All job searches start with a computer and now help is available for anyone wish- ing to brush up their skills to help them with job searches or improve their skills for the workplace. A free drop-in work club runs on Wednes- day afternoons at Palmerston centre for anyone needing help to register for the Universal Jobmatch or with jobsearch. The Vale of Glamorgan Adult and Com- munity Learning Service has a range of Get Back on Track courses which are free to job seekers and those on benefits. For anyone needing to get to grips with using a computer there are workshops available for complete beginners or to help you use Microsoft Word to format and lay out cov- ering letters, applications, CVs and docu- ments. Internet and email workshops will help you with online applications, set up an email account and send applications as attachments. Other workshops will intro- duce you to Excel spreadsheets both for the workplace or to help you manage your household budget. It is important to have a good, up to date CV and extra CV workshops have been added to take place fortnightly on Tues- days with help and advice on producing CVs that will attract the attention of pro- spective employers. For anyone wishing to brush up on their English and maths skills a free drop-in session is held on Tuesday afternoons at Palmerston centre. MARIA Coles runs a successfultuition business, providing a ser-vice to people of all ages.Maria’s youngest customer is

three and the oldest 89. The three-year-old is learning French whilethe 89-year-old is practising Span-ish conversation.Maria teaches English from re-

ception to A-Level, incorporatingvital studies of GCSE EnglishLanguage and Literature, due tothe current demands of controlledassessments and examinationsspanning Year 10 and Year 11.English tuition boosts confidence,enhances understanding and, asa result, gives extra insight intoexamination requirements, there-fore boosting valuable grades.In terms of English, Maria also
