________________________________
We would like to thank everyone for a wonderful
evening last month – students, parents, teachers,
and friends of Cardinal Leger. A special thank
you to Mr. Talluto for his leadership, organization
of events, inspiration, and his commitment and
ongoing efforts to keep us aware and fit for life!
As we focus on the virtue of love this month, let us remember that love not only inspires the practice of all other virtues, it is the form and completion of all the other virtues.
At Cardinal Leger School, we never have, nor will we ever limit our celebration of the virtue of love to February 14th, but we will continue to demonstrate this virtue through our daily work, our relationships, and activities throughout the year. Our love will show that we are children of God and followers of Christ.
First Term Ontario Provincial Report Cards will be coming home on Monday, February 13th of this month. Please note that Learning Skills continue to be a key focus because we know how significant they are to student success. As you read through the report card you will notice that teachers have worked extremely hard to ensure that the reports are written in language that is more parent-friendly. You will also see that teachers have noted student strengths, needs, and next steps in each of the curriculum areas. Next steps outlined may refer to actions that need to be taken either at home or school or both. Please note that the reports continue to be four pages and that the bottom portion of the final two pages can voluntarily be completed by the student and the parents.
Parent-Student-Teacher Interviews are scheduled for Thursday February 16th (5:30 to 8:20 p.m.) and Friday February 17th (9:00 to 11:00 a.m.).
If you plan to attend interviews, please ensure you’ve completed the Interview Request Form, so that family requests can be accommodated.
TCDSB Policy: All personal communication
devices such as cell phones are to be powered
off and stored out of view in instructional
spaces and washrooms. Use of these devices
in other areas of the school, school property
or on school trips is not permitted.
Parents who must contact children must call
the school office.
Thank you to everyone for a much smoother
drop-off and pick-up of students during the day.
Please continue to be patient and understanding
of others, especially on rainy or snowy days
when an above-average number of vehicles use
our loop. Please, do not ask your child(ren) to
wait for you on Morrish Road as there tends to
be more vehicular and pedestrian traffic in this
area and we do not supervise the public streets.
Your continued co-operation and support is
always appreciated.
A safety concern that we would
like to address is the following:
Parents who are bringing lunch
for their child must bring the
lunch into the school. It should be
noted that students will not be
permitted to stand outside on the
curb unsupervised while he/she
waits for a parent to arrive with a
lunch. As always, your child will
come down at 12 noon (no earlier)
to pick up his/her lunch either from
on top of the lunch table outside the
office or from a parent waiting in
the Atrium area. Again, we thank
you for your co-operation with this.
With the approach of winter, please note that should
it become necessary to cancel school bus
transportation or close schools due to inclement
weather, the Communications Department and
Toronto Student Transportation Group will endeavour
to provide updates through the following vehicles:
- News releases to radio and television outlets
in Toronto (Note: although the news release is
provided to the media outlets, there is no
guarantee that all television and radio
stations will broadcast the information in a
timely fashion.)
- Notification to E-News subscribers (Note: If
you do not already subscribe to E-News, but
wish to do so, please visit our website at
www.tcdsb.org and click on the E-News icon
on the top right hand side of the homepage)
- Updates will also be posted on the Board’s
24-hour information line, 416-222-8282,
extension 2873.
- The information will also be posted on the
homepage of the Board’s website at
www.tcdsb.org.
- The Toronto Student Transportation Group
will post this information on its website at
http://www.schoolbus.to/c_home.asp
Information about inclement weather protocol and
related health and safety issues can be found on the
board’s website at
http://www.tcdsb.org/Weather.htm.
Did you know that dancing is a wonderful activity to engage in? Rumour has it that it keeps you fit and healthy and you know what, no extra equipment is needed. A big congrats to Mr. Stamcoff’s class (and Ms. Burdi), as their students seem to have the moves like Jagger! Dance like no one’s watching!
Lunch Drop-Off
This is the work of Justin (Grade 6). He used a program called “Comic Life” to create
this original piece. All our students have access to this software, FREE of charge! A big
thumbs up to all of Mr. Stamcoff’s students for their media literacy works using Comic
Life.
Do you have Canadian Tire $$$ hanging around?
Donate it to Cardinal Léger School.
Let’s Help our Kids Keep Fit
Donations can be dropped off in the Office!
Thank You!
So far, we have purchased footballs, tennis
balls, and other sports equipment. Thank you!
