General Informationon Metallic Card Clothings
SURFACE TREATMENT
Depending on the application and fibre materialthere are special surface treatments available.
We distinguish:
Blank Cleaned clothings without
scales on the tooth flanks.
Most suitable for processing
cotton with high trash content
or delicate man-made fibres.
Usually applied for doffer
clothings.
Polidur Improved surface finish achieved
by electrochemical polishing.
This process also results in the
complete deburring of the
clothing. Used in the roller card
range for the processing of
delicate man-made fibres.
Needle-Finish Electrochemical polishing and
NF rounding of all edges on the
clothing teeth. Used for special
applications only (circular
combs, top combs, clothings
for OE-combing rollers).

General informationon Flat Clothings
GRAF strives to continuously improve theproduct range and today is in a position tomanufacture the card wire and the foundationmaterial for the flat clothings in addition to theprofile material for the metallic card clothings.Subsequently the entire production is in thehands of GRAF, i.e. all production stages such
as the manufacturing of foundation materialand wire as well as flat setting and confectioning is subject to the same stringent quality control as-suring our customers of impeccable quality of the finished product. A new surface treatment guar-antees additional resistance to wear and therefore extended life time of the GRAF flat clothings.
resist-O-top
resist-O-top is a flexible flat clothing applied forthe processing of cotton and blends of cottonand man-made fibres. It is a further developmentof the well-known PRIMATOP range of flats pro-gressively set without straight gaps between therows of teeth. This setting pattern favours theextraction of short fibres and trash as well as theelimination of neps. The newly developed settingpattern influences the so-called free passageresulting in a improved distribution of the cardingforces and a positive eect on the positioningof the teeth. The resist-O-top is set more denselyin the exit zone in comparison to the PRIMATO-Prange. The wire number for all types is chosenwith a dierence of 5 numbers.
RSTO C-41/0 410 p.p.s.i. Applied for cotton up to Ne 20 (coarse short staple cotton)
RSTO M-48/0 480 p.p.s.i. Used for cotton or blends of man-made fibres and cotton (Ne 20–40)
RSTO F-55/0 550 p.p.s.i. Used for cotton (Ne 30 and finer )
PRIMATOP
The PRIMATOP is a range of flexible flat clothingsintended for the processing of cotton andman-made fibres. The density is progressive, i.e.the entry side, seen in the direction of the materialflow, is open and becomes continuouslynarrower towards the exit side. PT 43/0 andSPACETOP are set with card wire with a die-rence of 4 numbers.
PT 40/0-5 400 p.p.s.i. Applied for regenerated fibres and cotton up to Ne 20 (coarse, short staple cotton)
PT 43/0 430 p.p.s.i. Applied for yarns from Ne 20 – 40 (cotton and fine man-made fibres)
SPACETOP 520 p.p.s.i. Used for yarns Ne 30 and finer (fine, long staple cotton)
SUPRATOP
SUPRATOP is a flexible flat clothing withoutany straight gaps used for the processing ofman-made fibres. The setting pattern positivelyinfluences the parallelism of the fibres and theelimination of melted fibre particles.

General informationon Flat Clothings
InLine-X-Top
InLine-X-Top is a range of flexible flat clothingsintended for the processing of cotton and man-madefibres. These flat clothings with straight gaps, diagonal setting pattern and a dierence of 5 numbers in the wire is particularly suitable for application on cards without stationary flats above the lickerin and medium production ranges.
ILXT M-35/0 350 p.p.s.i. For processing medium fine and coarse man-made fibres
ILXT M-40/0 400 p.p.s.i. Applied for man-made fibres (< 1,0 – 1,4 dtex)
ILXT C-40/0 400 p.p.s.i. Used for cotton or blends of man-made fibres with cotton (Ne 20 – 40)
ILXT C-40/0-7 400 p.p.s.i. For the processing of regener- rated fibres, set with a dierence of 7 numbers in the wire
ILXT F-50/0 500 p.p.s.i. Applied for cotton (Ne 30 and finer)
DIAMANT / PICCO-DIAMANT
DIAMANT and PICCO-DIAMANT are semi-rigidflat clothings for the processing of man-madefibres as well as bleached cotton and rayon. Thespecial tooth position results in only minimalwaste. The tooth points of the PICCO-DIAMANTrange undergo additional side-grinding leadingto increased carding performance as well as extended life time.
METALLIC TOP
The M-TOP is a metallic flat clothing for the processing of man-made fibres and regenerated fibres. Compared to conventional flat clothings itis designed to withstand highest carding strainand is most suitable for high production rates.

One of the deciding factors for increased produc-
tion rates with equal quality or else improvements
in quality with equal production rates on today’s
generations of high production cards is the appli-
cation of additional carding elements. Older types
of cards can be easily retrofitted with such carding
elements with a minimum of eort.
GRAF has been manufacturing the C-Cleaner II
for years already and at the same keeps improving
its design. The stationary flat clothings, made from
our CUTTY-SHARP alloy guarantee long lifetime
and the straight forward replacement of the cloth-
ing strips.
C-Cleaner II, Systems ofStationary Flats and Pre-OpeningSegments
SPECIAL FEATURES
l Sturdy clothing carrier made from aluminium profile, resistant to deformation.l Utmost straightness of the carding elements allows accurate setting.l Wide range of clothings resistant to wear with 60–860 p.p.s.i.l Clothing strips easy to replace.
ADVANTAGES
l Pre-opening segments below the lickerin favour the opening of the fibre tufts, leading to improved trash elimination.l The C-Cleaner II above the lickerin, with and without trash elimination, results in the additional opening of the fibre material and protects the flat clothings which in turn extends their life time.l Above the doer, the C-Cleaner II, with or without trash elimination, improves the fibre parallelism and eliminates further neps, leading to a positive eect on the yarn values.

Hardened mote knife
It is well known, that the edges of the mote knifes of Rieter,
Trützschler and Crosrol high production cards become worn and
blunt relatively quickly. This has a detrimental eect on the trash
extraction, the flat clothings are subject to additional strain and
the quality of the card sliver suers.
This prompted us to manufacture these mote knives in hardened
execution. The knives are specially laser-hardened (in order to
maintain their straightness). Laser-hardened refers to only the
edge of the mote knife being laser-hardened.

Conversion of existing Systems
Dierent and varying carding systems and statio-
nary flats can be found particularly on older
types of cards. In most cases customers are not
in a position to replace the worn clothings indepen-
dently but will have to send them to a service
workshop for replacement. For this reason
GRAF has designed a number of dierent conver-
sion sets, allowing customers the ecient,
straight-forward and economical replacement
of the clothings in-mill.
ADVANTAGES
l Most precise clothing strips which allow accurate settingl Simple replacement of the clothing stripsl Most economic

PRIMACOMB
The high performance circular comb was developed
in years of research and in close co-operation with
RIETER. It permits an optimum combing process on
all RIETER combers which, based on the excellent results,
are initially equipped with PRIMACOMB.
PRIMACOMB, High Performance Circular Comb forRIETER Combers
SPECIAL FEATURES
l Ingenious distribution of points established by numerous in-field trials and optimum tooth geometry lead to a substantial reduction in neps as well as thin and thick placesl The alternately slanted arrangement of the individual sections leads to more inten-
sive combingl Special surface treatment eliminates the so-called running-in phase and allows for
remarkably extended cleaning intervals resulting in longer life time of the cleaning brushesl Minimum manufacturing tolerances guarantee fast and safe exchange of the combsl The application of metallic clothings allows life times of 800 –1000 tons/comber to be reached without problems in the short – and medium staple range. Life times of 600 – 800 tons can be expected in the long staple range >11⁄4“l Easy recognition of the dierent types by the

Top Comb
Top Comb GRAF Ri-Q-Top®
For today’s generation of high performance comb-
ers the demands have increased on the two key
elements in the combing process, i.e. the circu-
lar- and the top combs. It is only as a result of the
particular configuration, precision and subsequent
finish of these main parts that the known increase
in production rates at equal or improved techno-
logical values could be realised.
For this reason GRAF, in close co-operation with
RIETER, has developed a new top comb with the
aim to substantially increase the cleaning intervals.
This top comb ideally complements the well known
PRIMACOMB circular comb and stands for best
yarn values in the combed range.
SPECIAL FEATURES
l available with 26 and 30 teeth /cml metallic teeth instead of needlesl special surface lapping of the teethl optimised tooth shape and adjusted angle lead to improved retaining of neps, short fibres, trash- and dust particles during the piecing processl wedge-shaped tooth points reduce the possibil-
ity of fibres winding around the clothing teeth resulting in a self-cleaning eect
l no soldered connection but connection actuated by clamping between row of teeth and top comb blade (aluminium profile) l reinforced ends of tooth row
ADVANTAGES
l self-cleaning top combl cleaning intervals extended by up to 4 timesl constant values in the combing sliverl nep values improved by up to 30% in the medium staple and by up to 20% in the long staplel invariable %-values in comber noils l more ecient performance of top comb (elimination of short fibres, neps, trash, seed coat fragments and dustl improved life time due to lateral reinforcement of the teeth on the rim
