Nazarbayev University Career and Advising Center (further -CAC) advances the mission
of Nazarbayev University to promote the development of education and research
activities in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The mission of NU CAC is providing
comprehensive career services to encourage students’ excellence in career
development, preparing for professional environment, creating and promoting strong
partnerships with NU students and parents, alumni, employers, Schools, and overall
university community.
The Career and Advising Center serves as a full service organization with the following
main functions:
• Provide career advising through scheduled appointments and drop-ins with CAC
staff members to assist NU students and alumni with internships, job search,
interview skills, resume review, alumni issues, and graduate application.
• Educate students about experimential learning programs (internships,
volunteering, part-time employment) while at NU
• Connect NU students and Alumni with internship providers and employers through
job postings, on-campus recruitment, networking events, and social media
• Provide services for companies looking to hire NU students and Alumni
• Facilitate Internship Programs in cooperation with NU Schools
• Acquaint students through career workshops and related activities with job-search
strategies and tools to present themselves effectively as candidates for
employment after graduation
• Assist NU students reflecting their abilities, skills, values, and motivations
• Assist NU students and Alumni to identify graduate Program and School; connect
students with graduate schools through campus info sessions and presentations

Research Seminar in Mathematics “Uniqueness of solutions to McKean-Vlasov SDEs”
by was held on 20th August.
The aim of the research seminar series is to promote collaboration and to provide
support for researchers, students, and professionals who are interested in pursuing
Ph.D.
Bekzhan Kerimkulov completed his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics at the Moscow
State University before going on to study a Masters in Mathematical Methods of
Optimization and Stochastics at National Research University Higher School of
Economics (Moscow).
During his master project, he focused on the sensitivity of diffusion processes with
respect to a perturbation of the coefficients. Throughout his university time, he was
keen on the field of probability and stochastic analysis.

On August 7, 2018, CAC organized a meeting with one of the co-owners of
the Miele company - Dr. Marcus Miele. Miele is a German manufacturer of
premium household appliances founded in 1899.
While his presentation Dr. Miele shared the history of the company which started
with the collaboration of two friends - the engineer Carl Miele and the
businessman Reinhard Zinkann. The major distinctive feature of the company was
its persistence to provide quality across the generations of employees.
Dr. Miele shared his experience in making business decisions while choosing which
product to launch and which new market to enter.
Overall, students had chance to build the idea of what it is to run a family business,
what are the major factors that affected key business decisions and were invited
to visit newly opened Miele experience center in Astana.

Career and Advising Center has prepared a series of events for your
professional development this Fall. As you know, annually we conduct 2 types of
events:
➢ Student Professional Development Program, -events aimed at helping
you to build your future career path- company and profession days, field
trips, mock interviews, on-campus recruitment, soft skills related/resume
writing workshops, etc.
➢ Graduate Application Advising Program, -events aimed at helping you
to make right decisions when applying to a graduate study- CV and
motivation letter writing, recommendation letter tips, choosing a
graduate school, finding a scholarship, etc.
To provide you with a comprehensive scope of the area, we try to invite
employers, alumni and professors as speakers to our events.
In order to attend an event, please register via CAC
CareerNet/Events/Workshops and press RSVP.
