisites that students should com-
plete before taking their preferred class. This ensures that
students are at a similar skill level to enable the class to
focus on the stated topics. Prerequisites for courses are
the responsibility of each student. Should students be
uncertain about prerequisites, they will need to ask for
assistance. Students may be required to complete pre-
requisite courses prior to others to ensure the overall qual-
ity of educa on. For complete details, please call to speak
to an Educa on Consultant and read the course descrip-
on for that class at www.newhorizons.com.
Enrollment Periods and Class Dates - Our classes are con-
cise and informa ve. Applica ons courses typically last
from 1 to 2 days. Technical Courses usually range from 3-5
days. Classes are scheduled frequently for day and even-
ing - not in semesters or blocks. Thus, there is no restric-
ve enrollment period; students may register for any class
prior to the first day of the class. We are closed for all ma-
jor holidays. In addi on, New Horizons reserves the right
to cancel classes at any me with cause.
Admissions Policy - We require a high school diploma,
GED, or equivalent to enroll in a program. Students will
work with the Educa onal Consultant to ensure proper
placement in a program. Students are also required to take
a technology ap tude test and score a minimum of 75%.
17
Welcome Back Policy - Students may repeat a public course
or FREE of charge on a space-available basis for up to 6
months a er comple ng the ini al class, as long as course
materials remain the same and the course is s ll available
on our public schedule. To repeat any course, student must
bring his or her original course materials to the class. If the
course materials change significantly during this me, it is
the student’s responsibility to purchase the new revised
manual(s) at the current standard prices.
Rescheduling – If it becomes necessary to reschedule or
cancel a registered class, students must give advanced no-
ce in wri ng to the Student Services Administrator five
business days prior to the start of the class. For reschedul-
ing purposes, this ac on will allow the student to select an
alternate class without penalty.
CHECK-IN PROCEDURE ON CLASS DAY
When a student arrives for class, they will check in at the
front desk. Our recep onist will confirm your a endance in
class as well as direct you to your classroom. If you have
ques ons or need further assistance at this point, please
have the recep onist contact your Educa onal Consultant.
Class rosters are signed in each class by each student to
verify a endance. Remember to check the spelling of your
name at this point. Course cer ficates are made using the
spelling you see on the roster at the beginning of class. Also
if you need CEU (Con nuing Educa on Units) or CPE
(Con nuing Professional Educa on) credits, please request
this on the course roster.
Also, please remember to arrive 30 minutes prior to your
class me. If you will be late, you must inform your Educa-
on Consultant or your Student Services Administrator. As
our classes typically are full, it is important to arrive prior to
class. If you arrive a er your scheduled class start me, we
may have given your seat to another student. If you arrive
more than 15 minutes late, you may not be admi ed. This
is designed to promote an uninterrupted, posi ve learning
environment for our students.
CLASS PARTICIPATION/ATTENDANCE
POLICY
Regular par cipa on is necessary to ensure con nuity of
the educa onal process. Regular par cipa on is desirable
in developing proper work habits, the feeling of mastery
through success, interest in school and a sense of responsi-
bility.
Our policy puts the responsibility first upon the student and
secondly upon the instructor. The students should look at
class par cipa on in the same light as they view the need to
a end work. If an employee doesn’t go to work regularly
and on me, termina on can be expected. Therefore, the
student who doesn’t a end classes regularly and on me
without making up the missed class me can expect failure
and/or dismissal.
Students are required to complete all defined course and
program hours. In the event that a student misses any por-
on of a course, the student is responsible to make up
these hours within 30 calendar days.
Grounds for dismissal are any student who has missed more
then 25% of any individual course and has not made up the
missed coursework within the required 30 calendar days.
The decision to dismiss a student based on a endance is
done via an academic review board.
It is important that the student a end school on a regular
basis. Par cipa on should help the student develop proper
work habits.
A student missing more than 5 consecu ve days of classes
for which they have been scheduled with no no ce to the
school may be automa cally withdrawn. For re-admission
see the “Re-Admission Policy”.
For students receiving educa on benefits through the Unit-
ed States Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA), New Hori-
zons is required to no fy the DVA about changes affec ng
the student’s training schedule, including regular a end-
ance. In order to maintain full me ac ve status, the DVA
requires a student to maintain a minimum of 18 hours of
physical a endance in classes per week. Any reduc ons in
a endance may result in a lowered Basic Housing Allow-
ance (BHA) and/or termina on from the program.
STANDARDS OF PROGRESS
A student who is unable to a end class for an extended
period of me may make-up the missed course by a ending
any open-enrollment course offered by the school within
one calendar year one me. An incomplete grade will be
given for that specific class un l it is made up. Any student
who misses 50% of the course will receive an incomplete
grade un l such me as the course is re-taken.
Students who do not complete all of the coursework and do
not take the exam for a given course by the exam due date
may be given a failing grade.
TARDINESS
The School understands that students will be late from me
to me due to circumstances beyond their control. Howev-
er, when tardiness becomes a habit it should be understood
18
that the School will have to take ac on.
A student exceeding this total allo ed missed me in a giv-
en week, (regardless if the me has been made up) will be
required to a end a “Counseling Session” with the Educa-
onal Consultant and/or School Director and documenta-
on will be placed in the student’s official record. A student
that has a ended two counseling sessions for tardiness will
be required to a end an academic review board for a third
offence and may be dismissed.
Addi onally, the instructor may request a counseling ses-
sion for a student regardless of the me missed, if he/she
feels the student has missed informa on cri cal to success-
fully passing the class, or the tardiness has become a habit
based on the Instructors discre on.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE
A student faced with severe illness, personal or financial
hardships which require their absence from New Horizons
for five or more consecu ve days of instruc on is required
to contact the School Director. A leave of absence period
may not exceed 180 days within any 12-month period.
A student may be granted more than one leave of absence
due to circumstances covered under the Family & Medical
Leave Act of 1993, military service requirement or jury duty,
provided that the combined leaves of absence do not ex-
ceed 180 days within the 12-month period. The student
must put the request in wri ng so that it can become part
of the permanent record. Students returning to school
from a leave of absence should meet with the School Direc-
tor to determine when to re-enter classes.
MAKE UP OF WORK
An incomplete grade may be given to a student who cannot
finish any part of or meet the requirements of the course
due to extended absence. Incomplete grades will revert to
failure within 30 days of a class end unless arrangements
are made to a end a make-up session of the course as de-
scribed in the previous paragraph, and provided such ar-
rangements are approved by the Director. At the discre on
of the Director, a student will be required to repeat an in-
complete or failed course with no addi onal tui on. The
incomplete or failed grade should be made up before a Di-
ploma may be issued. The student must bring his/her copy
of the course book(s) to the make up session of the class.
ACADEMIC PROBATION
Every effort will be made by the instruc onal staff to help
students in any area where assistance is necessary, and ar-
rangements for tutoring and review may be made through
the Director and/or instructor. If a student fails two consec-
u ve courses they will be placed on academic proba on.
The student must then pass their next class or face possible
dismissal.
To officially be placed on academic proba on, the student
will be required to a end an academic review board. This
board will consist of no less then three school officials in-
cluding the School Director. This academic review is estab-
lished to allow the student to answer and address any con-
cerns the board may have in rela on to the student’s per-
formance.
SUSPENSION
A student may be suspended from New Horizons by virtue
of misconduct. A student may be considered for re-entry to
the school if they can demonstrate a change in a tude or
circumstance that may have caused their suspension. The
decision of the Director is final. Reports are maintained and
will be available to the student.
RE-ADMITTANCE INTO A PROGRAM
If a student is dismissed from a program for any reason, the
following procedure should be followed in order to re-enter
the program:
1. The student submits a le er to his/her Career Consult-
ant reques ng re-admi ance to the program.
2. A er reviewing the le er, the Career Consultant meets
with the student to discuss the reason(s) he/she was
removed from or stopped a ending the program and
how similar issues can be prevented should re-
admission be granted.
3. The Career Consultant will discuss the student’s request
with the General Manager or Director of Admissions for
a final decision to be made.
APPEAL
A student may appeal the decision of the Academic Review
Board based upon extenua ng circumstances by wri ng to
the Director using New Horizons grievance procedure,
which may be found in this Student Catalog. The student
may review his/her record by making a wri en request to
the Director.
REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION
(Successful Completion)
Students will be considered graduated and completed with
their Career Educa on Program following the comple on of
all courses outlined in their program enrollment agreement.
19
Regula ons require that a student shall have a minimum
a endance rate of 80 percent of the total program, in order
to be graduated from a program. Also, students must re-
ceive a passing final grade. Program diplomas will be pro-
vided at program comple on.
CERTIFICATION EXAMS
Prior to si ng for an exam, students should u lize all re-
sources made available throughout the program such as
courseware, online learning, exam prepara on tools, and
self-paced labs.
Whether used independently by the student or during class,
prac ce exams DO NOT guarantee a passing score for any
exams.
Classes include up to two free exam retakes if the student
successfully scores a 95% or be er on at least 2 prac ce
tests. Verifica on by Student Services is required.
STANDARDS OF CONDUCT
While New Horizons is fully commi ed to preparing stu-
dents for computer-related job skills and new careers, it
cannot succeed without par cipa on and commitment
from each student. The a tudes and behaviors exhibited
during training are essen al elements of program success.
It has always been our goal to promote both a comfortable
atmosphere and a posi ve learning environment. With
these two goals in mind, the following policies are in effect:
Students will be expected to dress in an appropriate man-
ner (shirt, shoes, no offensive remarks or graphics on cloth-
ing, etc.) to create a posi ve learning environment.
No profanity, racial remarks or inappropriate behavior will be tolerated.
Any use of inappropriate so ware, Internet sites or offensive behavior will be grounds for permanent dis-missal from class.
As a part of promo ng a healthy, comfortable atmos-phere, New Horizons encourages students to prac ce good hygiene. If a student is found to interrupt the classroom and learning environment, he or she may be dismissed from the classroom or lab.

Students must adhere to all posted signs or warnings.
New Horizons encourages students to be considerate of others when using the telephones available outside the break-room and to abide by posted facility rules
Students must conduct themselves in a respectable manner at all mes. Disrup ve or inappropriate behav-ior deemed unsa sfactory will result in possible dismis-sal from New Horizons. Re-admi ance a er conduct dismissal requires reapplica on.
The of property from the school or other students is grounds for immediate dismissal. Upon discre on of management, the appropriate authori es may be called.
CREDIT FOR PREVIOUS TRAINING
New Horizons does not accept transfer credits, but may
recognize the student’s prior experience and/or cer fica-
ons earned against the courses required for program com-
ple on. Upon enrollment, if the student requests a prior
learning/experience assessment, the New Horizons Educa-
onal Consultant will request verifica on of the cer fica-
ons achieved and/or provide the student with a skills-
based assessment. Upon review of the cer fica on docu-
menta on and/or skills assessment, the student will be eli-
gible to receive a credit for one or more of the courses
needed for program comple on. At such me, the student
may elect to either subs tute eligible courses for the pro-
gram with no change to the program tui on, or the student
will receive a discount against the tui on for the program
on a pro rata amount based on the total course hours cred-
ited versus the total course hours of the program. New Ho-
rizons cannot guarantee that credits earned at New Hori-
zons will transfer to another school.
Please note, for students using Veterans Administra on
funding, the VA will not pay for students to repeat training
previously successfully completed. If VA students are re-
quired to repeat a course that has been successfully com-
pleted and paid for by the VA, they will have to repeat the
course or courses at their own expense.
